Simmons used to be a damn good player, but I can't say that I know how well he's been playing the last couple of years.

What makes you say this? Jenkins' contract was not front loaded and it certainly could have been with all the room we have. This could indicate they're planning on a few moves..[/list]

I think TT was pretty active last year. Woodson, Pickett, Manuel and Taylor to name a few. Now they are not all exciting players, but he was active. I think the Packers will be some what active.

Horn refused a pay cut, not sure about Porter. Prob cap issues...

Colts released DT Montae Reagor and WR Brandon Stokley.

Stokley was an expected cut. We think the Colts will address their slot receiver position on the first day of April's draft. Reagor sustained facial injuries midway through 2006 and landed on I.R. He won't turn 30 until later this offseason but it's uncertain where he is in his rehab.

He had a neck injury last year and missed 5 games I think??? Money and age seem to be the big reasons he was cut...although Lewis said "This is the new NFL and we are going in another direction"??? Sounds like the longest yard to me....
He's a good Vet and could help a lot of teams...if the money is right.

49ers released Antonio Bryant.

San Francisco structured Bryant's contract so that they would take a minimal cap hit if they decided to cut bait quickly. His suspension sealed his time as a 49er. Talented yet inconsistent, Bryant will come at a bargain this offseason. He's now been dumped by three teams in as many years and is suspended for the first two games of 2007. The 49ers have a gigantic hole at receiver and will surely sign one of the top wideouts available.

They could jump into the Moss talks..

Hartwell was excellent with Baltimore, and barely played due to injuries the last two years in Atlanta. I'm not sure if he is an inside or outside LB, but if outside and healthy, could be a big upgrade over Popp.

I say we start building an all-thug/all-ego team out of the free agents....

Sign the Captain of the Love Boat, Fred Smut and add the following crew:

Pacman Jones
Joey Porter

Of course, we need to trade for Randy Moss and Albert "The Stomper" Haynesworth.

I'd like to get Ahmad Carroll back for special teams too - "dawg!"

Who am I missing?

With the new CBA the cap went way, way up. When these guys are getting cut, it often has little to do with just a high salary. Hell, Brett Favre's salary is huge, and you dont see the Packers cutting him. And the Colts aren't about to cut Peyton Manning. My point is, these guys are either old, oft-injured, or have bad attitudes/criminal records. So you can maybe, maybe get a guy to push you over the edge if you're close to the
Super Bowl, but these guys are recycled, man. There's no long term answers in there, and perhaps very few short term answers. Buyer beware.

Buyer beware under their just terminated contract terms. These guys are overpaid. But many of them can still help your team if signed for more resonable $$$.
