View Full Version : Pick a song for this upcoming season

Okay, I'm bored and it's too early to drink beer (then again it is noon somewhere in the world). Anyways was thinking it might be fun to pick a song to indicate your feeling towards this upcoming season. Should lead to some unusual selections is my guess.

Might I suggest the Beach Boy's - Good Vibrations :) Came down to that or AC/DC's Hell's Bells and I'm an optimist for this upcoming season.

Rastak was the Doors reference for the Pack or the Vikes this year? If the Pack - et tu brute?

The Bears song would have to be REM's - "It's the End of the World as we know and Rex feels fine" :)

Reminds me of 1980 when the Lions started out 4 - 0, and the whole town - and the team - was singing "Another One Bites the Dust." The confidence level was over the top. The team finished 9-7, played SF in the first round, had a chance to win on a final-play-of-the-game field goal of (I think) 40 yards...and Eddie Murray, the kicker, missed it.

So no team songs for me, thanks.

"we had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun." I know its not very forward thinking, but you really can't beat the good old days - those memories bring people together.

Doesn't the subject of that song die in the end?

Harlan, it's great to see you posting.

But that is one depressing song. Wasn't that Gilbert O' Sullivan, and didn't he also do a song about seducing his young niece? If Mark Chmura were on the team, that'd be a good one.

A series of songs:

first part of the season: 'Tomorrow' (from Annie - 'the sun will come out, tomorrow . . .')
Second part: 'More than a feeling'
3rd part: 'Fight the good fight'
4th part: 'We are the Champions'

After the season (for TT bashers): 'We won't get fooled again'

okay, I am dating myself with the Triumph song.

For the bears, vikings, and lions: Beck - Loser

yo, cut it
Soy un perdedor, I'm a loser baby so why don't you kill me,
double barrel buckshot,
Soy un perdedor, I'm a loser baby so why don't you kill me

For our young Packers: If your gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough

If your gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough
When you get knocked down you gotta get back up,
I ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer but I know enough, to know,
If your gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough

Well, I drenched my brain with Rot-Gut whiskey
'Till all my pain was chicken fried
And I had dudes with badges frisk me
Teach me how to swallow pride
I took advice no fool would take
I got some habits I cant't shake
I ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I know enough to know
If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough

If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough
When you get knocked down, you gotta get back up
That's the way it is in life and love
If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough

I've been up and down and down and out
I've been left and right and wrong
Yeah, I've walked the walk and I've run my mouth
I've been on the short end for too long
But if they gave medals for honky tonk wars
Hell, I'd put mine in my chest of drawers
With my IRS bills and divorce papers and all that stuff
If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough

If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough
When you get knocked down, you gotta get back up
I ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I know enough to know
If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough

Not sure who the artist is but I heard it in the movie Jackass.

Proof, "I" did not start it !

As long as we are on the subject of "sucking", How about your alls Owner, GM and Coach, letting Randy Moss get away ? And then dang near loosing Farve to boot !? WTF ? Have you left the fridge door open too long and all that cheese has melted? You have done absolutly nothing to better your odds in the off season nor in the draft nor free agency. It did not work last season, what makes then think it will work this season ? You still have no "O" line, your QB is old and slow and makes poor decisions(int's), your DB's are suspect, your RB core is almost non existant, want me to go on? OK, Da BEARS lost the SB, but bygawd they went to the SB ! and are poised to do it again ! You all think your melting cheese is gonna stop us, wake up and smell the jock straps !

With the focus this season on the running game How about 'Da do run run' by the Ronettes (sounds like Ron Wolf in drag).

Also, if the Packers really run a lot, you sould set up a chant about Favre and the passing game in the stadium following along with 'Bohemian Rhapsody' One side says "Bismilah NO!, we will not let him throw!" and the other side says "LET HIM THROW!!" etc.

There are two songs from Eve 6 (if you've never heard of them, stop listening to the BeeGees and get with the times  ). The first is called "Fooling Yourself" and is the most realistic version of the way the season is going to go. Here's the chorus:

Yeah you're doing it for yourself
And you don't care what they think
Cause you're searching for something
That you will never find
Something you'll never reach

The second song from them is more of the optimist's viewpoint for the season. It's called "At least We're Dreamin'". Here's a part of the song:

at least we're breathin
at least we're alive
as long as we're dreamin
everythings gonna be alright

im alright, I tell myself twice
in the mirror before I cant go to sleep at night
I need a lullaby I need some time
I need to get a dime bag from my guy

Here's to hoping!!
