ADALIUS HAS A DEALIO?

An industry source tells us that Ravens linebacker Adalius Thomas already has a deal in place with the San Francisco 49ers.

Thomas and Niners coach Mike Nolan were together in Baltimore, when Nolan was on Brian Billick's staff.

On Sunday, Thomas admitted that the Ravens "don't have the money" to re-sign him.

I expect Thomas to go to SF as well; they have the money and are going to be very aggressive using it.

I don't understand why the pats didn't go after him in a big way. I do hear that they like June but Thomas was a good fit for them.

Only if it can be proven Teams are doing these backroom deals much more than one thinks.

True, but we hear reports like this every year at this time. Some turn out true (Manuel to Green Bay). Many do not. It makes sense, but I would think New England would be a player--like you said.

nobody else has brought this up yet....how can anyone have a "deal" now? that's labeled as "tamporing" in the NFL.

I found it funny when we signed Manuel...the "rumor" was a $10 million dollar deal, like a week before we signed him...then he signed a 10 milllion dollar contract....NFL constantly talks about how teams aren't allowed to do that

It's only illegal if you get caught.

This type of thing has to happen all the time - Agents wouldn't be good agents if they sat around and waited until the first day of Free agency to shop their player. Do I agree with it, no. Is it against the rules...clearly yes, but it's going to happen. Thomas's agent has to know that the Ravens can't afford him right now and probably won't be able to match what some of the other teams out there have in cap space.

Yeah, I really really wish someone would have brought this up earlier in this conversation. Like maybe 3 posts before yours would have been the [b]PERFECT place for it, too...

I don't see him agreeing to anything until everyone has thrown there hat in the ring. He wants money, and will wait to go to the highest bidder.

Therefore it must be true. Note to self - There is ZERO tampering in the NFL.

Thanks for clearing all that up. No tampering, means no tampering. 8)
