Colts lead Vikings 30-0 in 2nd quarter. Good news if you've given up on Packers season and just want higher draft pick. Good news if you just like to see the Vikings lose.

What on earth happened to the Vikings? Down 30-0 with 5 minutes left in the second quarter.

- Blocked punt
- Fumble
- Pick 6
- Fake punt that went incomplete
- Went for it on 4th and short and got stuffed

That's all I can remember. It's been a great game - love seeing a division rival get hammered.

just caught that score and thought it was a typo. Special teams TD and a pick-six. Vikings are going to win the NFCN but they aren't a SB contender. If you look at their advanced stats they're not as good as their record would suggest. Their defense has given up a LOT of yards.
They've been getting almost every lucky bounce this season -- an occasional Packers trait -- and that luck can go cold suddenly.

yeah, Colts crapping the bed. That's what happens when your owner decides to fire the coach and hire an ex-player he bumped into at the country club and has a few drinks with.

Wow. Just wow.

Funny story, I had absolutely no idea the Vikings were playing today. Watched Newcastle United play a friendly at 6:30am. Watched the world cup 3rd place game. Sitting in my chair my phone said kickoff time. I thought the damn thing was tomorrow.

Well, apparently that was the biggest comeback in the 102 year history of the NFL. LOL, I'll take it. Paper Tigers win the division. And they do seem papery I will agree.

I don't think their defense is good enough for a playoff run. But in an individual game, their skill players on offense give them a chance.

The Vikings hired him at the start of the season for Christ sake.

Fun facts from the newly anointed Packerrats Packer historian - me:

In week 17 of the 2003 season, Nathan Poole caught a walk-off TD from Josh McCown to annihilate the Queens’ ticket to the Dance, crowning the Sherman-led Packers as King of the North along the way.

On Wildcard weekend, Matt Hasselback said “we want the ball and we’re gonna score” at the OT coin flip. Sherman acquisition, Al Harris, picked off Hasselback and took it to the house.

The next week, the Balding Eagles converted 4th and 26 via fuck ups from KGB (missed sack) and future Queens great Darren Sharper (poor techinque in coverage). Prior to 4th and 26, Sherman chickened out and refused to go for it on 4th and 1 to ice, ice, baby the game with a hot Ahman Green - proving that he was a better GM than Coach along the way.

Sherman made future Queens DC, Ed Donatell, the scrap goat of that infamous 4th and 26 game.

Agree with this. Jefferson is so good, and Hockenson has been a really good addition to the team. Cook and Theilen aren't the players they used to be but they are still good. That QB though -- you never know what you'll get with him. And that defense -- they are vulnerable, and Donatell (with Pettine as a consultant) was a weird pick for DC. Felt like a safe/retread hire that wouldn't pan out, plus that side of the ball has age, and their secondary is not fast. (E.Kendricks, H.Smith, Z.Smith, P.Peterson, J.Hicks are all 30 or older)

I think they are the best executing team in the NFCN and worthy of a playoff spot. Who they play in the playoffs will matter a LOT. I don't think they can beat PHI or SF, and they got smoked by DAL. They'd be an interesting matchup vs. SEA or even TB. The NYG are so beat up they are in danger. MIN barely beat WAS but I'd take MIN in a rematch there.

Sure. They'll be 1.5 games out of last playoff spot after tonight's Giants/Commandos game. Packers might be in unusual position of playing spoiler last week when they play Lions.

Depends on whether you're thinking about playoffs or higher draft pick.

Fourth tiebreaker after head to head and conference record and common opponents is strength of victory, right? If so, does anybody know how that is calculated? Because if the Lions win the next two and the Packers win out, We and They will be tied on the first three.

Strength of victory is the combined win/loss record of the teams a team has beaten. Right now, the Lions have the edge. However, the Packers still have games with the Dolphins and Vikings, and the Vikings play the Bears, so that could change. It's almost impossible to calculate all the possibilities.

Dark horse? They are the FAVORITE at this point to grab the last spot. The Commanders and Seahawks are trending the wrong way and have tough schedules left to play. The Packers still have a chance to sneak in, but they have to win the rest of their games and get some help. The Lions are playing solid football right now, and likely will soon control their own destiny to the last wild card spot.

The Lions are hot and have an easy remaining schedule. The Giants play Dallas who will have nothing to play for in week 18.

We still have a chance tho. Watson and Doubs will be nice to have together.

If we don’t make the playoffs, I hope for losses tho. A premium player at a premium position would be nice in the draft. Left tackle comes to mind.

Good to read how it is. I had been thinking it was something about points scored or margin in victories, in which case, we'd be screwed.

Yeah it's complicated, but doable. If my calculations are correct, the Lions defeated opponents are 33-37-2, while the Packers defeated opponents are 35-35 right now. That is figuring that the Bears and Vikings cancel out, because for it to end in a tie, our and the Lions records will be the same against both. It doesn't figure in what those defeated teams do in the last three weeks.
