What were the 3rd down conversion numbers by the Bears in the second half? They only punted once and it felt like the Pack had them in 3rd down situations damn often

Packers played like all they had to do was show up to win. We got lucky on a FG block to win the game.
I know there aren’t players out there but Quay played like absolute dog shit. The DL didn’t do much of anything until the last drive with 2 sacks.
We are going to have to invest heavily on the D side of the ball again in the draft.

Third game in a row I have to scoot to the local Urgent Care for a quick defib.
This is not sustainable!!

Today was a little more like Rent to Own, but the title deed remains in the pocket of the Packers.

The offense never found their rhythm.
The defense played soft.
The coaches didn’t make adjustments.
A win is a win.

You can in the NFL as long as you don’t run him over and let him get his head up. It looks like he shoots the gap.

Live I thought he was up in the air a looong time. I saw someone say he had a hand on a Bears back, I wouldn’t be surprised.

I think as long as you don’t leverage yourself off of someone else’s back you are fine.
We are finally seeing players jump over the line on FG attempts again.
i cracked a smile at the end, because, fuck the bears
but we had no business winning that game, ad i didn't see much to feel good about
i'm no longed convinced Love is the answer. watson bailed him out on the 2 long passes by making 2 great catches. the second one should have been a TD is love throws the ball better and hits watson in some kind of stride, instead of making him lay out when he's wide open
our d got picked apart pretty well today, that wasn't impressive
GET RID OF ALEXANDER!!!

At least one of the kool aid gang is catching on. A little late, but progress is progress. This team is winning in spite of its frumpy haired QB, and that much was demonstrated by the success a guy with like 2 weeks experience demonstrated earlier. Love is a lazy entitled twat that throws INTs every fucking time he needs to make a play. And then sometimes when he don’t.
lol. Get rid of Alexander. That is some boss bitch projection. Skibbity as the kids say.

Many of us admitted Love might not be the answer, but we all were positive that Clifford was a never will be....except one guy.
And I agree on Alexander. Should have traded him when he still had value.

These were interesting:
- First time in 85 years the Packers blocked a field goal to win a game.
- Josh Jacobs Jingleheimer Schmidt is the 1st running back since Ahman Green to reach 1000 yards rushing in 10 games.

I though Jones did it a couple times...but maybe he never played 10 games in a season.

Jones never really came close 1000 yards in 1st 10 games. He tended to finish strong. About 700 was the best he did.

Jacobs doesn't have 1000 yards rushing yet; he's at 838. He is over 1000 total yards, rushing and receiving.
FWIW - Jones is at 954 total yards this year in 10 games.

Not blaming you at all CapK, but I think your source on this is confused, because:
- as I mentioned above, Jacobs doesn't have 1000 yards rushing yet.
- if the source meant total yards, Jones had 1046 in the first 10 games of 2019; and Lacy had 1184 total yards the first 10 games of 2014.
- Not sure about this at all; but, I have a vague recollection of the Packers winning a game on a blocked kick quite a while ago, (maybe the year Hendricks was in GB?), and I do not remember games from 85 years ago! :)

I'm not worried about Love,....yet.
Love is a better QB now than Favre was in his second season as a starter, when there was considerable consideration for benching him in favor of Brunell.
Yes, GB should have dumped Alexander a couple years ago, not because of ability, attitude, personality or anything like that. In pro sports you have to deal with a lot more baggage than Alexander brings. They should have dumped him because he is too frail for the NFL. He is a small, thin athlete who early in his career played quite physical in run support especially; and I respected him for that. But, it is hard to build a defense with a #1 CB who is in and out of the lineup constantly. He has started only 34 games the last 4 seasons, and he has left a number of those due to injury. He is nothing more than a half-time player. Too bad, he is only 27 and should have a lot of years left, but I doubt that he does.

CBs get hurt. Alexander's been fighting injuries since Year 2, it's not going to get any better. They will draft a CB before R4. I think they'll go heavier on defense... pass rush is an issue, although this game you couldn't really get to Caleb because they were playing a lot of short game stuff - he was getting the ball out really fast. I don't think Hafley called a bad game, I think Nixon as your CB1 is not great.
The one scramble up the middle in the 1H by Caleb on the Quay blitz - I think that's more on Wyatt being out of his gap (and running into Cox Jr.) than on Quay (and Cooper) vacating the area. Quay didn't have a great game, but some of the plays that look like they were his fault weren't. He's more athlete than football player and would probably get less heat if he was a late Day2 early Day 3 pick.
There just weren't a lot of possessions in this game - both teams took the air out of the ball and went on long drives. GB had 6 drives (7 if you count the kneeldown) for the entire game. That's not a lot of scoring chances.
The Love interception was IMO the right read, but a terrible throw. Some said his footwork was off, but IDK. I'll have to rewatch it more closely. Either way that was a killer. After that MLF went point-chasing a little bit - the TO on downs was also costly. Can't have that many trips inside the RZ and not get points. Even if both failed trips ended in FGs instead they win this game without needing FG block drama.
Bisaccia earned his pay this week with the scouting on the Bears kick blocking... apparently he noticed the blocking was weak along the G (along with Santos hitting kicks low) and they were able to exploit that.
Fortunately Eberflus decided to just run the ball with 35 seconds and not try to push closer for a FG (which would have been harder to block).
GB was the better team on paper, the Bears played like the better team though.
Packers just 'bearly' escaped with a win. Can't play like that again; I feel like they've used up their nine lives.

3 areas where the Packers had been struggling were better yesterday: penalties (3), Love decision-making and dropped passes (1). The main negative from this game was the defense being unable to get off the field on 3rd and 4th down.

Hey, I'm human and I make mistakes. The word rushing was an error apparently.
I'm not sure if there's a statistical difference in yards "from scrimmage" versus "total yards". But either way, it's a nice indicator of production.

Regarding the first win by a blocked field goal in 85 years, this was reported on packers.com (https://www.packers.com/news/key-to-the-game-karl-brooks-block-was-preparation-personified-2024)
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it was the second time the Packers blocked a field goal on the final play of a game. The other was nearly 85 years ago during a 7-6 win over the Cleveland Rams on Nov. 26, 1939.

Green Bay has blocked six field goals since Rich Bisaccia was hired as special teams coordinator in 2022, second only to Pittsburgh's 10 over that stretch.
According to Elias Sports Bureau, Sunday was the first time since the 1970 merger that the Packers blocked a field goal with under a minute remaining in the fourth quarter or later.

That seems crazy. I sure don’t remember that many blocked FG in the last 20 years let alone the last 3.

Didn't Yosh Nijman have two last year, relatively close together; then question the press about what the Packer record was for blocks in a season?

Packers blocked field goal was legal.
After the Packers beat the Bears by blocking a field goal on the last play of the game, Bears coach Matt Eberflus claimed the Packers should have been flagged because “they were obviously on our long snapper.”
The NFL disagrees.
The Bears sent the play into the league for an explanation, and the league’s officiating office informed the Bears that the Packers made a clean play, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
NFL rules prohibit lining up directly across from the long snapper, or making contact with him while his head is still down immediately following the snap. Packers defensive lineman T.J. Slaton was lined up legally but did make contact with Bears long snapper Scott Daly on the blocked field goal. But the league ruled that the Slaton’s contact was legal. Contact can be made with long snappers as long as it’s not when the long snapper’s head is down immediately following the snap.
If the officials had ruled that Slaton had illegally contacted Daly while his head was still down, it would have been a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty and the Bears would have had another chance to make the field goal. But the officials didn’t throw the flag and the Packers won. And the league office says that was the correct call.

I saw a blurb on Monday from one of the retired NFL officials explaining why no penalty should have been called on the blocked field goal, even though there was some contact with the long snapper:
- He said the snapper appears to hold a pose with his head down.
- At the same time, the guard moves out slightly, then back toward the long snapper, attempting to pinch the Packer against the snapper, in essence creating the "look" of a penalty.
- The Packers lined up well outside the snapper and did not move at or initiate contact with the snapper.
- Any contact made was to the side of the long snapper, not to his head or neck area.
- The officials do not expect the long snapper to be totally untouched for the entirety of the play.
