Guys, our Guard jumped, so it would have been a false start, if not the personal foul. the play never happened. Defensive penalties can stop the play...offsides can stop the play if the defensive player makes contact, it's the same type of idea, it's like an offsides call. there is nothing to debate here, that was the right call.

I've heard of that penalty, it's normally called offsides though, or defensive false start, forcing the offensive player to jump...NFL has made it a Personal Foul this year.

Fosco33

Also recall the 1-1:30 that we let run off the clock for some unknown reason.

It's M3's fault we were ever in that position to have a fluke call/series. Hell, we could have scored a TD the way we were driving down the field.

This team is poorly coached - talented, unmotivated, under utilized, inexperienced, unlucky.

I rewatched the TiVO. They did comment on it. And it's still the biggest joke I've seen in the NFL in awhile. Replay doesn't work and these refs need a handholder besides the Quality Control guy.

Basically, 'unlike in Madden 07 - the defense can't shift to fool the offense".

It was probably thought to be a false start (whistle blow - which can now be reviewed and ignored I believe). Then the penalty changed it.

The personal foul was after the kick. If it was holding or something, I'd understand. But you let the clock run to 0:00 but the play either did or didn't exist.

And before that they reviewed an unreviewable call.

Get your pitchforks and follow me.

That is the way the NFL does it these days. They are so overly concerned with giving the ball away to the other team that they often screw themselves in the process.

that was shocking to me too. it was actually at 1:37 after the sack of harrington, and instead of calling timeout gb let it run down to 1:03 before MIAMI called a timeout to stop play. the fg took 5 seconds, so gb would have got the ball back with 1:32 left instead of 1:03 - an extra 30 seconds to work with, albeit with one less timeout.

nice clock management.

In a game in Miami...and with Rayner's leg strength...55 yards is certainly within his range.

Just because we typically play in weather that makes 40 yarders impossible doesn't mean a 55 yarder here is something that we wouldn't be fine with accepting.

If M3 would've been told after the Miami FG that he could successfully get the chance at a 55 yarder with 4 seconds left...I think he would've gladly have taken it and not tried for more.

I don't wanna jinx anything, but a play like that, and the way the team has come out in the 2nd half, can help in "things to come"...confidence and excitement can carry on and on. 1996, we're losing to Seattle, and Doug Evans intercepts the ball to take the lead and evientually win the game, we never lost a game after that....it sometimes is just 1 play that makes things go. NOW...i'm not saying we're heading for greatness, but, it doesn't hurt to get some "mojo" our direction.
