The lowdown from JSO:

Fox News host gets Favre interview

Inside TV & Radio

Tim Cuprisin

Dairylander Greta Van Susteren is on familiar turf today, at Lambeau Field, where she's scheduled to do a dream interview with Brett Favre.

The Fox News Channel host has waived her channel's "fair and balanced" rule for the show that airs tonight at 9, volunteering to Inside TV & Radio that she's a stockholder in the Green Bay Packers.

"I own one share," she says. "I expect full bias. So shoot me."

The Appleton native grew up on the Packers in the 1960s and talks about the pictures she has, somewhere, of Paul Hornung and Bart Starr.

"My only mistake was marrying a guy who was a Baltimore Colts fan. I'm still married to him, as a matter of fact."

She says husband John Coale still rues the day that the Colts moved out of Baltimore. And she has at least one question prepared to maintain domestic bliss.

"I have to ask a question about Johnny Unitas. It better be a good one, or I'll be moving back to Wisconsin permanently."

Van Susteren has reasons beyond nostalgia for continuing to wear her green-and-gold heart on her sleeve.

"When you go to a Packer game, you're not cheering for some fat cat's team," she says. "Second thing, if I go to a game, or I watch it, it's at Lambeau Field. It's not named after some company that went bankrupt or robbed a pension plan."

She says her last Lambeau visit was a couple of years back, at an exhibition game.

Van Susteren hopes news doesn't break out Friday, so she can spend another evening in Wisconsin. She's planning an informal reunion Friday with some high school pals in Appleton.

PACKER FANS, LISTEN TO ME!!!!

Brett did NOT EVEN SPEAK ABOUT THE TEAM. He spoke about the tradition in Green Bay, how great the fans are, how nice the field is and about his family history and his foundation. They NEVER spoke about Brett retiring, coming back or going to a different team. I really hope Ballhawk was being sarcastic because it is silly rumors like that, that just drive me insane.

MJZiggy
09-14-2006, 10:02 PM
That Green Bay is different from other places; Lambeau is different from other venues and it's because the people there make it so special; that there are high population teams (think LA Raiders) that can't fill the stadium and the fact that GB fans will the tix to their kids and fill that stadium no matter what says a lot. They don't have a lot of advertising around the stadium and they still call it Lambeau Field even though they could have sold the naming rights; that the people in Wisconsin donated almost $1mil to Katrina relief and he's grateful for that. He loves it there because of the people and that it's a small town. Yes, I see your point about him wanting to leave. He's just itching. He also talked about the Oakland game and his foundation and Deanna's foundation and what they do.

BallHawk

Yeah, it was sarcasm. Don't worry gbpackfan, it happens to all of us.

Digital Dean, how do you not like Olbermann. He's the funniest news guy on TV(I'm counting intentional humor, if we were talking unintentional humor Coulter and O'Reiley would take the cake.) He's a good speaker, and if you heard his 9/11 speach on Monday, it was heartfelt and very good. The fued he has with Coulter-geist, as he calls her, is hilarious.

I find O'Reiley a blowhard, who shoves opinions down peoples throat. Last night he got these students to come onto his show and talk about some offensive cartoon. I love it when he brings in youth to come in and suck up to him.

Ann Coulter is the biggest power-bitch of the last 100 years. My God, she thinks she's clever because she calls everybody a fag and godless. If any of you are in the library in the upcoming days, pick up "Godless, the Church of Liberalism." It is the funniest shit you will read in a while. I'm serious it is so ludacris, it's spleen-splitting.

Nancy Grace is annoying. She acts so heartfelt about everything.

"Ok, we have a man here, Mr. Joe Humphrey. He has been accused of misdemeanor sexual assault, for groping at a local Wal-Mart. Ok, this "human-being" if you can call him that, should be locked up for life. He is a predator, and is a danger to society."

She finds people guilty, the moment the case is brought to her attention. I.E. the Natalie Holloway case. About 10 people have been arrested, and each time one is arrested, she is convinced it is them. It's almost sad to see it progress.

I love how Nancy acts heartfelt about every single thing. She plays it well, she really does. I remember when the John Mark Karr Fiasco was going on, she ended her show.

"Good night JonBennet, you have found justice."

I mean, her case was tragic, but c'mon Nancy, don't go all blood-and-thunder on us. The whole thing ended up being fake anyways.

My favorites are, Olbermann, Anderson Cooper, Paula Zahn is OK, and Miles O'Brien is pretty good too.

Al Franken is so-so. Somedays he is funny, other days he annoys me. One thing that pissed me off about him was, during the Palestinean/Isreal fighting in the MiddleEast, he was answering questions from hisfrom his callers. For some reason, he had his intern or secreteary, there with him. When somebody asked if the Palestineans were in the wrong, he totally changed his opinion, because his intern with him, was Iranian. It made him look like he had no spine.

The Book, Lies and the Lying Liars who tell them, is actually pretty funny.

It's something that has tried to happen, but there would be a lot of outrage over it. Can you imagine the frozen tundra of Menard's Field.

Actually, not long after the stadium referendum passed (barely) the next referendum we had to vote on was for naming rights. It made me sick that it passed. For whatever reason though, the Pack did not sell the naming rights. They sold naming rights to the 4 main gates going into the stadium instead hoping that would bring enough revenue so they didn't have to rename the stadium itself. Very smart move IMO.

Luckily, there is pretty much only one company in GB with the cash to buy the naming rights..... "Ladies and gentlemen, we welcome you to the Oneida Casino Field on the Frozen Tundra....the only venture in the NFL where you can get live slots and NFL action from one seat"

The Oneida's bought the naming rights to the main entrance to Lambeau though, so I think they're satisfied with that!

Paul Brown was one of the two most successful head coaches in the history of the NFL. Possibly the most successful and certainly the most innovative.

Except for the fact that Cincy is not Cleveland (where the stadium should be so named), how is that any different than the way the Packers named their stadium?

Ok, if it's Cincy instead of Cleveland, I guess one might consider it a little odd. But would it really be so strange if some connection to Vince Lombardi wanted to name their stadium the Vince Lombardi Stadium, given that the Packers' stadium is already named?
