Early Labor So Husband Can Watch Bears

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. (AP) - Nine months pregnant and married to a fervent Bears fan with tickets to Sunday's NFC Championship game, Colleen Pavelka didn't want to risk going into labor during the game against the New Orleans Saints. Due to give birth on Monday, Pavelka's doctor told her Friday she could induce labor early. She opted for the Friday delivery.

"I thought, how could (Mark) miss this one opportunity that he might never have again in his life?" said Pavelka, 28, from the southwestern Chicago suburb of Homer Glen.

At 10:45 p.m. Friday, Mark Patrick Pavelka was born at Palos Community Hospital after close to six hours of labor.

While her husband watched the Bears play the New Orleans Saints at Soldier Field Sunday, Colleen planned to watch in the hospital with the baby wrapped in a Bears blanket _ a Christmas gift from his grandmother.

The couple named Mark after his father, who wore a "Monsters of the Midway" shirt during the delivery.

"If he wasn't born by Sunday and the Bears won, I would have named him Rex," after Bears quarterback Rex Grossman, joked Mark Pavelka, 28.

Mark is the couple's second son.

His parents should be embarrassed that he even exists.

I think that first story is pretty cool. Had it been the Packers I would have done the same thing, even just to watch it on TV.

The idiot in the pic is obviously some wimpass crybaby who couldnt even fit all the letters on his ignorant sign. If bears fans are so tough why didnt one of them tell him to throw it away?

Not sure what is more sad, the idiot that made that sign or his friends also thinking it's cool.

how bout the two asshole bears fans that were flipping off the camera during the game? they do a pan of the crowd, and theres two bears fans one behind the other (probably having gay butt sex), flipping off the camera, then continuing tho do it the whole time the camera was on the crowd. one even got up and started to run to stay in the picture why he did it

This guy really needs an ass kicking like no other. I'm sure security didn’t let them bring it in?

The Bear fan with the sign obviously showed very poor taste. But then again, the author of this thread has an Adolf Hitler avatar.

Comedy is very subjective.

You slip on ice and fall on your ass = Pure Comedy

Me slipping on ice and falling on my ass = Horrible Tragedy

I thought it was pretty damn low.

How many people were affected and how many people stole money?

Its a case that a few bad apples spoils the rest. Lumping all them together is not a fair assessment. The move was classless.

Katrina ruined alot of lives and killed alot of people. That puss needs that stupid little grin knocked the hell off his stupid little face...and then shipped straight to New Orleans with that sign.

Actually, it was people falsely claiming to be Katrina victims who were guilty of the fraud. Some people made dozens of claims using different addresses to get money from FEMA.

There were plenty of Katrina "victims" that took their emergency funds debit card to the nearest strip bar. Or they formed new criminal enterprises in adopted cities like Houston.

I liked the Saints for the way the played football. The cultural aspects of the city are pretty cool.

But the political and social landscape was and is ignorant and corrupt.

The Bear fan's sign was merely mean.
