"The 37th pick from the Jets for Thomas Jones and the Bears 2nd rounder (63rd overall) is what my insiders are telling me. "

According to league sources, the Bears have agreed to trade RB Thomas Jones and a 2007 second-round pick (No. 63 overall) to the Jets for a 2007 second-round pick -- No. 37 overall -- which was acquired previously in a trade from Washington, ESPN.com's Michael Smith reported.

The Jets still have two picks in the second round -- No. 59 and now No. 63.

The Jets and Jones' representative, Drew Rosenhaus, are believed to be working on a new contract with Jones, whose unhappiness with his Bears contract led to him skipping offseason workouts this past season.

The Bears now have the No. 31st (first round) and 37th overall picks.

Thanks!!!

So that's 254 points, or roughly the 3rd pick in the 3rd round.

Good. I'd rather we face Cedric Benson than Jones..I don't think either of them is anything special though *knock on wood*

There was absolutely no way the Bears were going to trade Jones to a division rival. Can't wait to see how the TT haters spin this one. :?

The Jets have Leon Washington.
Either they are going to follow the Colts lead with the 2-headed monster RB approach with Jones- or perhaps do the same thing by drafting a back with one of their 2nd round picks.
The Bears would never have made a deal with us for Jones.....but would the Jets?

leave it to the bears to help improve the packers backfield by default. their running game is almost as big a question mark as ours now.

maybe they intend to make grossman the focal point of their offense now.

dang, i need an roflmao emotie to put at the end of this.....

PS : watched all Bear games this year, and Cedric Benson - at least in my opinion - is not as good as Jones. Jones was a very smart, patient runner, and was liked very much by teammates. Benson reminds me of Anthony Thomas - no finesse at all -and he is a jerk, to boot.

i guess cedrick benson's sparkling performance in the super bowl convinced chicago how expendable thomas jones was.

Leon Washington isn't very durable if I remember right. I see a two headed approach here...

Bears have made Rexy the focal point of their offense whether they realize it or not. Cedric "I got an owie because Bob Sanders kicked my sorry butt and I'm going to sit out the rest of the Super Bowl" Benson doesn't play hurt. He was inactive for 3 or 4 games this year and the coaching staff questioned his desire to play. Translation: Benson could have played but decided not to.

Bears leading rusher will be fullback Jason McKie with about 300 yards.

Jones is gone and Briggs is next. Leave it to the cheap McCaskey family to screw over the Bears.

Bears will be lucky to score 10 points a game this year. They'll continue the recent tradition of Super Bowl losers finishing under 500 the next year.

Say it with me everyone: GREEN BAY PACKERS 2007 NFC NORTH DIVISION CHAMPIONS!!!

The move reduces the strength of the Bear team which is helpful to the Packers. The Jets got a good deal.

Both backs apparently weren't going to co-exist in Chiago. A good deal for both teams. Bears get two early picks now.
