did carolina really trade up for another smaller alabama QB?

you think tua breaks easy, he's built like a tank compared to young

he might have all the tools, but he's like 180 pounds in real life he's gonna get broke at some point

Attending the NFL draft in person looks tedious and uncomfortable. Standing in an open field for hours waiting for a 2 minute announcement every few minutes at the podium.

RashanGary

Damn, a 5’10” 205 lb QB drafted first overall. That’s crazy. But he’s talented. If he was 6’2” 220, he’d be a Joe Burrow level prospect. But the size is a concern.

they said he sat in his room eating fast food and didn't work out at all in order to get up to that weight (not joking). thats why he didn't work out at the combine, and didn't weigh in at his pro day

his playing weight is way below 204

Don't know about the player (Paris Johnson, OT), but gotta be pretty happy with the events around him if you're a Cardinals fan. Smacks of the deal we pulled with the Saints a few years ago where we ended up with Jaire, although ours was more of a masterstroke because we did it in the teens not in the top-5 region, and of course we got a hell of a player, though the Saints did get a good one, too.

Packers are allergic to taking a WR in round 1. But I can't fault this pick. They better go WR and TE in round 2.

The Milwaukee Bucks and Packers defense are similar.

The Bucks coach is so incredibly deficient you have to stack an overwhelming amount of talent and get some luck to win it all

The Packers DC is such absolute garbage we have to draft players on the Defensive side of the ball year after year after year after year.

He looks alright, although I don't think he ever started.

I LOVE THE STEELERS GRABBING THE OT ahead of the Jets and Karen the ShitBag.

reading a bit on him, he kinda reminds me about what i read about gary during that draft

Gary 1/2” shorter and 5 lbs heavier. So Gary slightly more stout
Gary slightly longer arms but both have long arms
Same 40 time
Van Ness better agility numbers
Gary better jumps and bench

In some ways he’s a better athlete than Gary and others not quite there. They’re about equal overall, with slightly different strengths as athletes. But definitely a high upside, elite athlete here.

I’m fine with the pick, but I would have preferred to trade back.

I think they were trying to. They didn't turn the pick in until there were about three minutes left on the clock. My guess is they were taking calls and working the phones but they couldn't get something that seemed worthwhile. Maybe enough teams had moved up that there wasn't much action, or maybe what the Steelers - was it the Steelers? - were offering was not worth it. Or maybe they really did love Van Ness. But it sure took a long time to get that pick in, so I'm guessing they were willing to trade back.

As for the implied racism, have any of the talking heads made any comparisons to . . . wait for it . . . Clay Matthews?

Glad Rashan is comparing the guy to Preston Smith. He's a good player. I like Smith.

I read some negative stuff about Flowers - that he didn't really live up to the hype. Just what I read, so as a fan, I'm glad they didn't take him. Also don't love that Tennessee kid, Hyatt, I think his name is, that everyone's floating for day two.

HarveyWallbangers
04-28-2023, 02:25 PM
I’m not sure what reports you may have read, but Flowers is a solid dude who cares about football. His downside is small hands and small catch radius.

HarveyWallbangers
04-28-2023, 02:27 PM
I don’t want Hyatt. He’s nowhere near as good as Watson was last year. Much smaller, even slower, gives you little RAC. A Will Fuller like, one trick pony.

run pMc
04-28-2023, 03:23 PM
Agree with Harv on ZayF, he's a good kid from what I've heard. Had to "bulk up" to 180 for the combine. He's 5'9" and when you're that size with 6' corners covering you, your QB is going to have a very tight window. Also, being that small means you're less likely to last 8-10 seasons.

As for Hyatt, the Will Fuller comp isn't far off. GB supposedly likes him, and at 6' with long arms he's a little wiry, but again he's 175-180. If you have him out there he's not going to block, but if you run him and Watson on 9 routes with Doubs and a good TE in there as well you could stress a defense. They have Bo Melton, Hyatt's like a better version of him.
I'd just press and mug the hell out of him until he proves he can beat it. I think he's very explosive but IDK about his agility.
