The nice thing there, the blocking was perfect...we got to the LB's without a problem, and all that was left was the safety, and he just our ran him. that's perfect right there.

actually colledge has been the front side double team guy with Wells...GB likes running their zones to the left, and colledge is normally the LG. I still think at some point, Colledge will be our future LT, and Spitz will be the LG...I like those 2 next to eachother.

He's definitely not "big" enough right now, but he's probably tall enough. I doubt in Sherman's offense he could be big enough, but in this offense, he probably can be.

Great games all around!

Carolina and Cincy - took it to the end. Cincy is up 17-14 and going for the runout.

Lions are only down 7 but the clock is running under 2. Looks like Jets win by 7.

Eagles are up 1 w/ 4 seconds left. TB is coming on for the Game winner! 61 yard attempt - .....
who knows....

Lots of time left in Atlanta.

Chargers came back and tied KC running above 2 min left. Amazing comeback - can't wait to read about it.

one thing Tony moll needs to do, and i've noticed this a lot today...he needs to learn how to counter a DL move....when the guy swam him, he needs to put his hand in the guys arm pit and just shove him to the side...i could go more in depth, but there is no way to explain without showing, so i'll shut up.

ok, is anyone else paying attention to jc pearson's terrible commentary?

dude is whining and second guessing everything green bay does on offense.

after the gutsy pass to francies on 3rd and short pearson called it a stupid idea that happened to go their way? excuse me, but aren't slants a regular staple of the west coast offense?

and on martin's td catch, pearson said it was a questionable gamble when you're in the lead? jeez, martin was wide open, the ball was just underthrown. had favre thrown it further inside martin would have had the easy catch.

pearson is obviously playing up the "favre throws picks" mentality, to the point where he can't see what's on the field with an unbiased eye.

Ahh yes...love the 101 and 405. It sure feels weird going home and driving down the 41.

Biggest freeway, most traffic of anyplace in Los Angeles.[/quote]

2nd busiest interchange in the US. A big hill adds to a short chord in traffic by Beverly Hills/Westwood and then a ton of lanes merge into like 5 then less with construction. It's always a mess - sometimes the 101 into the Valley is enough to make me want to move. They've expanded but the construction caused it's own nightmare for two years.

Funny story, we were coming south on the 405 north of 101 going to Sherman Oak area for lunch when the young Hispanic teens were walking the wrong way on the Northbound lanes. I've never seen a freeway get shut down quicker or so many police groups (7 squads in each) move through the side streets with more ease.

Made me feel safer knowing these guys know their shit.

Poor coaching, Two bad teams.

Don't agree with these. I think we have a bad secondary. That's the only place I notice bad coaching.

I'll clarify. Poor secondary schemes/motivators/decisions. Poor clock management at the end of the first half. Odd calls on 2nd and 1 on consecutive series and a missed 3rd and 1. Allowing Harrington to throw all over the field and give up consecutive 4th downs when the game should've been over long before that. Some of this lies on M3 - poor discipline (penalties - especially ones using the old knoodle).

We're an average/below average team. We could be average with some luck and a better secondary - injuries have hurt this team but we've rebounded to some degree.

We had to win this one.

WR/RB/OL are big question marks. Secondary is a question mark - partly due to scheme/coaching. DL, LB are improving. The OLine is doing 'ok' but goes to max protection too often - then relying on WRs to get open and going short routes. Our running game looks better with one run of 70 by AG - without that it was pretty pathetic.

The key here was turnovers, points off turnover and ability to react to big plays.

We could be good but I'm not confident saying we're a good team - yet.

What I liked about M3 today is that he played for the win offensively. That end around on 4th down was a damn gutsy call, but the play was executed beautifully that they had to have practiced that a lot this week. It worked out beautifully too! Then, he is still chucking the rock up when a field goal will make it tough for the Dolphins to get back in it, but he wants to 100% put them away. I like it!

Sweet man, I look forward to reading it. Offensively the Dolphins are awful, but there defense is pretty damn good. They pretty much held Green to 2 yd/carry before the big run. What I like is that the offense still found a way to shut down Taylor and move the football. 3 of 13 is third down is not good by any means, but they did enough to win. The defense hung in their all day long and fought until the end. This team is MUCH better than the team that lost to the Bears. You can see it in how fast the offense line moves and how the lanes look bigger with each week.

There were 74 seconds wasted by not taking timeouts at the half.

I want M3 to explain it - I've heard that he wanted just enough time to go 50 yrds and kick a FG. Jeez. I'd rather have 2 minutes or so to use.

Just a strange sequence of events that led to no points and some strange calls that the league may need to check out (almost lost KC the chance to have the game vs SD too).

Since Shaun Alexander is the MVP and Brett Favre is not, I reckon that the difference between Seattle with Alexander to without is greater than the difference in the Packers with or without Favre.

With Alexander AND Hasselback out, it is no wonder they aren't winning. They are a top 4 team in the league with those two in.

I disagree with the bottom portion of this. Without Favre, the Packers never would have made the playoffs in 1996 or 1997 with Jim McMahon quarterbacking.

The Bears might be better than them.
The Vikings are not better than them. They beat them minus their two best players.
The colts, possible.
Dallas hasn't blown anyone away this year.
Philly is good but they would lose to Seattle.
NO is not even close to for real yet and would get SMOKED by a full strength Seattle.

Seattle's time is done.

Yes, one player can be key. But if you can't win without him, you are not good. If you want to talk about the SuperBowl Packers, we made it happen despite the rash of injuries at WR. Why? 'Cause we were a good TEAM.

Sorry but you would have to be a fool to think that the 96 team wouldn't have made the playoffs with McMahon QBing. They wouldn't have made the big game but they would have made the playoffs. The D was number one in points allowed!

You guys are dreaming. You're saying the team that deserved to win the superbowl ( ref screw job ) is not that good. They lost to a full strength Bears team without the most valuable player in the league. Alexander gives them 1800 yards rushing, and 25 TDs. Without him, Morris has had 35 yards rushing a game, or 560 rushing yards in a season with 0 TDs. 1300 extra yards plus 175 additional points sure make things a lot easier, don't you think?

They lost today because two of their three best players were out. This is like saying the 1996 packers without Favre and White were only an average team. Well, no kidding, superstars win games, and when 2 of their 3 were out of the game, of course they aren't going to be a dominant team.

Seahawks are the best team in the NFC at full strength. Hands down. They have the 2nd best QB in the NFC. The best running back in the league, and the best offensive line in the league. The also have a top 5 defense when they can generate a running game and aren't on the field for 40 minutes a game.

With the loss of Hutch, they no longer have the best Oline.

But they lost to "the best team in the league" when that one player was out. That is the only game they lost down one playmaker. Now that they're down two they dropped another game to a solid vikings team.

Teams win with playmakers. Seattle has 3. Two of them are out. Without being able to run the football and sustain an offense, they are no better than the Packers and their one playmaker. When they throw in two more of the best players in the league into the fray, they are a damn good team.

They were last year but not this season. Chicago has passed them by. Seattle seems to have lost their mojo this season, with or without Alexander.

Right, but they have the best offensive linemen in the league in Walter Jones. 1800 yards and 25 TD versus 560 yards and 0 TD. That is the difference right there. Now with a backup QB filling in for a premier quarterback things are only going to get worse.

But just wait, they'll be the NFC superbowl representative.

They'll never win in Chicago! The NFC will go to the BEARS unless someone knocks them out of the number one seed because at home they are a dominant team. On the road, they struggle.

They lost to the Bears ( undefeated ) and to a strong Minnesota team without their RB and QB. They're still a playoff team no matter what division they are in so far. Lets not forget they beat New York quite handedly as well as St. Louis, two teams that are of playoff calibur.

Seahawks end the season 12-4 and lose in Super Bowl to Broncos. You can quote me on that one.

The Rams and the Gmen are not dominant teams even though they have decent records and the Vikings are good but not dominant.

Partial,

Seattle was well on its way to losing this game before Hasslebeck went out. Seattle never got into a rythmn in this game. I watched the WHOLE game.

Yes, having Alexander out is HUGE, but he wasn't playing particularly well BEFORE he went out injured.

Something is wrong in Seattle, and I'm pointing to the left guard. Remember, ALL the running plays were geared to go left. Shaun loved to run behind Walter Jones and Hutchison.

If they get that fixed, I believe you'll be right Partial, but thats a HUGE if right now.

Chicago is tied to Grossman at this point. He stays healthy, and I'm not sure anybody beats them. Without Grossman I think it's likely they choke in the playoffs again. Griese is too far removed from 1st team snaps to be effective.

Here's my list of teams better than SEA.

San Diego
Chicago
Dallas
Atlanta
New Orleans
Jacksonville
Baltimore
Indianapolis
Philadelphia
Minnesota
St. Louis
Pittsburgh
Denver
N.Y. Giants
Carolina
Cincinnati

Wow; IMO some of you grossly underestimate Seattle when they are all healthy.

Despite their record, Carolina, if they make it, is still a VERY dangerous playoff team.

I agree something is wrong with that OL in Seattle; Alexander wasn't tearing things up before he was injured and the OL and Morris looked downright sad.

That being said, if Hasslebeck does not go down today I still think Seattle would have won this game, and I still consider them to be a NFC playoff team that can be dangerous when all are nursed back to health.

They'll be fine once SA is healthy. I have a suspicion he was hurt all year and they didn't know it.

More times than not the team that looks the best after week 7 of the regular season does not end up the Super Bowl champion. I wouldn't write off the Seahawks yet--provided Hasselbeck isn't seriously injured and Alexander comes back at full strength. Any team can beat another team on any given Sunday, but Seattle is better than the likes of Dallas, Atlanta, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Minnesota, St. Louis, the Giants when they are healthy.

Seattle, injured, got their ass handed to 'em today. They got very lucky beating the Rams last week - a team the Packers had on the rope.

Injuries are part of football. Seattle's offense/defense is average. They've got Holmgren and some stars - plus the trade for Branch.

My rankings have no opinions - just following a format. If Hasslebeck is hurt seriously, this team could struggle for the next month.

Could they turn it around - definitely.

Are there teams on my list that are sleepers - for sure.

After week 10, this discussion/rankings will be more relevant.

They need more than SA. We'll see b/c he's back next week, or the following for sure.

I hope you are right Partial, I've got him in my fantasy league and it's been really tough, but I don't see it right now.

MM should be able to run behind that line and he CAN'T. Morris is a good backup, I'd venture to say he's more talented than either Morency or Herron. Probably in the top half of the league for backups.

Something is wrong in Seattle. I'm not writing them off, not by a long shot, but I don't think they are in very good shape. Pittsburg is in worse shape, but other than that, Seattle is on the ropes right now.

Seneca Wallace better be up to the challenge, and someone better get him some stilts, did you see the batted down passes? Not good.

They are going to have some problems because they thought a journeyman could step in for an all-pro. I think they'll just run more to the outside and they'll be fine.

Alexander is at the same stage of his carrer as Ahman Green. He too might be beginning to slide.

Green is only 6 months older (2/16/77 vs. 8/30/77)
Alexander has more career rushing attempts (1782 vs. 1663)
Green has more pass receptions (321 vs. 193)

Alexander is not an outside runner. He's not particularly quick and doesn't have a burst of explosiveness. What he has is great feet and vision. Alexander's strength is setting up his blockers, which he was able to do last year by running left and waiting for a crease to appear behind Jones/Hutchinson. He also got good downfield blocking from Jurevicius (gone) once he got into the secondary. He has struggled all year and I doubt much will change.

While I wouldn't write Seattle off yet, I think they'll have to do it behind Hasselbeck and their 4 good WR rather than behind a dominant running game.

I am calling it, he finishes the year with 1300 yards which won't be bad considering he has been beat up all year and missed a few games now.
