Sunday’s matchups are duller than a Tony O’Day rant. I will be boycotting, err, sleeping through the exciting Saturday combats. Flip burgers. Graveyard shift.

Hopefully the Packers avoid the Saturday gig next week. I only have 2 days of protected time left. And as a side note, fuck the Packers for allowing highly compensated healthcare folks into the stadium, free of charge, yet completely ignoring working “essentials” like retail workers, burger flippers and factory workwomen, among others, all of whom - involuntarily, perhaps - kept (are still keeping) the fucking economy afloat during these times.

I kind of like the playoffs with this format. I am scared of the Packers coming off a bye week as I think they're 0-2 off byes so far with Coach. Going to be a fun weekend for sure.

Gimme:
Buffalo over Indy
Seattle over Rams
Washington over Tampa
Baltimore over Tennessee
New Orleans over Chicago
Cleveland over Pittsburgh

Rams and FT have the 2 top pass defenses in the NFL. If their QB's have a decent day, they can pull an upset.

I watched Goff in the game against the Hags.

I was underwhelmed.

He seemed like a bitch, Cutleresque. Like he didn't want to be there.

Washington over Tampa huh? That would be good for the Packers, but I just don't see it.

I think also Pittsburgh doesn't lose back to back against the Browns. Buffalo over Indy isn't as obvious as many believe, but they probably will win at home. Tennessee shouldn't lose at home to the Ravens even though the Ravens are a good team. Seattle over the Rams, yes, but probably close. I wouldn't bet against the Bears upsetting New Orleans, but I have to pick the Saints at home too.

Interesting. The Redskins started 0-4 with four blowout losses under new coach Ron Rivera. Since then, they have gone 7-5 with all 5 losses by 7 points or less. Washington did not give up more than 20 points in any game the second half of the season. They are also 5-1 with Alex Smith at QB. Somebody who won’t put their defense in bad position very often. Rivera is a good coach. Arians is overrated. I’m calling it. Big upset. :)

Totally agree. I have no idea why Carolina gave up on Ron. He's a great coach and seemingly a good man.

Buccaneers went 1-5 against playoff teams. Unfortunately, the one win was against us. Brady had 9 TDs and 9 interceptions in those games. They went 10-0 against non-playoff teams. Brady had 31 TDs and 3 interceptions in those games.

I have been down with the skins errr...football team for weeks now, especially cashing tickets on unders. Upset...might be too much to ask, but they will hang. I might have said upset if they didn't try to play their way out of the playoffs against the eagles before Doug decided he was too close to losing the pick that might land the Heisman winner or Chase.

I agree with your thoughts on Buffalo/Indy, wouldn't be so quick to write off the Colts. The D is legit, which we all saw when they held off the Pack, and Rivers can still play. If he avoids INTs it will be a game.

I also think Washington has a chance for similar reasons. Good D, who could get after Brady and cause him fits - which is exactly what the Pack did not do in their game against them. Smith is a game manager who will not take chances but they also don't have a lot of weapons on offense.

Five years ago, 7-8-1 Carolina coached by Ron Rivera beat 11-5 Arizona coached by Bruce Arians. Now, 7-9 Washington coached by Rivera vs 11-5 Tampa Bay coached by Arians.

All this is starting to make me think the Bucs roll though.

How I think the weekend goes:

Buffalo over Indianapolis in a closer game than expected. Rivers makes a crucial mistake late to cost his team the win.
Pittsburgh easily over Cleveland.
Tennessee and Baltimore in a slugfest. Tennessee seems to have Baltimore's number. I'm going with them again.

New Orleans easily over Chicago.
Tampa Bay over Washington in a closer game than expected.
LA Rams over Seattle. Rams defense plays well against Seattle. Wofford plays just well enough, scrambling around like a mini-Russ.

GB-Brandon
01-09-2021, 03:36 PM
Well the Colts “Beat The Packers” so let’s give the Bills some credit. Colts have some serious pass rush and was able to slow Bills attack a little. Most teams don’t have as much pass rush as Colts. Surprised Bills didn’t run it more with Singletary. Still, they got the “W” against a very quality opponent and got enough plays when it counted!!

Bottom Line.

HarveyWallbangers
01-09-2021, 03:38 PM
Seahawks can be had but not with the current Rams QB.

Wolford might be better than Goff at this point. Goff was horrid the second half of the season (8 TDs, 9 interceptions). Wolford looked pretty good last week. We'll see. As long as he avoid turnovers, he gives the Rams mobility. The Rams defense seems to always play Russ well. It might only take 20 points to win the game.

HarveyWallbangers
01-09-2021, 03:55 PM
If Wolford is solid, the Rams are scary. QB play has probably been the worst part of their team this year. We'll see how he does. I'm torn on this game. You wouldn't expect Washington or Chicago to win, so it comes down to us playing the Rams or Buccaneers. Those are probably the two teams I'd like to avoid the most, but I'd probably rather play the Rams. We generally play well at home vs. Seattle and New Orleans. If I knew Washington or Chicago would get an upset win, then I'd root for Seattle here, but I don't expect that and I think I'd still rather play the Rams than the Buccaneers.

Some truth there. Rodgers gets it out a little quicker and has Tonyan, Jones and Williams to work the middle a little better. Ramsey is a shut down. The other guy has to respect MVS speed. It's the rest of the offense that has to show up.

It’s why the bye is so huge though. The Rams kinda blew their wad beating the Seahawks in a very physical game while the Packers are chilling getting massages and therapy and rest.

Now the Rams might have to travel to the hardest venue to get too in all of professional sports!!!

Bucs really helped by a sketchy holding call to negate a 3rd down conversion.

Early on, he was shaky.

This kid is awesome.

His receivers dropped a couple balls that would have extended a couple drives.

I love his moxie.

He throws a nice ball too.

Fox river has come a long way. Eagles and other wildlife rebounding south of Green Bay and pelicans and ducks and geese rebounding in Green Bay. They dredged the river and put a clay cap over the last 10 years. It's in the final stage, I think it's done now or will be this year. Over the course of the next few years I'll bet it's back to being a solid clean river for the eild life. 10-20 year's ago it was awful though.

Yeah? Other than the Packers, I haven’t paid any attention to the local news in eons. As I slave during the graveyard shift, I ain’t got alotta time for the “outdoors” (other than early AM disc golf rounds), but it’s good to know that the Fox is now less toxic.

I am sick and tired of flipping burgers. My body is now a lot less robust for burger flipping. Being about the same age as the Great Arm of Butte, the body would die for a boring desk job doing other people’s taxes. Problem is, pigs won’t hire me to do their taxes or cook their books.
