Dolphins signed former Packers TE David Martin.

This, couple with the news that Randy McMichael is on the trading block, could make Martin someone to watch in training camp. He's never been able to stay healthy as a pro, but Martin has great pass-catching skills and Cam Cameron will know how to use him. Mar. 4 - 10:24 pm et

Good. Now, Thompson will have to get some new blood at TE.

No problem with him personally, but I won't miss him missing games.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. But when your name is always preceded by the words "the oft-injured" then you're pretty much stuck. How often does one of those "oft-injured" types come back and suddenly play healthy for two seasons or more in a row?

Wonder how much the Fins paid to have this guy look good for part of the season, then get hurt.

What about Zac Alcorn. His bio looks good. I know he's not a big name guy but maybe we have a solid contributor at TE already on our roster. I know he isn't a Proven player yet, just a thought.

My suspicion is that he was signed largely to appease whining on Dolphins fans message boards about the relative inactivity of their GM.

I can't honestly come up with another explanation...

As I see it.

Although the loss of Ahman Green may have been a major pothole for us in 2007. The loss of D. Martin is merely a bump.

What a tease! (If you're into college wide outs that grow into tight ends). He had plenty of chances to distinguish himself (Why did you drop Farve's 5th TD pass at Oakland?) but didn't. Happy trails....

Fine with me, as long as this isn't seen as too much of a vote of confidence in Bubba Franks.

Losing Martin, IMO is no big deal. Sure, I'd be ok if they resigned him, but I'm not going to cry over a TE that gets hurt when the wind blows on him. Seems like he was always hurt.

I've got a feeling that TT expected this, now I'd just like to know what his plan is moving forward. They have 4 TEs on the roster now: Alcorn, Humphrey, Lee and Bubba. Obviously, I can't see TT standing pat with this pathetic group - well at least pathetic as of late.

I am not bother by this signing. Are we adding by subtraction? We are losing players and not signing any.

We are losing a teaser, and gaining an open roster spot that ,hopefully, will be filled by someone who can play 16 games.
