Humphrey was exclusive rights free agent; fullback signs with Cardinals

Tight end Tory Humphrey signed a one-year contract as an exclusive rights free agent on Friday, according to a source with access to National Football League Players Association data.
Humphrey played in seven games, mainly on special teams, last season with the Packers. His season came to an end on Nov. 12 when he sustained a torn hamstring against the Vikings and placed on injured reserve three days later.

Humphrey played well in NFL Europe last season, then had a strong training camp, but was buried on the depth chart behind Bubba Franks, David Martin and Donald Lee.

Humphrey had five special teams tackles last season. He has yet to catch a pass in eight games for the Packers since he was signed to the team's practice squad in 2005.

As an exclusive rights free agent, Humphrey was unable to negotiate with any other National Football League team. The Packers own his rights and likely made him the minimum qualifying offer of a one-year, $435,000 contract.

It's good we have some depth at TE it seems, since in McCarthy's offensive system all TEs are trained as FBs as well, so with enough decent TE prospects our need at fullback is less glaring.
