I wonder if Packers give him a shot at RT job. His arms are kind of short for a T.

Seems like an appropriate pick. Needed help protecting rodgers early this season before we get Jenkins and bak back. Does he come from zone scheme though?
I am kinda suprised we went with a 'poor' athlete at this point.

I give zero fuck about this pick.

Btw, upnorth, if the Iranian Stallion ain’t ready for training camp, something must be fucked. The knee has been repaired eons ago.

His RAS score is average if you consider him a Tackle. (8.17) But if you consider him a Guard, it's mostly elite. (9.35) Difference being he lacks desired length for Tackle. His best attribute seems to be explosion in his legs.

Weird, my post didnt work and cutoff have the quote,

Anyway it was repaired and should be good. He played half a game and was shut down in the playoffs. Massive redflag to me.
That would be 2 AP gone from o this season. That's more AP players than the rest of the nfcn have all together on o I think.

oh, I don't know. A RAS over 8 is pretty good. I don't think you want him playing LT, but I think you could try him at RT. His agility numbers are about where GB likes them, and he's got good explosion. Bahktiari is on the small side but is more of a technician and he's done ok. I worry about those 6'8" behemoths anyway, too easy for them to lose leverage or be stiff waist-benders. He'll certainly be competition for Njiman at RT and Newman at RG.

Apparently Lafluer expect s him to be a tackle from the start. Coach speak bs or honest?

I think theyll try him at tackle. It sounds like hes got a shot. That would be gold if you end up with a solid tackle in the 3rd round.

Pre-Draft Analysis
Rhyan is expected to kick inside to guard after starting 31 games at left tackle at UCLA. He is a natural knee bender and an easy mover in pass protection. He stuns pass-rushers with his punch, and his shorter arms should be less of an issue at guard. Rhyan is an aggressive run-blocker with good short-area power and big hands to latch onto defenders. -- Steve Muench

Post-Draft Analysis
With versatility to play at both guard and tackle, Rhyan provides value as a swing option at both spots. He is a strong dependable blocker at the point of attack, and he has nimble feet as a pass protector. The Packers needed help at offensive tackle, and Rhyan is a natural fit at right tackle opposite David Bakhtiari. -- Jordan Reid

I now doubt it. Tom probably has a better chance.

Hes a big ugly with tackle feet. Maybe a Mark Tauscher sort of tackle. Tausch 32 1/4 vs Rhyan 32 3/8 arms. Similar body types. Similar athleticism. Similar arm length.

They drafted him high thinking he has tackle versatility with a high floor because hes a sure fit at guard.

I think theyre gonna play him at tackle. Lafleur has no reason to lie

Another guy with short arms? Is this part of the new Packer profile for offensive linemen?

They'll likely try him at OT, but I don't think he'll be able to stick there. His tape was pretty ordinary at LT. Watch the Oregon and LSU tape. He didn't play OG, so it was a tough eval because it was all about projecting him to OG. He has great size and solid movement skills for the interior. It's possible he pulls a Tauscher and sticks at OT (I'm not sure what Tausch's arm length was), but I think it's more likely that he competes with Newman for the RG spot.

I agree he's a Guard. Actually though, Tauscher's arms were even shorter than Rhyan. Looking at Tauscher's numbers, it's amazing what he did. He was an inch shorter than Rhyan, shorter arms, less vertical jump by 6 inches, and slower 3 cone. Talk about a guy who overcame the odds.

I keep thinking of Tausch when I look at this guy. Big, ugly, good feet. Hes a safe bet to be good at guard, but I think hes got a shot at tackle too. Hes so big and has good feet. That offsets the length a little bit.
