The Love Watch continues. First time he will have played in 2 consecutive games for Packers. Hopefully receivers won't turn would be catches into INT's.

The battle for #3 Edge is on. Enagbare and Kobe Jones had a good week. Jonathan Garvin needs to pick up the pace.

Hoping Tom plays well enough that he's an option at RT if Jenkins can't go Week 1.

I'd say by that second preseason game of your third year you ought to be able to show you belong in the NFL. Will he be a Matt Hasselback or Aaron Brooks, or will he be Brian Brohm?

Let's see how the offensive line does.

He's not Brohm. I think everybody knew quite quickly that pick was a mistake.

Todd McShay thought Brohm had more upside then ARod and would be the starter in a couple of years.

Good throw by Love on 3rd and three, but it ate Doubs up when he switched to looking over the sideline shoulder. He'll improve at that, I think.

Refs shit down their legs on third and five after Jean-Charles makes a nice pass breakup. Called DPI. Would have been a nice no-call, but zebras were too busy looking for shit paper.

I think TJ Slaton can help us as the 5th guy. He had pretty good knock back in the run game. With Lancaster gone, we need a guy who can backup nose.

08-19-2022, 09:55 PM
The guy kicking ass this quarter has been Chris Slayton (#60). But yes, he and Heflin look good. Unfortunately a BS penalty on the latter negated a sack by the former.

If Love has to play this year, he could go .500 and that might be enough to get us through till 12 makes it back.

I thought Love looked good when he had the starting O-line and Doubs and Winfree out there. Got kind of ragged after that, as it often does in preseason games.

I don't know what they're going to do on the DL: Chris Slayton and Heflin both deserve to make the team, but there aren't enough spots.

Tyler Davis, Good Lord.

Danny Etling=Taysom Hill?

I don’t know if Amari Rodgers is gonna be any good. Athletically, he has enough. But tracking the ball, I think he’s got a glaring weakness and it will bite him in the ass when he’s dropping the ball.

Agree. I think we'd see Watkins in preseason if he was on the bubble or being shopped a la Funchess last year.
Not that I really think it will happen, but I think if Gute could get a reasonably good player or pick in return he'd deal Amari. In fairness to Amari, he looks a lot better this year but I suspect when the games matter he remains buried on the depth chart. Being a R3 pick makes you a near-lock for at least two seasons.

Starting to think they keep 7 WRs, but when naming your starters it's Lazard and take-your-pick from everyone else at this point.

Danny Davis either makes the PS or goes on IR.

i feel a lot better today about love then i did a couple days ago

he was throwing darts last night with nice tight spirals

i kinda hate to say it, but that one play deep in the endzone really reminded me of #4. the one where he just seemed to keep running around in circles, then got the pass off. too bad it was just a tad wide and OOB

like others have said, watkins is already a lock or else he'd be playing

i've seen nothing really that makes me think they should keep amari rodgers. why keep him, to be a returner? he's not very good at that

doubs is very hit or miss or raw as hell or something. guy can get open with the best of them, but then its 50/50 if he can complete the play. if he can get his head out of his ass he'll be a hell of a player. until then, he could frustrate the hell out of all of us

He looked really good last night. His passes were really on point. Maybe all that focus on fundamentals and being in good balance for every pass is starting to pay off. Plus the time in the offense.

Love looked good. McKenzie looked good. Kiondre Thomas is making a strong push for a roster spot. Winfree looks like he deserves a spot. Zach Tom looked good again. I’m starting to think the OL combinations should be:

Without #74 and #69:
Yosh, Runyan, Myers, Newman or Hanson, Tom

Without just #69:
Yosh, Runyan, Myers, Jenkins, Tom

With both #69 and #74:
Bakh, Runyan, Myers, Jenkins, Yosh

We still haven't seen yosh play RT. I'm not convinced he can swap so easily. My guess at week 15 is:

Bak, runyan, Myers, Tom, Jenkins if all are healthy.

I just now was finally able to see the game on NFL Network.

Love did look pretty good - better judgment than the first game but still some accuracy problems and a couple times I said to myself, that just didn't have Rodgers-like zip on it. He'll be a decent back up, though.

Winfree looked good - I now see him staying as the 7th WR and Amari getting cut.

The new kicker is a keeper. We need a good one on the PS with Crosby getting old. O'Donnell looked better than last week punting but still not very good.

Interesting at RB. Goodson obviously was a lot better runner, but P. Taylor did ok on special teams.

I bet they still keep Tyler Davis even as shitty as he has looked these two games.

Devante Wyatt was kinda a disappointment considering the huge expectations. It's gonna come down to C. Slaton or Heflin, and based on that game, Slaton gets it.

Enigbare looked good again. I thought Tipa outplayed Hamilton, and I didn't even notice Garvin.

Vernon Scott seems too fragile. I didn't see him do anything worthwhile even before his injury. Abernathy and Davis looked good even if it was mostly against scrubs. Jean-Charles looked better than I've seen him (which still ain't saying much. Kiondre Thomas did good against the run, but he wasn't much in coverage. Gafford's speed looks good on paper, but I couldn't see it on the field. He was poor in coverage and tentative returning kicks, maybe because of crappy blocking.

For all the talk, Bisaccia's special teams looked as bad as last year. Hopefully it improves after the roster cuts.

All the non-53 players being evaluated probably factors in to the special teams woes quite a bit. Gotta say, though, I am not fond of Amari Rodgers as a punt returner.

RashanGary
08-22-2022, 05:37 PM
I have strong doubts on Amari Rodgers. Over the years, guys were put at punt returner and just had a feel for tracking the ball. Jennings, Cobb, Tramon, etc…. But Amari has no feel for it. I estimate that quality transferring over to not tracking the ball as well on passes too. He lacks length, top speed, and the ability to track the ball. I think it’s too much to overcome.

3rd try just giving up and copying and pasting it

I hope the whammy will work on AROD the WR but I doubt it. Gute's ego aside, I think he should get traded if we can get anything, or cut. He seems to be our typical 3rd round pick.

Perhaps I need to light a fire under HW's favorite Watson and pre judge him by starting to label him with a terrible nickname. Hmmmmm....the Fargo Fraud, the Bison Bust. All the possibilities. I drove one Packer WR into a HOF career; should I try a 2nd ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????????????

Both good nicknames. I’m down on Watson too. I’ll double reverse whammy it with you.

Chrissy, the fraud of Fargo, isn’t it.
