What is up, Pack fans! Hi Mazzin, hath the autumn days been fair to thee?

Just finished flipping burgers. Cardio day. About to hit the elliptical machine at the gym. Why the fuck am I working out 4 days a week on a bad hip anyway? Ain’t like a hot chick is gonna accept my seed anytime soon.

Hip-hop safety Taylor Rapp has been benched for a rookie.

Now that Joey Harrington has retired, Matt Stafford is my favorite QB not named Aaron Rodgers. Stafford has a rocket arm, he’s humble, and most importantly, he’s a good man. In a world where no one’s innocent, to paraphrase Ariana Grande, Matt Stafford is the truth.

Ageless Lions wideout Joey Galloway has been ruled out. Neither King nor Alexander could cover the 50 year old Galloway at Lambeau last season. With the aging Switch Hitter carrying the rock and nobody to throw to, expect Matt “a few good men” Stafford to struggle. If Pettine’s milksop defense fails to handle The Truth today, off with Pettine’s head!

Packers 72, Kittens 0

Power to the Packers!

Game day post. GO PACK GO

Pack 34 Lions 17

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Lions coach Matt Patricia said WR Kenny Golladay is "really close."
Pelissero spoke with Patricia on Saturday after Golladay had been ruled out for Week 2 against the Packers. Golladay appears on track for a Week 3 return.

A few good men stafford vs. the truth of Packer Greatness

The question of the day. How many different uniforms can Adrian Peterson disguise himself in while tormenting a packer defense?

I said the same in prep thread. I’m a badger homer but pulling for this guy. Dad murdered, bs charges in college and universally liked by teammates. Not super fast/explosive but made lots of plays.

Hard not to hope he has a nice career. Overcoming the adversity of his team being blown out today and all.

Packers declared QB Jordan Love, CB Parry Nickerson, LB Randy Ramsey, G Lane Taylor, TE Josiah Deguara, and DL Kenny Clark as inactive for Week 2 against the Lions.

Word, although I’m a bit stoic now about when the Pack play on Sundays. Used to have to flip burgers Sunday nights. Now they’re giving me Sundays off in exchange for “split” days off.

I should be working a 9-5, Mon-Fri office gig. But...I won’t say it here it’s too fyi.

Monday and Thursday night games, on the other hand, piss me off.

Sorry to see Deguara inactive. He made an impact last week, in his first NFL game. Coaches are guardedly enthusiastic about how much he can provide immediately. I look forward to seeing what they do with him in the lineup.

Most teams have a quality starting center. I know McGinns personnel guys say taking one in the 4th is awfully high. Rounds 5-7. Most teams have a good one cuz they’re the easiest position to fill.

Interesting (and funny) to wade through 12 pages of posts, especially after a win.

I predicted 41-20 in the game week thread - a little off, I'll have to do better next week hahahahahaha.

As APB said, we ought to be able to cook the cap to keep Aaron Jones as well as Linsley and everybody's favorite, Bakhtiari, even Kevin King, maybe even Jamal Williams. As I have said so many times, the decision makers apparently didn't see the draft needs as nearly as much as what a lot of posters thought. I've heard it said, the reason we drafted Love was to motivate Rodgers. I don't exactly buy that, but it certainly has been the result. I also said we were already good at WR. I'll double down on that now. MVS will be a star in this league if he outgrows the drops. As it is, he is damn good. Lazard is solid too.

I hate all the throwing to TEs, especially Sternberger who I've hardly ever seen anything good from. If they must use the TEs, though, Tonyan should be the one.

Good job LaFleur of keeping the foot on the gas with a lead. That's a major difference from McCarthy.

I was beginning to drift toward the "fire Pettine" crowd, but he shaped up a little bit as the game went along. For a long time, I've said I wished they would use more zone coverage. Today, they apparently did - with good results.

I'm hoping they held out Kenny Clark today with the idea that they didn't much need him against the Lions, and he will be back ok against New Orleans. Ditto that with Davante Adams late in the game. He played ok and looked pretty normal after the injury, so there is good reason to hope.

They took the best shot of a fired up team, and went on to kick their ass. This is gonna be a great season.

you complained about the offense a couple of times - they're not going to score every time they get the ball, but consistency that got them over 80 points (against NFL defenses, no matter where they rank in the league) is something impressive.

Yeah - so what! This is nothing new - I'm passionate on game day and complain when they don't score on every possession or when the defense doesn't have a three and out on every possession. I've been posting like that since I joined. Do I really expect them to score on every possession - Hell no! But I wish they would - so would everyone else in here. Posting like that is my way of a release instead of screaming at the TV and scaring half the neighborhood.

40+ points each game, and neither was exactly a perfect game. We had opportunities to score even more than that.

And the D was a little better today, but it still wasn't what we got used to last season - and arguably the personnel is at least as good as last year.

The ceiling has not yet been reached.

I thought you hated Aaron Jones and running the ball?

I remember Jones & Williams rookie season they both seemed like nothings to me, at least in preseason. I forget exactly, but I think I thought the backs they replaced were better. Anyway, I remember Tex said they were both good and Jones was going to be special. I dismissed it as Tex's normal brain-dead homerism. But damned if Tex didn't call this one before anybody else had much love of Jones.

I NEVER hated Aaron Jones. I celebrated the fact that we finally have a speed back - first since Ahman Green. And I still hate a run-first/run-dominated offense, but I always advocated running a change of pace/breaking some big ones when you get the D expecting passes. I still grumble sometimes when we run for 3 or 4 yards on first and second down and put pressure on the QB to save the series on 3rd down. Thankfully, it doesn't happen as often as with McCarthy or as often as I thought it would with LaFleur (what I mean when I say "subordinating his ego").

Lacy started the season in a contract year, but wasn't in shape and went to IR pretty quickly. Starks started a few games, also got hurt. Montgomery finished the season and was the Packers leading rusher that year. I wouldn't say the backs Jones and Williams (and Mays, the third back they drafted) were replacing were any great shakes!

For the record I liked Williams a lot better the first two years when he and Jones were trading starts, and am happy he's become a solid second option.

I don't remember what I thought of Jones when he was drafted. But I remember he immediately had people talking positively about him. Even before training camp. Whatever it is, he had it.

Gutey now has a tough decision on whether to give Jones a big contract extension. I kmow some teams have fared badly when giving a RB a big second contract. But man, that was impressive yesterday. Lions had a plan to slow down the Packers by taking away Davante Adams, and Jones jist destroyed that plan.

Patler

Jones has evolved into a touchdown machine. In his last 20 games (season and playoff) he has:

22 TDs from 303 rushing attempts
5 TDs from 63 receptions.

27 TDs on 366 touches in 20 games. 1.35 TDs/game. A TD every 13.55 touches.

It is difficult not to want to hang on to that type of performance for as long as it continues. JSO had a good analysis of the Cook and Kamara contracts. If either are released after 3 or 4 years, the full costs to the teams are about $10M/year. A little more on a per year basis if released after only 2 years. A guy who, on average, has 18 touches/game and scores at a rate of greater than a touchdown per game is worth that.

I knew Packers needed young blood. (Ryan Grant was also let go.) I just thought other youngsters from previous year were just as good. DuJuan Harris, some other guys passing through. I wasn't impressed with Jones, he seemed small, nothing special. So I was wrong. Leave me alone.

I don’t think if you keep Rodgers the plan should be to give him an extension. Now if the plan is to move on from Rodgers after 2021 season then mine as well sign him because JL will need all the help he can get and they have the “Rookie QB Deal”.

That’s why I have posted this extension pretty much tells the tale of how long Rodgers will be in Green Bay.
