View Full Version : Official Packers at Panthers Game Saturday Night Special Thread

Well damn posters are actually here on a Saturday? Seem to be in a bit of a frenzy. Like there is going to be a feast tonight or something like that. Life is Good right now for the Green and Gold. I myself have fallen to the championship cult. But I do understand thing can unravel quick. Lose tonight and the last two possibly tough games become must wins. I don’t think the arrogance on this forum is what see from the Pack tonight.

I see a slow start letting them hang around but the team rallies in the second half to make it the laugher it was always supposed to be.

Packers 31 - Panthers 13

Hope the Pack are up for this, it has so much makings of a trap game. A team they are expected to beat easily that is also missing their star player.

What was that time out for? 3 and out, nice!

Keep fighting in defense, make a team work for every yard, and good things are bound to happen. Not sure what happened on the 4th and short, I think they caught us with Pass personnel on the field, but other than that it was a struggle.

Packers ARE the best team in the NFC.

Beat the Saints.

Slightly better offense and defense than Seattle.

Rams are tough. Their defense is better, but our offense is better. The Rams are probably the one team I’d like to see get beat before we play them in the playoffs.

NFC East has no chance against us.

I’d love to play the Bucs again at Lambeau.

Cards are scary because Murray is such a wild card.

Vikings would be tough because they are a division opponent. As long as the wind isn’t 30-40 MPH I like our chances.

That’s fine and dandy but there appears to be an ongoing theme with the Packers and we all know what that theme is. This isn’t the first time this has happened. This isn’t going to get it done. Odd decision by Panthers. They are counting on a 3 and out

Mathematically it was there best chance needing two scores without having to rely on an onside kick.

Was puzzled to see that Jamaal Williams got zero snaps in second half after running well in first. It was his runs on second and third drives that really established the dominant running game. I was surprised not to see MLF go back to that after the break.

I didn’t even notice this. :)

From nfl.com:

The Packers slightly altered their defensive alignment and might have found a remedy to their woes against the run. Krys Barnes took over Christian Kirksey's role as the primary off-ball linebacker, handling the communications and staying on the field when Green Bay went with one linebacker and a box safety. And it worked well. Barnes recorded six tackles, including one for loss, and forced a Carolina fumble at the Packers' 1 -yard-line to protect a two-score lead early on. Kirksey, meanwhile, still recorded nine tackles. The Panthers entered Week 15 boasting a top-10 offense by DVOA, and they didn't get into the end zone until the fourth quarter. That coincided with Barnes exiting the game with an eye injury.

Williams is questionable to return to Saturday's game against the Panthers due to a quadriceps injury, Olivia Reiner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The 25-year-old had one carry for six yards and caught both his targets for 14 yards during the first half before exiting the contest. AJ Dillon will operate as Green Bay's secondary running back behind Aaron Jones while Williams is sidelined.

Kirksey was on the field for 49 snaps, Barnes for 31 and Martin for 22 out of a possible 69 snaps. Presumably Barnes would have had more if not for the injury.

I don’t know if this has been posted but as long as the Packers beat the Bears they are the “1 seed.”

Meaning they can lose to Tennessee and still beat Chicago and retain “1 seed.” If they beat Titans they can rest starters against Chicago plus have bye. That might be an awful long rest though.

Whatcha talking ‘bout, home boi?

According to Zack Krause of Packers Wire:

The Packers (11-3) can now clinch the top spot in one of three rather straightforward ways over the final two weeks of the 2020 season:

1. Win over Chicago Bears in Week 17

2. Win over Tennessee Titans in Week 16 AND Los Angeles Rams win over Seattle Seahawks in Week 16

3. Win over Tennessee Titans in Week 16 AND San Francisco 49ers win over Seattle Seahawks in Week 17

Looks a-like the Packers would still need help this week even with a victory over the Tennessee Tyrants.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I am pretty confident the math WON’T clinch the bye for the Packers with a Rams win in week 16 and a Packers loss to the Tyrants. If that’s the case, Packers gonna have to beat the Mobsters of the Midway in WK 17 to clinch.

Say, the Seagulls beat the Sheep this week, should the Packers rest their A-squad in a “meaningless” game against the Tyrants for the epic battle against the Mobsters the following week? Packers will know the score of the Gulls-Sheep game since they ball at night.

The reason why a loss to Tennessee and a win against the Bears gives us the #1 seed regardless of what anybody else does is that the second tiebreaker is division record. Seattle already has 2 division losses. If we beat the Bears, we finish the season with only 1 division loss. Case closed. We are ahead of New Orleans by head to head, and we would still be a game ahead of the Rams record-wise even with a loss to Tennessee.

All that being said, I think we outscore Tennessee on Sunday anyway. APB, the facts behind your last paragraph are accurate, but we both know they aren't gonna do that. It's just bad policy.

Considering you were quoting somebody who said if the Packers beat the Titans... maybe you should re-read.

Two scenarios:
1) Beat the Bears, we get the bye.
2) Beat the Titans and Rams beat the Seahawks, we get the bye.

Close. If you had said this instead, you'd be correct:

The reason why a loss to Tennessee and a win against the Bears gives us the #1 seed regardless of what anybody else does is that the second tiebreaker is CONFERENCE record. Seattle already has THREE CONFERENCE losses. If we beat the Bears, we finish the season with only TWO CONFERENCE losses. Case closed. We are ahead of New Orleans by head to head, and we would still be a game ahead of the Rams record-wise even with a loss to Tennessee.

Well, my reply to Brandon was, a victory alone over the Tyrants would NOT clinch the bye. You dash in and appeared to say a Seagulls loss by itself would be enough, no matter what the Pack do against Tennessee.

Gotta be concise, man.

Joe is correct. If Seattle wins out, they would have 9-3 in conference, same as us if we lose to the Bears. The next tiebreaker would be common games. If they win out, they are 5-0 and we would be 4-1 with the loss to Minnesota. If they lose to either the Rams or Niners, though, then we win by total record with a win in either of our last two games.

Google NFL tiebreakers. It's division record.

No. Division record is 2nd tiebreaker only to break tie within a division. In the case of Packers/Seahawks, conference record would be 2nd tie-breaker.
