So since the bookies give a home team three points automatically, does that mean the Packers are actually a half-point underdog?

It means they really think Packers are 5.5 points better but they know Nards will miss a FG.

Packers kicking situation now a day by day thing according to MLF.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur would only say Monday that Hale could “potentially” be ready to kick if they want to give him a chance this week. It likely would be dependent on how Hale, a late addition to the roster in training camp, has kicked in practice. Asked if he’s considering a change at kicker, LaFleur said, “I wouldn’t say that right now, no.”

Where is the breaking point?

“We’ll see, again, we’ll take it day by day,” LaFleur said.

I wonder how good Hale is and can be. Is it adjusting to the speed of the game and the rushers? Is it kicking a weird-shaped football? How strong is his leg? How accurate? Is he getting better?

IF Turd Narveson is the kicker this week, zI predict he’ll lose his job if he doesn’t make every single kick.

Hale is from Australia, but he kicked for several years for Oklahoma St.

As a sixth-year senior in 2023, Hale went 36-of-38 on extra point attempts and 27-of-34 on field goal attempts, scoring a career-high 117 points on the season. The Pokes' star specialist also went 3-for-4 from beyond 50 yards during his final year in Stillwater.

The New South Wales, Australia, product received an 86.3 field goal kicking grade from Pro Football Focus last year. Hale earned Second Team All-Big 12 honors and was a Lou Groza Award semifinalist for his efforts in 2023.

This is going to be a good game, if you like tight ones. I'm thinking this is the game where a last-minute field goal is necessary.

Turd Narveson, your future hangs in the balance here, bud. Do you want to be known as "Turd" or "Nards"? It's up to you now.

It's all just one name now. A mononym if you will, like Madonna or perhaps Prince but without the stardom.

Nervous + Narveson = "Nervouson"

One thing Nervouson has on Carlson is he's made all his XP. (That is not meant to be a jinx!) I don't think Carlson (or Joseph) would be faring any better. It's crazy to think they haven't solved their kicker problem yet.

At least he made the FG after his miss. He's got to be automatic from 45 in at a minimum.

Hale is a break glass in case of emergency type of thing I think. They've kept K's on the PS before (JJ Molson, Ramiz Ahmed, etc.).

Packers had K Brandon McManus in for a workout.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported on Tuesday that the Green Bay Packers, who have struggled at the kicking position for several years now, brought in kicker Brandon McManus for a workout. McManus signed a one-year, $3.6 million contract with the Washington Commanders in March but was released by the team in June when he was sued over sexual assault allegations by flight attendants for an incident that was alleged to have occurred when he was a Jacksonville Jaguar in 2023.

The lawsuit was dismissed in September, as Judge Michael S. Sharrit claimed that the women, who wanted to use anonymity in the case, did not meet the state’s “exceptional case” standard. According to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco, the women were given a 10-day window to amend the lawsuit to identify their names, rather than remain anonymous, which lawyer Tony Buzbee claimed they would do. Three days later, that amendment was filed.

The NFL reportedly interviewed 30 people in their investigation of the allegations and two weeks ago decided there was not sufficient evidence to discipline the kicker. Buzbee claims that the league never talked to either of the women who are suing McManus. At the time, neither McManus nor his attorney, Brett Gallaway, released a statement.

The lawsuit alleges that McManus was inebriated on a team flight from London back to Jacksonville when he “grinded” up against the two alleged victims and attempted to kiss one of them. The Jaguars, who McManus was a member of at the time of the alleged incident, also didn’t make a statement when the league ruled they would not be disciplining McManus.

McManus has kicked 161 games in the NFL, mostly with the Denver Broncos, where he spent the 2014-2022 seasons. He’s made 253 of 311 (81 percent) career field goals. The Packers’ current kicker, Brayden Narveson, has hit 12 of 17 (71 percent) field goals as a rookie this season.

Good news: McManus is more accurate than Nervouson from 40-49 range.
Bad news: he's being sued for being a creepy guy.

The market for a competent FG kicker must be bad when you can't find someone who isn't an alleged sexual predator.

I think 86% for his career at distances of 40-49 yards is fine. But if you look more closely at the breakdown, over his last 6 seasons he is 54/58 (93.1%) at that distance. He was less consistent early in his career.

It's a rare event when the other team is worse off injury-wise than the Pack. Hope they take advantage instead of making the backup guys look like All Pros.

The guys who write for ACME are advocating for the Packers to run, run, run til their Daddy takes the T-Bird away, saying the injuries to the Texans' like and linebacking corps make them vulnerable. However, those writers also seemed to get a boner when the Packers rushed the hell out of the ball when Willis was the QB, so maybe that's just their thing.
