Kyren is the real deal, but the rams overall are a mess. They sold the future and the future has arrived. Then add in the injuries to the WRs and we need to beat this team.

It's a bit too early to say "must win," but it's at least a game they really ought to win. Love ought to be better this week, and Half-Assley needs to really show up and have this defense playing ferocious defense.

Not going to say anything about the (lack of) kicking game....

I think it's pretty close to a must win. They need to start winning some conference games. They're 0-2 in the conference. Whether they're in the playoffs at the end of the year, or what their seed is, might depend on conference record.

CBS Late - Most of the country will get Packers at Rams. Jim Nantz and Tony Romo with the call. Northwest, including Alaska, will get NY Giants at Seattle. Andrew Catalon, Tiki Barber and Jason McCourty with the call.

Also its a team that a playoff team beats. If you lose to them you aren't as good as we hoped. Now, young teams are up and down, so we could peak late again, but being 0-3 in conference is a deep hole.

Defensively they are... ok. Offensively they have Stafford, Kyren, and a who dat's list of receivers with Kupp and Nacua out. Oh, their OL is banged up too. After not getting to the QB last week, you would think GB's DL will be smelling blood in the water.
Stafford can be brilliant or boneheaded. I could see McKinney getting a 5th pick.

GB doesn't play great on the West Coast but this really is a game they should win. Rams are outgunned because of injuries and personnel choices. Jordan Love should have shaken off a lot of rust after throwing 50+ times last week.
I think on paper Green Bay is the better team and the expectation is they play like it. Hopefully that happens.

If the Packers establish the run like they should, I see no reason for them to lose this game. The DL is due to bounce back after a horrible performance against MIN.

Might be a team related problem.

https://www.si.com/nfl/sources-packers-romeo-doubs-skipped-practices-over-frustration-with-role

Green Bay Packers receiver Romeo Doubs skipped practice on Thursday and wasn’t present on Friday because he is upset with his opportunities in the passing game, sources told Packers On SI.

After Thursday’s pre-practice warmup inside the Don Hutson Center, LaFleur gathered the team before heading outside for practice. He spoke for perhaps a minute, mostly out of the range of reporters’ ears. One word was easily audible, though, as he implored his team to have a good practice and not let … something become a “distraction.”

Not saying this is true, but if it is.

Doubs is an idiot. He still has 1 more year on his rookie contract. He has no leverage and no team will want to deal with someone who has this big of an attitude problem without having put up #1 WR numbers.

He ain’t no Diggs or Owens or Lamb.

The potential for upset is way higher than the gain of bringing him in.

MLF hinted that Doubs may not have run his route exactly right on that play, resulting in Musgrave being directly in line with Doubs. That may be part of what's going on here.

Whatever it is - whatever - the idea that team officials actually went to his residence when he did not show up for practice and found him at his home (that's what I've read happened, anyway) is quite disturbing.

I am shocked by all this. I thought Doubs was the quiet, smart one who knew that he was Love's go-to guy in key situations, and that he was getting as much play as anyone, and that the number of targets shifts from guy to guy to guy in this offense.

Suddenly we find he's not showing up to practice and is at home sulking? Again, that's a media report, and I'm pretty sure that's not the whole story, by any stretch. Did he let MLF know he was unhappy beforehand? We don't know. Did he really, really just not show up for practice? We don't know.

But the whole thing is still disturbing. Not what this team needs as it tries to correct course from last week. Not the vibe of a Super Bowl-bound team by any stretch.

But it's

This article from last January might shed some light on Doubs. Different guy. I can see where the Packers would have had no idea Doubs was unhappy with his role until he didn't show up. https://www.golongtd.com/p/the-real-romeo-part-i-youve-got-to

Again, we get dribs and drabs and it's easy to draw conclusions but we have incomplete data.

It'll unfold slowly and we'll never see the all of it, but of course we hope they can all kumbaya and make it work. Get back to the focus of just playing as best you can every single time you're out there.

That was a good read, Joe.

He's almost done with his rookie contract and setup for a monster payday. This decision has probably cost him millions of dollars on that future contract because it'll drive down his value.

I think they need to try to work things out before deciding to trade him. They had issues with Jaire last year and have been able to work them out. Not sure how much you would get in a trade for a guy who just decided not to show up to practice without any notification.

Doubs is the one that needs to work some things out. He’s jeopardizing his NFL career, and for what? He’s not a #1 receiver and never will be. Shut your mouth, do the work, and walk away with $20M in the bank someday for playing A GAME.

Doubs suspended 1 game for conduct detrimental to the team.

In a statement, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said “(Doubs’) decisions and actions during the week negatively impacted the team and required us to take this action. While we are certainly disappointed, we are confident that we will be able to move forward in a positive manner.”

Joemailman
10-05-2024, 03:16 PM
The Green Bay Packers have placed WR Romeo Doubs (DOBBS) on the reserve/suspended list for one game for conduct detrimental to the team, signed CB Robert Rochell (roh-SHELL) from the practice squad to the active roster and elevated FB Andrew Beck from the practice squad to the active roster for gameday. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Saturday.

"Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to suspend Romeo for this week's game," said Gutekunst. "His decisions and actions during the week negatively impacted the team and required us to take this action. While we are certainly disappointed, we are confident that we will be able to move forward in a positive manner. Romeo is a valuable member of our team and we look forward to welcoming him back next week."

Rochell has been on the Packers' practice squad this entire season and has appeared in two games as a gameday elevation. Overall, he has played in 39 regular-season games with five starts for the Los Angeles Rams (2021-22) and Green Bay Packers (2023-24).

DL Jonathan Ford (calf), who is designated for return from injured reserve and currently within a 21-day practice window, will not travel and will not play this week.

Fritz
10-05-2024, 05:47 PM
Nah. All he has to do is get a visit from MLF and Love, where they give him a little handy and tell him how important he is to the team. Then he apologizes and pretends it’s a misunderstanding. Then next week Doubs mysteriously gets lots and lots of targets while MLF claims with a straight face that it just so happened to work that way.

Then Doubs’s baby mama goes down on him and swallows the babies, and all is well in Packerland.

god damn doubs

i told you he was furious during the game when musgrave fucked up and tipped the ball that should have been a doubs TD

when they showed him on the sideline blowing up, his helmet was nowhere to be found, he spiked that shit or tossed it

i can see his frustration, he is our #1 or #1b with reed. we should be feeding him the ball, not guys that are dropping and fumbling balls all over the place. and its not like other guys are just playing better and taking the ball out of his hands, other then reed, the other guys helped us lose the last game

and he is playing for a big contract. if we aren't feeding him the ball when he clearly has the talent to change games, i would be pissed too

but abandoning the team isn't the way to do it

Good post, Red. On the one hand, it’s got to be hard watching Wicks drop more balls than Holly Halston and still get the ball fed to him. On the other hand, he’s not handling it well, like Holly Halston would.

So if Doubs was mad that he wasn't being targeted enough, how's he going to feel today when he gets ZERO balls thrown to him?

And will the Doubs Drama take attention away from the fact the Packers' play last week was plain ugly, and that they often have a tendency to play ugly games early in the season? Remember Falcons, Raiders, Lions, Broncos, Vikings last year? That shit went on all the way through October.

Maybe it's the cover they need to sneak out of LA with a dirty, ugly win.
