Jacobs of course. Man among boys and I look forward to seeing him in the playoffs.
The entire defense - Monster effort and the energy never let up all night.
Pepe LeFleur - Called a clean game and never let up. Hope he keeps this focus for another 2 months.

The D energy seemed relentless all game long. I was really impressed. They not only seemed to be better players but playing harder, fast, and more engaged.

Jacobs' stiff-arm was 'Man among boys' level shit.

Stud: Jacobs, but not for his on the field performance. Once the game was in hand, he asked the coaches to sit so the other backs could get touches.

Stud(s)
The running back committee.
J. Jacobs 13 rushes for 69 yards and a TD
E. Wilson 11 rushes for 52 yards and a TD
C. Brooks 6 rushes for 23 yards and a TD!
Duds
Wicks. They tried to get him involved with 7 targets, but he only had 3 catches for 13 yards, including a drop with nothing but open field between him and the endzone. He had a TD but even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes. I had high hopes for him, he flashed last season, but now I'm not sure he's even on the team next year unless he breaks out of this his sophomore slump

Where did you hear that? That's pretty cool. I hope him and Love were chillin on the sidelines in a pair of oversized parkas in the 4th quarter.

STUDS: Zayne Anderson & Chris Brooks: Both non drafted players from BYU and each achieved a career first. Anderson with his first INT and Brooks with his first TD

Lighten up on Wicks. I remember a time when people here thought James Jones and Davante Adams were worthless. He's too talented to give up on this early. By the way on the drop that would have been a TD, wasn't that ball tipped by the defense? I just know he was wide open because of an incredible route he ran.

The play that looked like a Wicks drop was tipped. It was catchable, but a difficult play to make.
I'm not going to give up on Wicks, but they need to make choices about which of their young WRs get snaps. He's not making a great case he deserves more snaps.

Just found out it was the Honey Badger that Jacobs rag-dolled. Father Time waits for no man.

Yeah it was tipped. That can happen when a 6-2 QB tries to throw over/past 6-5 linemen, some of whom are trying to block the throw. It still hit Wicks in the hands so he had a chance to catch it (and maybe should have). If that ball isn't tipped and Wicks catches it he's gone for a long TD. I'm not mad about it. Wicks is still getting plenty of snaps because he's blocking guys off the TV screen. His drop rate has improved also, as have his targets. Tonight wasn't his best but I think playing him in as the WR4 is the way for now. I have a feeling the coaches want to keep his confidence from going in the tank, and they're handling it pretty well. They are absolutely going to need him in the playoffs.
I didn't think Jordan Love had a bad game, the stats were a bit misleading. He actually checked down more this game than I expected, but it still resulted in long, successful drives. The 96 yarder was an absolute killer. At that point I knew NO was in deep trouble - a drive like that will rip out a team's heart, especially when injuries have reduced them to a JV squad with little to play for.
I was surprised at the NO OL - GB got after them. Rattler didn't have a lot of time to throw (go back and watch how much time Love has in the pocket and compare) and I thought Gary absolutely put Trevor Penning on skates and into Rattler's lap a few times.
Evan Williams won't be back until the playoffs, I suspect the same for Bullard. Last year the idea of Zayne Anderson playing snaps - even in garbage time - was unsettling if not scary to me. This year he's been ok, which tells me that Jeff Hafley and Co. can coach. They even played Oladipo and a guy named Omar Brown at safety, and they looked ok. Also, NO is a shell of itself, but pitching a shutout without Jaire, Evan Williams or Quay is a pretty good achievement.
Josh Jacobs is a tonesetter and a beast. That stiffarm on Honey Badger got a loud cheer from me. Glad they could put him on ice early, they are going to need him. Love how physical he plays. He might not spring a 60 yarder like Aaron Jones, but he'll wear you down with 7, 8, & 12 yard runs.
Looked to me like Watson got kicked in the knee, he shoulda just done the ice/heat/rest thing. Either way, I think the offseason work has helped him be mostly healthy this year and he's had an impact on the offense.
