Spikes and QB, Kelley Holcomb have been traded to the Eagles for Darwin Walker and a 2008 late round pick.

Spikes is washed up. I don't think this does too much for the Eagles.

Old, but still a very serviceable starter.

Yep and Walker became their backup last year.

Walker started last year. He's a good player. This is pretty much a wash to me. Good DTs are harder to find than good LBs. Both guys are approaching 30. Takeo has missed 17 games due to injury the last 2 years. The Eagles did draft Bunkley in the first round, so this will be a chance to get him into the starting lineup alongside Mike Patterson. Same can be said for Buffalo though. They wanted to find a way to get Angelo Crowell (future star) and Keith Ellison in the game, so they sent Spikes and Fletcher packing.

Spikes looked to be an elite player early in his career but has severly fallen off.

the interesting thing this year is that with so much cap room, teams are treding players more readily. they're prepared to absorb what would have been a budget busting cap hit, than spend up that cap room on overpaying a marginal player in free agency.

gives the teams a lot more flexibility than when there was hardly any cap room to make such trades up until the last 2 years.

I think this is great for the Packers. I think this means that the Bills will be targeting Willis at 12.Meaning they wont take Lynch.
