#Packers coach Matt LaFleur said they got good news on WR Christian Watson: "Just a bruise," he said. Didn't rule him out this week but said there is progress that has to be made.

Pretty much what I thought/hoped for when I saw the play. Hurts like shit, but not any long-term concern. Hopefully he will be ready for Sunday. Winning at MN would be a boost going into the playoffs.

I didn't know where to put this, and I'm not sure it's worth its own thread, but how about the job the Packer safeties have done this year versus last year? McKinney has been worth every penny of that contract (so far) and then some - solid, solid, solid. Just a guy who knows how to play the position. And Williams has been a revelation, though his being injured the last few weeks has been a bummer. I'm not sure that Bullard has been all that, but I don't really know, and even Zayne Anderson seemed to play a good game against NO.

I am NOT missing Darnell Savage, Jonathon Owens et al from last year.

And on the other side of the ball, I was one of those people bemoaning the loss of Aaron Jones. He was a fun, fun player to watch, very skilled, great guy. But with Josh Jacobs it seems less likely the offense will stall out because Jacobs can get you that tough three yards. He keeps the chains moving - and then some.

In the safety position, the Packers are far better than they were last year. In the running back position, from the standpoint of the overall offense, they might be better this year, too. Brooks can block and runs with some oomph, and Wilson isn't too shabby himself as a runner.

Jaire unlikely to play again.
It’s too bad injuries have affected his career.
These are his last days before he takes a seat on the Bakhtiari express.

I'm fine resting Alexander for the PO's.

Just sayin'.

I’m hoping you’re right. That Alexander comes out fresh and is a real difference maker in the playoffs.
Regardless, he has now missed 31 of 66 games and it is time to move on.

Been saying that for awhile. The fact we didn’t address this strongly thru fa/draft is perplexing.

Well, they did have to remake the safeties' room and the linebackers' room this past offseason. Plus the running backs. I'm thinking corner will be up for that next draft.

I think Gute probably put too much faith in Jaire being healthy and Stokes returning to his rookie form. They had been impressed with Valentine and had Nixon coming back. I think they felt pretty good about the cornerback position.

Remember all the quotes from team officials about how fast and how good Stokes was looking in the offseason? The usual stuff, I suppose, but even so, it was all convincing. Then he started playing like a wet fart, and has been ever since.

And Alexander - you'd think they'd have guessed he was only going to get hurt more or again. Yet, as I posted, you can't remake every position group at once.

I anticipate Alexander and Stokes both gone next year, and the Packers drafting two or three corners - outside variety.

Starting with the 49ers game, Stokes has been decent after being terrible 1st half of the season. Not sure if he's gotten better, or if the coaching staff has done a better job of matching him up against certain receivers he can handle. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Packers sign him as a FA to a modest 1-2 year contract in 2025.

Christian Watson was in cleats but did not go through stretch with the rest of the team. Looks like he’s still in the rehab group.

Other DNPs: Quay Walker, Jaire Alexander, Evan Williams, Andre Dillard.

Javon Bullard practicing for the second straight day.

I still think we’re a better defense when quay is out. They need to change his position or something g

If Bullard is a go, are they better off having him start at safety and playing Nixon inside with Stokes and Valentine on the corner, or having Zayne Anderson at safety, Bullard in the nickel, and Valentine/Stokes at one corner with Nixon on the other outside corner?

This game should be a good predictor of where we will stand in the playoffs.
Lose, and it doesn’t mean you can’t make some noise in the playoffs, but going 0-5 against the top NFC playoff teams doesn’t bode well for the future.
Winning this game not only solidifies our playoff positioning but keeps our momentum going.

The #Packers have elevated S Omar Brown from the practice squad to the active roster for the second straight week. Could be a sign S Javon Bullard (ankle)isn’t playing.

I too am skeptical about Bullard playing. He's a rookie, has missed the last 2 games, and was limited in practice.

Guess this means my theoretical Javon Bullard question remains theoretical.
