I hope it doesn't happen but it sure looks like it....lots of upsets this week though.....

To be honest, I don't really care if the Bears win/lose this game. It's clear they are the kings of the North this year - I just don't want them to go undefeated and win a SB. We'd never hear the end of it.

Being a man of kharma, I see that the first time the Bears are (struggling) we've turned into 'Bearmen' ourselves.

I'm not sure we're in a position to talk crap until we win our 8th game or beat them at Soldier Field.

Damn baby, look at that facemask!

That mask appears to serve two purposes:
1) Fulfill the NFL requirement that a helmet have a facemask.
2) Protect the throat in case of an attack by the Master of the Flying Guillotine or anyone else with designs on cutting one's throat.

I can't say that 2) has ever crossed my mind before in the context of football, but in retrospect that punter might be a smart guy.

I dont think the Cardinals are a horrible team. However, they are playing on Monday night, in front of a national TV audience after being told they can't win all week long. Plus, they are at home. The Cardinals won't be an easy win by any means, but they will most likely not play this well on Oct. 29. Kind of like when we went to Houston a couple years ago on Sunday night football. They gave us all we could handle because it was their "super bowl."

Well, I'm working in Kentucky now - maybe for the next 10-12 months. It's been a long day of travelling (12 hours, two cities, one hour delay watching Air Force One land behind my plan). Time to take some pills and see if I can catch some zzz's before I have to wake up at what feels like 3 AM tomorrow.

I wish MNF was back at 8 EST - even though it's really early for the WC.

I look forward to reading this thread tomorrow and hopefully celebrating an imperfect Bear's team

Ferguson was drafted in the 2nd round in 2001--the same year David Terrell was taken in the 1st round by the Bears. How did that pick work out?

That play was sweet. I was down 1 point in my big money league. I have the Bears defense. They had ZERO points (0 sacks, interceptions, or forced fumbles) tonight. I thought I was going to have an all-time collapse. Victory!

Sometimes, yes. They get a touchdown because the Cards RT decides not to block the DE. They get another defensive TD after James gets rapped up and they strip before the refs blow the whistle. They get a return TD. Their offense plays like the old Bengals of the 90's. And the opponents kicker whiffs on a 40 yd FG to win it, in basically a dome. Didn't watch the game until my fantasy contest tightened up. Bears have looked great all year, so they are allowed a stinker. However, that was truly a lucky win (ala the 2001 & 2005 Bears). They haven't had any others this year, so unless Grossman continues to play like he did tonight, they should be okay in the long run. This team is better than those other Bears teams. That's all I'll say about the Bears--other than they were good for me in fantasy ball again.

BTW, that meltdown by the Cards made the Packers meltdowns in the last two years look weak in comparison.

You're a little off on the cliche you should use for this game. The correct response is: "Good teams sometimes need a little luck to win.". Hey Bearman.. just want you to realize how bad your team looked against a team that is about the talent level of the Packers tonight. The bears need to fix things, or they are not going anywhere.. thats just the flat out truth. But it was a very good exciting win, and thats what good teams do.. take advantage of poor teams mistakes. We see our mistakes being made the most of every week it seems cuz we are one of those teams that can say we should have 1-2 more wins.

I'm sorry, but if you didn't see it, Denny hit the stand and screamed "THE BEARS ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE"......you know, somewhere down the road, that's going to be a sportscenter, or somethign paridy...."Playoffs?"......"THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY ARE"...glad they were actually the bears, and weren't somehow the Vikings or something...sneaky.

Great teams FIND a way to win !

GO BEARS !

You're a little off on the cliche you should use for this game. The correct response is: "Good teams sometimes need a little luck to win.". Although that might be quite an exaggeration considering just how lucky the Bears were. 2 defensive TD's and a return TD all late in the game, and a missed 40 yd FG to win. Sheesh.

The missed FG was luck, the TD's were players making plays...

They scored 2 defensive TD's and a return TD within a quarter and one minute, and against a team with the lead. You don't think there's some luck to that?

Denny's postgame meltdown was at the same time hilarious, terrifying, mystifying, and kind of hilarious.

You can call it luck, I call it determination. Down by 20 at the half and DA BEARS never quit ! The "D" steped up and played one hell of a second half ! Yes our ofence struggled, it happens, but did you see Brian Urlacher take this game into his hands and help win it for DA BEARS. That man is deserving of the defencive player of the year ! Ok, he missed a 40 yard FG, he mised a 41 yard FG earlier. It is what it is, ... a WIN !

BEARMAN,

Since you started the game thread and then bailed when the Bears were sucking, you should feel obligated to go to bed.

Lucky win for the Bears. Unlike 2001 and 2005, this hasn't been the norm. I felt they were fraudalent in 2001 and 2005 before their playoff embarrassments. I don't feel the same way about this team. They'll be a contender in the NFC. It probably all boils down to which Rex Grossman will show up in the playoffs.

This games again shows you that there isn't a whole lot between the bad teams and good teams in the NFL oftentimes.

The Bears are the first team in NFL history to come back from a 20 pt defecit without an offensive TD. And, they did it with only 16:00 left in the game. No, that's not luck

Sorry, someone there stole my name then. I've never posted there. The Bear fans there are to retarded to be associated with...

Sorry for the assumption. I welcome opposing fans, but can't stand the likes of the Bears fans on the JSO forum. Kind of have my radar out for those types. Well, welcome to the forum then.

I think your Bears are a legitimate contender in the NFC. Every team throws in stinkers during the year. There are four legit contenders in the NFC for a Super Bowl berth: Seattle, Chicago, Philly, and Carolina. Not sure about the Saints yet.

I have to give you guys credit over here on Packerrats. I just got home from watching the game at the sports bar and decided to read the game threads on here and JSonline. As opposing fans we always like to shoot down each others accomplishments(its nature). But you guys at least have sensible arguments. I just left JSonline and its like a talking to pouting kids over there. I must appologize for cheating on Packerrats for a lil fun with JSonline. I mean they are just kinda of fun to mess with but 2nite I have to pass on the bootycall.

Congratulations on the win. Must feel great to be a Bears fan right now. The Bears took advantage of every break they were given but there was definitely a whole lot of luck involved.

The only possible upside to all this is that, with this win, Bears' fans expectations continue to grow. I'm hoping it swells up before getting popped again like last year. There were Bears fans in my neighborhood shooting off fireworks after the win like they had just won the Super Bowl.

46 years, 8 months and 1 day. Why ?

Just wondering. You went through a lot of miserable years with the Bears before Ditka arrived, they were good for several years, and then they won it in 1985. Since then, it's been mostly miserable again.

I'm 10 years younger. With the Packers I've had the same timeline. The Packers went through a lot of miserable years before Favre/Holmgren/Wolf arrived, they were good for several years (well, for the better part of 13-14 years), and they won it in 1996 (about the same age as you when the Bears won it). Hopefully, I don't have to suffer through too much more miserable.

I'm sure there's some regret about the Bears only winning one title under Ditka. Packer fans are lamenting the same thing for the mid-90s Packers.

I'm not as old as bearman, so I missed the pre 80's Bear misery. But I suffered through the last 15 years and it does suck, especially when the Packers did so well during that stretch. Through it all though I have watched every single game, (except the last game of '93 or '94 against the Rams that wasn't aired in my market). I take pride in the fact that I stuck w/ them through thick and thin.

It's easy to be a fn when your winning divisions, you have a HOF QB, you have some playoff sucess. The true fan shines through when your team is down and you root for them and stand behind them even tho you know they suck. It makes nights like tonight and years like this one that much sweeter and no one you know can accuse you of being a fair weather fan...like my Packer fan father in law is. He's already quit watching them, I checked his fridge saturday, no more schedule posted w/ scores written on them. Fucking poser, he even started watching the White Sox this year after giving me shit the last 15 years for being a baseball fan. All of a sudden he has to watch "his Sox".

So stay true man, no matter who you root for. Remember even Bears and Vikings fans are just guys w/ jobs and families looking for something to root for and distract us from our mundane lifes too just like you.

I take responsibility for the Bear's winning - last I saw was AZ returning an INT for a TD and then having it probably called back. I shoulda stayed to watch the meltdown

Kornheiser was jinxing people all night. Something like, no team has ever lost two games in one season (or back-back) after being up 14 after the first Q (or some crazy Stat Inc. fact).

The Bears found a way to win - defense and special teams.

The fact is, Grossman looked really bad. The Bear's defense wasn't that impressive.

This will either give teams more film to mock and give them issues down the line OR pump up the Bears to think they're all powerful.

You are the type of fan every team needs. I remember the Anthony Dilweg experiment. Randy Wright. Forrest Gump Gregg. Fullwood. Hell Darrell Thompson went to my high school a year ahead of me and I played pickup football games with him as a kid. Im such a homer, I think Robbie Bosco could have been something.

Me too. I gave up at the half and hit the mute button unless there was a zebra with something to say. Made the game much more enjoyable. Sidenote: you don't HAVE to have someone in the booth in the 2nd Qtr. This isn't a damned circus. Then again, if he can shut Theis up for a couple of plays, perhaps it's worth it.

I am going to root for Berrian to do well, Rex Grossman to do well, the Defense to do very poorly, A. Boldin to do poorly, and the Bears to loose.

For your fantasy sake, I'm going to have to say: Ouch.
