The Packers offense finished 3rd, 4th, 2nd, and 1st in points scored from 2001-2004. They finished in the top two in yards gained in three of those years. Too bad we didn't have a decent defense to go with the offense in those years. The NFC was there for the taking.

The fact that they didn't even GET to an NFC Championship game during that span is unsettling.

How did the other top 5 NFC offenses do during that time?

No other team was in the top 5 all four years. Philadelphia was top 5 in three of the years and 6th in another. They made it to 4 NFC Championship Games and 1 Super Bowl.

The teams that made it to the NFC Championship Games.

2004 - Philadelphia (3rd in scoring offense); Atlanta (7th); Green Bay was 1st
2003 - Carolina (8th); Philadelphia (6th); Green Bay was 2nd
2002 - Tampa Bay (8th); Philadelphia (2nd); Green Bay was 4th
2001 - St. Louis (1st); Philadephia (2nd); Green Bay was 3rd

Sad, but we probably had the most consistent offense in the NFC from 2001-2004 and didn't even make it to the NFC title game.

Our defenses weren't horrible. They were middle of the road--except for 2004 (we finished 11th in the NFC in scoring defense). We actually had a pretty good offense and defense in 2001 (top 4 in both offense and defense), but St. Louis was in a totally different class from us.

The biggest shame was waisting Brett's prime years. Shermy is responsible for that. Don't know the reason, but some guys, (Shermy, Schotty) just are not good play-off coaches. They choke up for some reason?
