Anyone ever been? I'll be going there on my honeymoon for a week in August. Just wondering if it's a nice spot to visit.

I've been there two times, it's beautiful. Besides of course the falls, right next to the falls there’s lots of nice restaurants and some pretty nice night life. I remember walking out of my hotel room at 4 am and their was still people out having a good time.

If your going to go though, make sure it's because of the falls because it's definitely the best part. Plus you can go on this boat called the maid of the mist that takes you right up to the falls. But be ready to get pretty wet from all the mist though. :) Also, if I remember correctly they have fire works every Friday.

If you decide to go, I hope you fun.

Edit: I forgot to say that am talking about the Canada side.

Also I just remembered that on the movie Bruce Almighty there is a scene were Jim Carey is on the maid of the mist giving a report. It's a pretty accurate representation of how it is.

Yes I remember Jim Carrey riding that boat on Bruce Almighty. I already made reservations for 5 nights on the Canadian side. Thanks for the info. I love night life and I'm looking forward to it! I'll definitely ride the Maid of the Mist.

I live pretty near the Falls.

Maid of the Mist is a must. There's a casino right near the falls as well if that's your sort of thing (it isn't mine, but I've heard it's good).

Something else to do is to take a wine tour. There are over 70 wineries in Niagara on the Lake and on the bench. Some GREAT ones, and AFAIK all have free tastings. One notable exception that charges is Stratus - not better, just hoity-toity. Avoid them.
Last tour I took was with http://www.grapeandwinetours.com/ (look under day trips) and it was a blast. They bomb you around to 4 or 5 winneries in a mini-van, driver/guide is pretty knowledgeable. Bring money, and trunk space, 'cause you'll be bringing some stuff home!

Also, be sure to stop by the Falls Manor for breakfast. Really popular local place - I know the owner quite well. Nice hearty breakfast - you won't be sorry. If you are hung over, order the bacon, eggs and homefries.

What else...if you're into cars, there's a cruise night on the main street heading down to the falls- Tuesday night I think? Everyone who's got a rod of any sort goes by there and parks in a big lot. You can walk around and see some pretty amazing stuff, and all the owners are there and more than willing to brag about their wheels. This has been going on in this parking lot for 30+ years.

Damned if I can remember where it is though! If you're in Niagara, ask any local about cruise night, and everybody parking in a mall lot. I'm not a car fan, and I really enjoyed it.

Many years ago (30-35) we walked down to the Falls on a paid tour. I've been there 5 or 6 times since then, but I'm not sure if the walk is still available or not. I have not looked for it since then, mostly because I have been there late in the fall or in winter when it has been quite cold, and I wasn't interested in getting wet! If the walk is still available, do it; it was fantastic.

Thanks guys! I'll be sure to take the walk if available and I'll ask about cruise night. I'm a huge car fan. I have a 1969 Chevelle myself...but I don't think I'll be making the 9 hour trip with that car. Again, thanks for all the info.

You'll like it then.

The parking lot is split in two - domestic and import. Most of the domestic stuff is old, and heavy on Dodges. There was a mint bright orange '71 Super Bee - I want to say it had the 440 six-pack, but it may have been a 383. More than a couple very good condition 67-69 Camaros. Some Hemi's, of course. And yes, there are some guys that will bring in their LS6's.

The imports are pretty neat as well. Lot 'Fast and Furious' style street rods with Nox bottles on the passenger seat 8-) Some of them are obvious posers, but there are a couple that obviously mean business.

The amazing part is that it's just a damn parking lot. A little spooky at first (it's not real well lit) but you just walk in. I've paid good money to see line-ups of cars like this.

Been to the Canadian side twice. Once on a 2nd honeymoon and once with my kids.

The downtown is a little cheesy, but I'd go back to the place in a heartbeat.

But just seeing the awesomeness of the Falls is something to behold. Maid of the Mist boat ride is worth it, so is the tour behind the Falls itself. But just standing next to the rail by the falls' edge and seeing how much water goes over is just mind boggling.

There's a cool cable car ride over the gorge of Niagara Falls. Even took a helicopter ride over it. Definitely enjoyable.

There are wineries and other touristy spots just outside Niagara Falls, Toronto isn't that far away either.
