Packers have clinched NFC North. Lions and Bears have been eliminated from the playoffs. That is all.

I’m crossing my fingers for some health breaks down the stretch. Even if we don’t get our guys back, at least don’t lose any more and we have a chance to be playing our best ball in January.

Dallas has a decent chance of winning out. If that happens, we need to win out too.

I’m hoping for low wind games at home. Both Cleveland and Minnesota have the RBs to really push us in a wind game. We have Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams so I think a balanced game gives us a better chance.

I wouldn't want to see SF in the playoffs. I hope GB can bag that #1 seed and get a week off.

The way things are going, I may need to root against my second favorite team. The say they've been stumbling and bumbling on offense, though, they may drop a game regardless.

Of course, if the Packers run the table, as they should, noting else matters.

I hadn't watched them for over a month.

Holy cow they've fixed what was ailing them.

They look tough and physical.

And Jimmy G just threw his second pick. lol

If what you've got posted is accurate, I believe the 49ers loss put the Cowboys into the playoffs.

49ers losing throws that #6 seed up for grabs. Those three 7-7 teams with an opportunity.

It's not out of the question that the Packers could have the #1 seed wrapped up by the time we play the Lions - turning the game into a Love-fest.

I believe they have to win their next 2, and they need the Cowboys to lose to Arizona.

IDK if it's a good thing to have it locked up by the Lions game.

I'm always a little concerned about when a team gets too much time off.

Arizona has been stinking it up, but so have the Cowboys recently.

I tend to agree with Cumby about the time off thing, but it might help Rodgers' toe, etc.

How is your numerology book going? Are you going to be posting deep insight about the number 42 anytime soon?

The eagles still have a shot to be in it. They could play the cowboys tough.

If the Packers can manage to beat the Vikes (big IF the way the D played tonight) next weekend, they will be the first team to ever record 13 wins in three straight seasons.

Actually, it's a Cardinals-like fade. 2019-2021 after October they are now 9-15.

I'm almost as concerned about the Packers clinching homefield next week and not having thus a meaningful game for three weeks. The Flower's record after byes is not good, and this team has lost its focus.

MLF is 3-2 after byes (2-0 in the divisional round after getting a bye for wild card weekend), and the two losses were to the eventual NFC representative in the Super Bowl (San Fran in 2019, Tampa in 2020).

Assuming everybody wins out, our first game would I think be against the 4th seed - Tampa. I wouldn't say that would be scary, but it would be kinda like last season. Pick your poison - any of the 2nd - 4th seeds would be tough, but getting them at home, we ought to be able to handle them.

HarveyWallbangers
12-27-2021, 02:23 PM
I don’t see the Rams winning both games, so there’s a good chance that the Buccaneers are the #3 seed. If the #6 seed is San Fran, Brady vs Jimmy G might be fun.

This is more than just a bye, if the Packers wrap up the #1 seed before the Detroit game. I'm not saying I don't hope for that - I always want the Pack to do well - but I'm concerned that this team is in a funk, and I wonder what is necessary to get them to play with the focus they seemed to have about six weeks ago.

There have also been instances of teams going into the playoffs playing poorly, then suddenly rocking it in the playoffs. So anything can happen, and the hot team going in - Dallas, at the moment - doesn't always pan out.

But the Packers do seem slow starters after a bye. 3-2 isn't bad, but comparing that to his overall record, well, it's not as good, either.

Thus ends the 49ers career of Jimmy G, who oscillated between below average and above average, and always looked better than that because of the circumstances in which he played.
