These are not my rankings. I looked at 6 draft sites (NFL.com, ESPN, Draft Wire, CBS, PFF, and Draft Network). These are the consensus rankings from those 6 sites. The boards were all over the place this year--for obvious reasons. A majority of the players had a 100 pick differential across the boards. Much moreso than previous years. I looked at the 6 sites and added every player that had at least a 4th round grade on one of the sites + a few other players thrown in. 225 players qualified--even though there are only 140 players drafted in the first 4 rounds.

This is the consensus rankings. After the player and school is their high and low ranks at each respective position among the guys I added to the spreadsheet + their high and low round projection (with a wide spread on most of these guys).

I wish I had gotten the draft bug a little sooner... about a month sooner. I read scouting reports on all of these players. I watched highlights on most of the team. However, I ran out of time to watch game cutups on all of them. I got through most of the offensive players and about half of the CBs and safeties, but I'm not going to have enough time to get to all of the DL, EDGE, and LBs.

I watched full games of Zaven Collins, Jabril Cox, Pete Werner and Jamin Davis. Werner was the most complete linebacker I watched. I thought Zaven Collins played soft. Jamin Davis has no feel for the game. Cox looked a touch slow. Werner can run. He’s fairly confident and under control in how he triggers. And he takes on blockers with the most force. There is no way Werner is round 3-4. He’s more like 2 with a slight chance to go at the end of round 1.

My QB Thoughts

The top tier is very good. I think the top 3 are legit top 5 picks most years. I think Lance is a legit top 10 pick most years. Like many, I'm not super high on Mac Jones. I have him more as a mid to late 1st round guy. After those guys it's a weak class. My #6 is Kellen Mond. If he were to drop to the mid rounds, the Packers might think about him. The guy has mobility, arm strength, and accuracy--but I think his unusual throwing motion throws people off. It's a bit like Aaron Rodgers at Cal. If you let him sit on the bench for a couple of years and let his release point become more natural, you might have something.

I would trade him for Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, and Lance. I probably would not trade him for Mac Jones. I would not trade him for any of the rest. He would be in a late round tier with Mac Jones for me.

My RB Thoughts

This is a weak RB class. There is no super elite RB (like Barkley or McCaffrey), and the depth is poor. I have a crush on Javonte Williams, and he is my #1 RB. Last year's class (Taylor, Swift, Edwards-Helaire, Dillon, Akers, Dobbins, Moss, Gibson) was much better. Najee Harris is a good all around RB, but I question his speed. I think he might be a high 4.6s guys. He's like a slower Le'Veon Bell. I like Khalil Herbert more than most--although I don't know if he's ideal for the Packers system. Other than that, not much. Trey Sermon looked great at the end of the year, but he played second fiddle at Oklahoma. Then, he transferred to Ohio State and didn't do much until the end of the year. There's some intrigure there, but not a good year if you need an RB.

My WR Thoughts

It's a solid class for WRs, but maybe not as good as advertised. Not as good as last year. There's not a lot of size this year compared to last year. Overabundance of slot or jet motion type WRs. Similar to last year, you have a consensus top 3 of an Alabama WR with speed (Ruggs vs Waddle), an Alabama WR with great production and route running but average measurables (Jeudy vs Smith), and a third WR with the entire package (Chase vs Lamb). Like last year, when I had Lamb #1, I have Chase #1.

In retrospect it seems like there are a few guys from last year who will be better than Ruggs and Jeudy. I think the same is a good possibility this year--with Rashod Bateman being my top other guy. He's similar to Justin Jefferson last year. Great college production and looks great on tape, but experts questioned their athleticism. Then, they both tested well. In fact, Bateman is an athletic clone to Jefferson.

Some guys that I'm higher on than most are Dyami Brown, D'wayne Eskridge (although I've soured on him slightly because of his hands), and Josh Palmer. Some guys that I'm lower on than most are Rondale Moore (mostly slot motion guy who I don't think you can take high), Nico Collins (looks like he'll have a hard time getting open in the NFL), Tutu Atwell (see Moore), and Sage Surratt (slow as molasses)

From what little I've seen of Nico Collins at Michigan, and I don't watch much any more, I'd agree with your assessment of his inability to get open consistently.

I didn't mark any WRs as not a scheme fit because MLF/Gute seem to like the big WRs who can block on the outside, but they also like that smaller jet motion guy. Guys that probably don't meet the athletic threshold include Dazz Newsome, Frank Darby, Sage Surratt, Marlon Williams, Osirus Mitchell, Tyler Vaughns, maybe Amon-Ra St. Brown.

I have seen a couple mocks where both Jenkins and Bateman are available at 29. That is an amazing choice to make. I think of Bateman as a surefire pro bowler. But I also do Jenkins.

I'd probably lean Bateman and then try to move up to get Radunz in round 2.

Thinking about it more, I'd probably rate Love above Jones this year. I knew there were some statistics not in his favor, but when you dig into the stats it gives you even more pause:

1) His pressure rate was historically low. No NFL QB has had a lower pressure rate--the only one that came close was Peyton Manning (I think in 2004). It was within 2% of Jones. Jones did well against the blitz, but Alabama is so disciplined that he rarely got pressured when he was blitzed.
2) A whopping 58% of his passes were RPOs, screens, or play action passes. That was the third highest rate in college last year.
3) His average depth of target was low.
4) His arm strength is pedestrian. It was exactly dead average for a COLLEGE QB. If Jones and Lawrence (who doesn't even have the strongest arm in this draft, that's probably Lance) both threw a 15 yard pass, when Lawrence's ball arrived, Jones ball would lag by 1 1/2 yards. That's considerable.
5) Small sample size. He played 13 college games. People are worried about Lance's 17 games, but apparently not Jones. Should be noted that Jones had considerably more pass attempts. Still, Jones did not have many college starts.

My TE Thoughts

A generational talent in Kyle Pitts. The rest of the class is below average. I like Tommy Tremble a lot for the MLF system. When I originally added players to my spreadsheet, Matt Bushman was given a 4th round grade by somebody. In the updated standings nobody gave him higher than 7th round grade, but I kind of like him as a late round flier. He's not much of a blocker and has injury concerns, but he has some solid tape. Jacob Harris is a raw, athletic WR that is 6'5" 220 pounds--but some project him to move to TE. As a WR prospect, he's undraftable. As a TE prospect, he has potential. He has ridiculous measurables, so if he can gain weight and maintain some of the athleticism, he's worth a flier late. It will take a couple of years before he contributes. On the plus side, he was a willing blocker as a WR and even played inline at times at UCF.

My OT Thoughts

Good group. I'm not sure Sewell is as flawless as he looked a couple of years ago, but I can't put Slater or Darrisaw over him. Lots of OTs that are athletic enough to fit the Packers scheme. That probably has something to do with only Pro Day test results (no combine). The only guys that I marked down for not meeting testing minimums are Jalen Mayfield and James Hudson.

I like Dillon Radunz for the Packers scheme. Walker Little has major injury concerns, but his tape from late 2018 and the one game he played in 2019 before he tore his ACL is some of the best tape in this draft... probably even better than Teven Jenkins. I wouldn't draft him in round 1, but he could be a steal later in the draft. I'm not as high on another riser, Brady Christianson. Robert Hainsey seems like the typical Packers pick--a college OT that they'd move to OG. I like him as a midround pick for the Packers.

My Interior OL Thoughts

Another below average group. There's merit that this draft is below average in talent. I wouldn't take an interior OL in the first round--unless they are an elite prospect. Think Quenton Nelson. I don't have a 1st round grade on any interior OL this year. I think Vera-Tucker is a tad overrated. Landon Dickerson would be close without the injury concerns. I'd have him rated higher than Vera-Tucker, if not for the injury concerns.

About half of interior OL don't fit the athletic profile that the Packers like. Not that unusual, so that's probably why the Packers take college OTs and convert them to OG.

I like Ben Cleveland more than the consensus, if you use a power scheme. I like Kendrick Green more than the consensus, if you value movement in your scheme. Josh Myers is a guy I like less than the consensus. His tape from this year is not good.

My S Thoughts

Pretty good group here. I think Holland is slightly underrated. I think Moehrig is slightly overrated. I have Holland as my #1 safety. They both carry late 1st round grades for me. Holland is the most versatile safety in the class, and I think he'd be a good fit with the Packers. Andre Cisco is really intriguing. He didn't test at the Syracuse Pro Day, but he's probably the most athletic safety in a 6'1" 216 frame. He's the best single high S in this class. Great range on the backend. Not as good at man coverage. He carries himself like an alpha dog and plays with an edge--which I like in a safety. He'll need to be coached up because he plays out of control, but I question the coaching at Syracuse because all three of their DB prospects had disappointing years. Pretty good prospects in the middle rounds of the draft. I'm higher on Tyree Gillepsie than most. Darrick Forrest is my deep sleeper in this group. I like him better than his Cincinnati teammate, James Wiggins. Richard LeCounte and Paris Ford tested so poorly that they are pretty much undraftable for me (ran around 4.8 40s with poor agility numbers)--even with okay tape.

My CB Thoughts

Pretty good group. I think there will be more CBs drafted in the first three rounds this year than last year. There's a lot of size to this year's group. Teams that need an outside CB should be able to get one. Measurables are better too, but you can probably attribute that Pro Day test results. Read an article where you can add about 0.12 seconds to most prospect's 40 time--and it would be more accurate than the Pro Day times. There are a few places (e.g. North Carolina) where the times seem more accurate, but they are few and far between.

Farley would go top 10 without the back issues. I read that there's an 80% chance that he won't continue to have problems with his back, but I don't know where you put him--knowing that he has a 20% chance of being out of football relatively soon. There's a really solid group of 2nd round outside CBs. Marco Wilson is one guy that I'm higher on than most. I also like a couple of slot CBs--Tre Brown and Thomas Graham--more than most, but they probably don't meet the Packers height requirement. I'm kind of iffy on Ifeatu Melifonwu. He's very scheme (zone) dependent. Shaun Wade (who was pretty much terrible last year) and Shakur Brown (whose measurables make him undraftable for me) are couple of other guys I'm not high on.

As I was researching players for the draft contest, which I'll strike out at, I realized...there are really a LOT of solid OG/OT prospects that should be available in round 4/5. Hoping we wait on that position unless a stud falls to us (which is unlikely.

The WR level 2 guys were disappointing as compared to last year. Not much at DL after Barmore so almost gotta take him if he falls to you. I still like Collins but a good ILG will be there in round two

Bateman might be my guy; of course I'm prettty much eliminating the possibility by wanting him :))

Jeremiah has Jenkins (24), JOK (19), Newsome (20) and Collins (16) gone before 29. He does not have Bateman, Toney, Moehrig, Barmore or Cosmi going in the 1st round. That would be an interesting situation for Gute.

My preference in that scenario would be: Barmore, Bateman, Radunz, Toney, Moehrig (Holland instead, if he were available), Cosmi. I'd rather have Radunz + our two 4th round picks than Jenkins - our two 4th round picks. I have Jenkins slightly higher than Radunz, but not enough to give up two 4th round picks.

Looking at some of the LBs now. I do like JOK. I'm surprised I do because I wasn't as high on Isaiah Simmons as others last year. I doubt he drops to #29 and not sure I'd trade up for an ILB, but if he's just sitting there, I'm on board.

I actually messed up CB with the guys that meet the minimum requirements for the Packers. The Packers have generally required CBs to be over 5'10" (I think Jaire was the shortest at 5'10 1/2"), 4.56 in the 40, 76 in SpR that I calculate that is a combination of shuttle and 3 cone, and 74 in ExR that I calculate that is a combination of vertical and broad jump. Samuel doesn't meet height requirement. Campbell, Melifonwu, and Trill Williams don't meet SpR requirement (they were stiff in the agility drills).

I've been reading the Acme Packing Company site, and they seem to have some fine, in-depth articles that look at the players in a way similar to you. That is, they're trying to judge them by the standards they think the Packers have generally used in the past. So it's not just a vanilla "who are the highest rated players?" but "who, given the Packers' past standards for judging players, do we think are the players who rank highest within that system?"

One corner they mention is a guy named McPhearson from, I think, Texas Tech. Any particular reason he's not on your list at all? His overall athletic rating, weighted to what they think the Packers' standards are, is a 10 of 10. They project him to go in round three or four. What say you?

I mentioned this in the first post, but I only added players that were in the top 150 (4th round, actually high 5th round, or higher) in one of the 6 draft sites I used. I didn't have time to analyze every prospect, so my spreadsheet contains only players that got a top 150 ranking from one of the six boards. That means the guy you are talking about was not considered a top 150 prospect on any of those boards.
