View Full Version : I finally watched the Viking game, two weeks after the fact....

Long after everyone did their complaining, and with the subsequent boost from a victory last week, I finally sat down and watched the Viking game. Knowing the result and armed with a list of things to look at and think about from the comments (rants?) from others, it was a calm, even enjoyable, relaxed viewing. Some of the things that hit me:

1. My overall impression was that the Vikings didn't "win" the game, the Packers "lost" the game. Most of the turning points in the game, and there were several, seemed to be more Packer screw-ups than good plays by the Vikings. To their credit, the Vikings took advantage of the first half opportunities gifted to them, a positive for them going forward.

2. In spite of the repeated screw-ups, the Packers had multiple opportunities to pull out a win at the end, but gave those away, too.

3. Even just playing "OK" the Packers could have won, maybe even comfortably. They easily left 20 points on the field.

4. I thought the defense played quite well in the second half. They gave opportunities to the offense, which did not take advantage of enough of them.

5. The offense was way out of sync. Love is not in rhythm with the game flow, but I expect he will get there.

6. I saw nothing that makes me worried for the season, just that the Packers need to get out of their own way.

7. Wicks needs to pick it up significantly. He let one, probably two TDs get away.

Now, on to watching last week's game!!
