Personally I'm excited to see what Lafluer can do with this hybrid player.
6'4" 221 lbs extension of the run game. Had a 90% catch rate past 10 yards (caught 9 out of 10) but is clearly the short range target. Looking forward to seeing him block for other receivers as well.

This means I will likely have much too high expectations coming out of training camp for him and then think he is a bum by the third game

This pick puts golden a z. And savion has massive size and was to 20th percentile in the 1st 10 yards at reciever. So huge powerful and quick burst.

Still, Savion over some other WRs is a surprise, but I agree he's super athletic. i don't know if taking a great athlete/dumb footballer in R3 is good process. R5 I could see, but I think R3 is usually when they make a drunk pick (Kraft and Rhyan being exceptions).

He'll take Kraft's spot at tush push. lol. I'm liking this pick actually. He's got a real floor in this offense: much more durable than Watson or Reed. But the third round is a swing for the fences. I'm ok with it just because Kraft is our only YAC/mauler in the receiving corp.

He's also a country boy (and team captain): I'm not gonna bet against his success.

If he compares to Cordarrelle Patterson, that's a major plus in my book. Let him return kicks. He should be good for a lot of things in LaFleur's gadgety offense.

This says IMO that the team leadership doesn't consider the D needs as high a priority as a lot of fans do.

I'm talking myself into this pick, or trying to. There is definitely a role he can play, and if LaFluer really is an offensive genius or creative playcaller, he can cook some fun things up for him.

Agree that he likely takes Kraft's spot in tush push type scenarios, and that he gives them some YAC ability. The size and athletic traits are very very high, but he needs a LOT of coaching. I wouldn't bet against him. From what I can tell, when TCU needed a clutch play he was often the guy they looked to.

There are a lot of things he can and can't do, and if MLF gives him chances to succeed by doing what he can this could be a very fun pick.

For a team featuring so many receivers who drop the ball a lot, this guy sounds like he’ll fit right in.

I wouldn't over think this. It reminds me of the Dillon/Deguara picks. Both were MLF picks imo: he saw them as Henry/Juszczyk. I thought they were overdrafted while I liked the players. Savion has a LOT more talent and is a closer athletically to a Deebo role than either of those two to their comps. MLF probably had him as a round one prospect; so I'm glad they just paid a three for him. At that spot, I like him.

Also TCU had him do everything. He was their goto when they needed a play. He did whatever they asked. Imo they didn't develop him and the Packers think they can. If GB can teach him some basic WR skills, LaFleur can do some magic with him. ABOVEALL, I like him taking sweep snaps from Watson and Reed who can't take the hits. Savion has the strength and will to take them and dish them out. He's a baller. Risky? yes. At the same time, it's a better pick than a lotta of their threes over the years.

I was intrigued with his intangibles and his height/weight and RAS. I don't like the fact he is an inexperience route runner, and he drops a lot of balls an issue the Packers had in 2025. I would have had some questions if he was the first receivers the Packers had taken in this draft. He was drafted right around where he should have been, late 3rd round early 4th round was where I had targeted him, so that wasn't an issue. If the Packers can work with him on the route running and nuances of the route tree in the NFL and he can focus and work on catching the football I think the sky is the limit for him.

You can make some really specular catches in traffic and contested catches, so it's not a coordination thing, I think it's more a focus thing.

I seen some high opinions and clips of his route running, I think it's more about route adjustments and nuances when it comes to choice routes that are so prevalent in the NFL.

GB has a history of taking guys with meh hands and getting them to improve. It can be done with lots of practice with the Juggs machine. Given his success rate in contested catches and with having some highlight reel catches as well I suspect it's a focus or lazy technique issue he can clean up.

Williams was mocked as a late R3 early R4, so I wouldn't call him a reach from that standpoint. I just didn't agree with him being mocked that high lol.

He's not a deep threat but he does give them a creative piece. His YAC stats are a little meh, but he has the traits. As a checkdown/bubble screen/sweep guy he'll be fine, and probably an upgrade over Reed in that regard. Has the size to block and to withstand hits. Seems like a hard worker, good character guy.
Personally I would have leaned toward Royals or Ayomanor, but he's fine. Comparing him to Deebo is a stretch. I'm sure they will have some plays for him, and that alone makes him a better pick than Jace Sternberger.
