Bengals 3-1, coming off 24-21 win over Jax.

Bengals rank 22nd in overall offense. 23rd in passing and 22nd in rushing. Joe Burrow has completed 73% of his passes for 988 yards with 9 TD's and 4 INT's. Ja'Marr chase is leading receiver with 297 yards and 4 TD's. Joe Mixon has 353 yards rushing with 2 TD's but may be questionable for this week.

Defensively, Bengals are 7th overall, 14th against the pass and 9th against the rush. Opponents have had just 4 TD passes and 3 INT's in 4 games. Opponents have averaged just 3.7 yards per rushing attempt with 4 TD's. Defense has 11 sacks in 4 games. DT B.J. Hill leads Bengals with 3 sacks.

Packers enter this week with the #25 offense, 24th in passing and 24th in rushing.

Defensively, Packers are 6th overall, 8th in passing and 12th in rushing.

Whether or not Mixon plays is a big deal as no one else on the Bengals has more than 28 yards rushing. Bengals receivers are pretty good though and could create problems with Alexander out.

Overall though, the Bengals despite their record haven't been overly impressive. Their wins include an overtime win over Vikings and a 3 point win over Jacksonville. Their loss was to the Bears.

Nice summary. Should be a W

What’s gone right for the Packers (according to me and an article on Packers Wire I just read):

1) Rodgers when throwing in rhythm.
2) Backfield tandem.
3) OL, despite the inexperience, has been at least average. According to ESPN stats, they are top 10 (barely) in both pass rush win rate and rushing win rate.
4) Clark has been a beast. The only interior DL with at least 15 pressures and 10 run stops.
5) Gary has been really good. One of only 7 players with at least 15 pressures and 6 QB hits. Also has one of the best grades against the run among edge rushers. I believe he was first either before or after the last game. Can’t remember when I read that.
6) Campbell has been a stud (4th highest rated ILB so far).
7) Stokes has been targeted a lot, but has held up well for a rookie. Has an interception and leads the league with 6 passes defensed.
8) The punter and kicker.

CIN WRs are good, Mixon and Burrow too. Expecting a high scoring game. Will be a test for the GB pass rush and a depleted secondary.

When Aaron Rodgers throws the ball in 2.5 seconds or less, his passer rating is 118.9 this season, per Pro Football Focus. It drops to 76.9 when he holds the ball for more than 2.5 seconds. He’s almost unstoppable when playing on time.

he Packers defense is slowly improving, but the group is a mess in a few important situations. On third down, the Packers defense is allowing conversions on 48.8 percent of opportunities, ranking 29th among 32 teams. It’s even worse in the red zone. Opponents have scored touchdowns on all 11 trips into the red zone against Green Bay. The Packers and Carolina Panthers are the only teams in football without a red-zone stop this season.

While 17 passes have been completed into De’Vondre Campbell’s coverage area, the veteran linebacker has made sure the catches have created little to no impact. Overall, those completions – on 26 targets – have netted only 86 yards. Campbell also has two pass breakups and an interception in coverage, and his eight “stops,” or tackles creating an offensive failure, rank second among all linebackers, per Pro Football Focus.

Packers signed CB Rasul Douglas off Arizona’s practice squad. The 2017 third-round pick had nine PBUs for the Panthers last year.

Douglas is a former Eagles pick. He's big (6-3, 209) and has started 29 games in 4 years.

In game against Carolina last year Rodgers completed 5 of 5 passes against Douglas for 44 yards.

Every year I throw this out there. Last year I said it with the Colts. Two seasons ago I said it with the Chargers. When you are a team with Owl aspirations you have to go on the road, out of conference and beat good not great teams. Cincinatti fits that mold. They are legit over .500. They have some talent, but need some work still. If the Packers are a super bowl team they will win this game. We lost the last 2 I benchmarked as such. If we can't win this game, we are not a super bowl team....however, add back in the 2 OL, Jaire and Z late in the year and that narrative can change even if we lose.

If I had to bet, I'd take the 3 points and bet cincy.

Will Jaire Alexander need surgery?

"We're still gathering opinions on that," Packers coach Matt LaFleur said. "I know we're going to try to avoid that at all costs."

When asked whether Alexander is out at least this week vs. CIN, LaFleur said: "Most likely."

Didn't the Packers already prove they can do that when they went on the road and beat the 49ers? Do they have to win 'em all?

I thought the same thing. The fact that 3 days after the injury they're not ruling out surgery suggests the injury is on the severe side of things.

Shoulders can definitely be squirrely and I am sure they're checking with the best specialists. But I agree it doesn't sound at all encouraging. Shoulders are not the thing you want to injure for sure.

Elgton Jenkins (ankle) returned to practice Thursday. No Dennis Kelly during portion of practice open to media.

Kevin King continues to practice.

Josh Myers attended practice but wasn’t participating. No Jaire or Rivers. Guessing vet day for Marcedes too. #Packers

LaFleur with a good line about the Packers playing their first noon game of the season at Cincy (1 pm ET):

"They've got to wake up with their piss hot."

When asked how exactly one gets his "piss hot," he said "it's just a mentality. ... It should naturally be hot, right?"

If Myers can't go, either Lucas Patrick or Jenkins would likely play Center. Myers has had a finger injury for a while, although it did not cause him to miss practice last week.

I'm thinking one of the primary reasons for improvement of the Packers D was the absence of Kevin King and Tyler Lancaster - addition by subtraction. Now, apparently Lancaster is back and King stands a strong chance of coming back. That to me is bad news. I'd much rather have Keke or Slayton playing than Lancaster, and I'd rather see anybody out there than King - Ento, Jean-Charles, Yiadom, Henry Black with Savage moving to Safety, Douglas, etc.

Last time they crossed that number was Oct. 23, 2016 vs Cleveland.

Uh, no. Quantity we've got - in approximate order, Savage (with Black at Safety), Sullivan, Ento, Jean-Charles, Hollman, Douglas, Yiadem, and wa-a-a-ay down at the bottom of the list, Kevin King. If we can't get a better alternative than any of those, just go with what we have and do what other teams do - don't leave the replacement alone out there on Jaire Island.

It's an absolute disaster if King plays and they leave him in man coverage singled up on anybody. Somebody go and hit King in the head and renew his concussion.

LaFleur on Alexander:

"We got better clarity with that. Certainly, it’s just one of those things we're going to let heal and see where it's at down the line before making that determination (on surgery). We’re hopeful it’ll heal the right way and he’ll be back with us in a matter of weeks"

Also said Elgton Jenkins will be a gametime decision.

KYP with a party of 5. Looks like great weather. I'm wearing my Nitschke jersey. Grandson has his Burrows top. He still doesn't get what's happening. I'd say 10,000 GBP fan's. They only get here every 8 years.

Packers haven't won in Cincy in this century. Last win for us was in '98.

Bengals took a 14-0 lead. Packers scored the next 30, then Bengals scored the last 20. Winning TD was a 58 yard fumble rerturn. Andy Dalton had a better day than Rodgers. Packers got the ball down to the Bengals 20 late but turned it over on downs.
