In Lambeau.

Does the Pack play down to the kitties or are Division Games just tougher?

GB-Brandon

I don't know about "Playing down to the Kitties" here. This Lions roster is pretty loaded and IMO better equipped then what we saw against the Queens. I felt really good going into last Sundays game and I don't have near that same level of confidence heading into this one.

The Lions have massive speed on the second level and have athleticism upfront as well. I expect much better corner play assuming Coleman and Trufant can go for them.

On offense i like Stafford better the Cousins. They have a stacked receiving corp with a competent TE with a staple of backs. If we don't have KC I don't know how we even slow them down.

I expect lots of points. Well have to win the turnover battle once again and guys like MVS can't drop drive killing first downs and TD's for the Packers to win. It's that simple!!!

Having paid no attention to draft or preseason and barely watching yesterday - I have no idea how this will play out.

Just tuning in on game day and hoping for a good game - if we’re decent and make a playoff push - sweet.

I expect a really good game and as long as the Packers keep Rodgers upright with no major injury there will certainly be a playoff push.

Lions OL looked spotty at best against the Bears. Their DL looked weak. They're competitively built otherwise, but their chances at winning against good teams is slim. Good game for our injured OL to mend up for actual challenges of the near future.

Rodgers puts another notch in his 2020 MVP belt.

texaspackerbacker

I think Stafford is better than Cousins too, and he usually plays good against the Packers. I don't think they have near as good an O Line to protect him as Cousins did, though. Hopefully Smith, Smith, and Gary can get home a few times.

And yeah, they do have fair talent and an ability to rise up occasionally. However, it must be really frustrating to be a fan of them, because they seem to have more capacity to choke than any other team I can think of.

Another big game for Rodgers and another big Packer win - hopefully with most of our defense problems cleaned up.

Kenny Clark is the most overrated player on the team. Should have let him walk. That being said the O Line injuries are not good and the Pack need some help there.

Should destroy the Lions so that means we lose.

Your statement that kc is the most over rated player on our roster really makes me question where your optomitrist got his certification.

To me I have some confidence our ol can slow down their d enough for ar to make an injured secondary pay.
My biggest concern for us is if our 'overrated' nt is out how do we slow them down. When Clark is in everyone else on our d looks much better.

So in week 2 it comes down to injuries. Man that feels early.

Lions under Patricia have given GB problems.
Stafford is a very good QB most of the time and I'd take him over any NFCN QB not named Rodgers.
Don't know if home field is really an advantage with no fans, I actually wonder if it helps both offenses the same.

Lions have issues with their secondary right now, Rodgers could have another good day. OL will be tested.
I expect Lions to run at GB and see if they can stop Peterson, Kerryon and De'Andre. I haven't heard what's up with Kenny Clark but if he's able to play that helps them out.

I thought MIN-GB was going to be a low scoring game; I won't make that mistake with DET-GB. If GB wins this, they are in the driver's seat for the NFCN at 2-0 (division games no less) with the ever present possibility a COVID outbreak could shorten the season. Plus, it's at Lambeau, and I hate to see GB lose at home.

1st half will be interesting- assuming Clark’s out and we don’t make big changes in LB/Secondary - giving up 3 4th q TDs and 2pt conversions could’ve been a prevent def aberration or a sign that the D is vulnerable.

O’Day is an idiot and the antithesis of everything I am. Plus, an argument could be made that he has supplanted the Kentucky as my archenemy. But for once on this forum, O’Day is correct about something.

Clark is overrated. Now overpaid.

Stopping the run starts with the D-Line and the D-Line starts with Clark. Suffice it to say, Clark ain’t the Gravedigger as a run stopper. As a pass rusher, Clark shows up once in a fucking blue moon to inflate his stats against cupcakes.

Peter Griffen or Deputy Nutz could be signed off the streets of Baltimore, and either one of them could Kung Fu with the same milksopiness Clark does.

Lions secondary in shambles. Their DL bad. 12 and his dynamic weapons gonna shred them to pieces.

I thought he was just sarcastically mocking you, APB. It's hard to believe a smart guy like Oday could be so wrongheaded about Clark - you, not so much.

I'm not saying we can't beat the Lions or most any other team by outscoring them even without Clark, but if defense is ever critical, or if we are ever gonna get a real laugher of a win, we're gonna need the guy, as he is one of the best interior D Linemen in the NFL.

Here's my takes on this week's game:

Packers:
If we can manage all four running backs in a rotation similar to last week's Queen's victory, we'll be in good shape. I was impressed by all four backs, Jones to a lesser extent. I think they need to increase Dillon's role a little. I feel that he could have been in there/used more in short yardage situations.
MVS needs to remember that's he's being paid to CATCH passes, not just run routes.
I thought Pettine called a good game vs the vikes, and we will need him again against the lions. That safety by Jaire Alexander was a beauty of a play call. Don't let the box score fool you, we stuffed the stinking Queens offense right up until we decided to put the game on cruise control and allowed a bunch of garbage time points.
I was pleasantly surprised by Deguara's athleticism and receiving skills. I had him pegged as a blocker/plodder coming in. Glad I was wrong.

Lions:
We need someone to step up and keep Hockenson in check. TE's have long been an achilles heel for the packers defense, and Hockenson is really good.
The lions run game could be problematic. AP still has it, and Swift wasn't highly regarded for nothing.

All in all, the packers should have this one when the dust settles. Probably closer than I'd like, something on the order of 27-21.

Both teams have holes due to injury going in. Detroit’s back end is banged up and Packers are without their most significant player on the front seven that was already soft.

What’s worse? Lions relying on the 3rd player picked in the draft at corner or the Packers relying on “Team Northwestern?”

Young corners just getting their feet wet in the NFL combined with missing their best player who happens to be a pass rusher. It's not decimated by number, but decimated in the sense that it's the one injury they couldn't perform with

Lions have flowers, a really good pass rusher and overall defender. They're weak on the interior DL but have good inside backers and safeties. They're young and mostly weak at corner.

Packers gonna want to help out on flowers, and isolate the young corners. Either a big day for Adams, or if Patricia wants to bracket Adams a lot, a big day for Lizard and Marquez Valdez Scantling and/or Swerv.

Jones and company should be able to get 4 consistently (without many big one's) due to a weak Detroit front, but solid ILB/S group. Gonna want to be patient and disciplined on penalties cuz 2nd n 6 / 3rd n 2 gon be 12s friend. 2nd and 18 cuz a hold gonna be big problem.

Packers can slow the Packers with penalties. Or if 12 tries to take more than what's there. But patience and a methodical, disciplined approach could easily lead to a couple huge MVS shots and an overall dominant offensive performance.

RashanGary
09-19-2020, 11:06 AM
Defensively, packers weak up the middle without Clark. Other than that, solid. Detroit is weak on the interior OL. Should be a wash there. Detroit probably gonna go a little bigger and force Barnes on the field. Could be a decent rush offense for Detroit if they keep.the score close, with probable rookie mistakes by Barnes.

Stafford doesn't really have the weapons to light it up, but Hockenson could have a big day if they're not careful.

Lions definitely have a shot. It's either gonna be really close with Packer penalties and/or 12 getting impatient or trying to relive week 1.

Or it could be a blow out. If Detroit gets down, they fall into a horrible matchup with an undermanned offense going against a top pass defense along with undermanned pass rush against 12 and a cohesive group of weapons.

RashanGary
09-19-2020, 11:10 AM
History says it's gonna be close, and the Lions do have the team to keep it there if a few things bounce their way

But 12 is playing generational QB play right now and his history is once it's on, it's on for a while. Pretty sure 12 is finna light em up. First by methodically taking whats there and then with shots that should open up as the game progresses.

I don't think it is gonna be that close.

Pettine should have coached them up to compensate for the loss of Clark and to play prevent without sagging back too much. Somebody did a good job covering Rudolph last week. They ought to be able to do the same to Hockenson. I think Stafford is better than Cousins, but I doubt the Lions O Line can stifle the Smiths and Gary like the Vikings did. Rodgers should have another big day. Aaron Jones should have a much better day. I wouldn't be surprised if Dillon rumbles for a long gain too.

Lions without starting DT Nick Williams. A weakness made weaker with a short rotation inside and a rookie starting. Packers should be able to churn out some regular yards (maybe not huge gains with their ILB and safety group being the strength of their D) but some consistent regular 4 yarders in Jones favorite spot to hit, the inside zones and cut backs.

RashanGary
09-19-2020, 02:44 PM
It’s looking more and more like some methodical, consistent run game at the soft spot in their D. And some methodical, consistent targets at their inexperienced and/or marginally talented corner group.

Might be a day to see a little less TEs and a little more 3WRs. Just force the lions to either play a plethora of corners who have no experience or if they choose to lean on the ILBs, I love Lazard, Adams and MVS chances of beating a linebacker.

If we were to stack bigger bodies, it would play to the lions ILB strength. I just don’t see LaFleur as the kind of guy who wants to make it easier on anyone by playing to their strength

2 WR Adams
3 WR Lazard
4 WR MVS
5 Hybrid (Mercedes/Tonyan/Deguara/Williams/Swerv)

Always a run option so a HB for sure with that being so deep and their DL so weak. 3 WRs to stress their thin coverage group. And then a bunch of hybrid guys mixing in. Each brings something a little different as far as what they stress on the defense. But I think 3 wide will be a staple.

Picking all those favorites on the money line always looks cute. But since things aren’t 1 for 1 in the gambling world, you can win 3 out of 4 and still break even when you bet like that. It’s not your record that counts, it’s your stack.

If it hits it pays almost $2500. I like the shot!!!!!

I can lose 3 out of 5 and still win money. I like to bet on dogs.

Yet your not. Your “EMOTIONS” got you all up on in a tizzy and you got sucked in and laid points in a trap game. :glug:

May you live the life worthy of your namesake, JG/RG!

Not that I’m all about betting on the packers traveling to New Orleans, but there’s a chance Michael Thomas is out for the next one. As a Packer fan, that’d help the season get off with some dubs

Oh, it’s a parlay.... yeah, those are fun. I do that for shits and giggles sometimes. I had 4 of 5 things happen for me in one of those last year and Marcus Marietta took the titans into Denver and laid an absolute egg in the first half. Like 4 picks against a decimated and struggling Denver team. I was fairly pissed considering it was the last one on my list. 50 to win 5000 and I was that close

So RashanGary and I made $50 apiece by betting the Packers -5.5 and GB-Brandon lost his parlay when the Chiefs didn't cover their spread, but he never showed up to eat his crow. Surprise, surprise.
