"Martin finished with 14,101 yards rushing in 11 active seasons, ranking behind only Emmitt Smith (18,355), Walter Payton (16,726) and Barry Sanders (15,269). His 3,518 carries are third on the NFL's career list, and his 90 rushing touchdowns rank him tied for 12th with Eric Dickerson. Martin was also a versatile offensive weapon throughout his career, catching 484 passes for 3,329 yards and 10 touchdowns."

This guy had one of the "quietest" potential Hall of Fame careers of anyone I can remember. Ten straight years of over 1,000 yards. He never was a media darling off the field but he sure did play well on Sundays. He's my idea of a "Packer person." I wish he'd been a Packer.

Go up to any football fan and ask them to name the top 5 leading rushers in NFL history. I guarantee more then half wouldn't say Curtis Martin.

He was a great player on the field and as good of a person off the field. He has a bust waiting for him in the Hall of Fame.

For that matter, how many could come up with #5 on the list?

I think both of those guys played a little bit under the radar.

Hard not to when your contemporaries are guys like Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders and Marshall Faulk.

I have always admired Curtis Martin. Too bad he never wore the Green and Gold.
