Please post your connection speed as I’m trying to compare my crappy rr connection with other people in Wisconsin. I think I may have the worst connection in all of Milwaukee.

You all can go to hell with your fast connections!! mine is outrageously slow for the 5 of us, especially seeing as we're all nerds and someone is constantly downloading something.

Mine is definitely not the fastest from the Fox Valley.

But I'll take it. Anyone have AT&T's DSL to test out? I'd be curious on what they get for the price compared to my "slightly" expensive RR.

Mine is 4884 kpbs download and 366kbps upload.

Pete - your d/l speed is about right for a DSL, and u/l is quite good. The reason for the seeming slowness is actually your latency. Are you actually on cable? I've heard they can get some ugly latency numbers. If so, that is a pretty low U/L.

My numbers are ok - supposed to have a 3mbit connection, and it looks like that's what I've got!

Clear your cache, repeat. Odds are it already had the file stored in memory.

the numbers are not the same, what makes you say that? A wired connection should be faster, and it is.

Right. I understand that. The file that it downloaded to test this is most likely saved in your virtual memory, which means all there is going to be is seek time to find it and access it, rather than download, find it, access it.

well, Im not running the wire again. the numbers line up with what I would get any other time so stop hatin on my speed!

I think the reason my connection has issues is that I have the cable line spliced, think I'm runing too many off one line.

I pay for the 3meg package, so getting this for speeds is just fine by me:

fair enough, I couldn't care less. Either way, I am very jealous being stuck on this DSL compared to some of you guys and your T3 home connections

someone was curious as to AT&T's DSL....here ya go. This is on a wireless connection. I'm about 9000' from the CO

http://www.speedtest.net/result/54671471.png (http://www.speedtest.net)

I ditched RR 2-1/2 years ago because it was so damn slow at times. Perhaps I'm on a busier node than others, but RR was not the best solution for me. Have had DSL and will never go back to cable. At half the cost and all the premium Yahoo content, what's not to love about it?

Maybe for gaming and stuff you care about having a 10mbps connection, but for my normal web viewing, uploading my webpage and downloading music, my 3MB package works just fine for me.

Can you get naked dsl from them or do you need to get their phone service too? I am looking into getting a complete solution from a company but do not want home phone, just cellular service, cable/satalite tv, internet at an affordable cost.

Partial, no nakedness from them!

I think DSL would be alot more popular if they offered it that way though. However, that is why they can offer it so cheap, because it's bundled with phone service.

FYI, DSL Pro would cost you $17.99 and a plain jane phone line is $13. Technically, still cheaper than cable. Their 1.5MB package is $12.99, which blows me away when people that CAN get DSL are still on dial-up because "we don't use the internet that much" I am in a bad pocket for cell service, so having a cell phone only, really isn't an option for me. Besides, it's nice not to have telemarketers call your cell phone

CF roadrunner **up to 10Mbps** and they keep getting better. Main reason Ill pay more. It never fails and is fast as all hell.

Looks like I'm getting the most out of my 3meg down. Cable up speed is sad though.
