Green Bay Packers' 2007 "Unofficial" Salary Cap

Wednesday, August 1:

The media reports Justin Harrell's 2007 cap number as $1.247 million, thus that's what I have him listed at. I still haven't seen a yearly breakout but it's reported he'll receive a $5.3m option bonus in 2008.

Base salary numbers are supposedly for minimum amounts. The Packers obviously have quite a bit of ** remaining 2007 cap to allocate.

allocated cap = $96,591,032

projected cap = $109,000,000

adjusted cap = $109,653,110

** available cap = $13,062,078

You what we should do if we aren't going to acquire anyone else?

We should just sign EVERYONE that we want from our own team that either will have 1 year remaining next year, or will be a FA. Then we'd have no internal problems next year to worry about.

Yeah, yeah, I know...there's actually a few reasons why this is a bad idea. But hell, the money is just going to go to waste.

I believe we are over the minimum CAP that has to be spent in 2007 now, but I defer to experts on this subject.

The approx. $13 million of available CAP isn't actual money to be spent or otherwise lost, rather available CAP below the 2007 CAP ceiling of $109 Million.

Just because they have it does not not mean they must spend it.

There are accounting tricks that can roll the left over amount into next year.

What is there to spend it on now?

1) Cuts there are salary cap hits to several possible cuts(Manuel)

2) Injury acquisitions. 1.5 million is reserve should be enough.

3) Extensions

Cap room should be a topic of discussion after the final cuts and aquisitions create the season opening roster.

If Harrell looks poor TT will have to do this; I'm not convinced Williams is in TT's plan if Harrell excels.

Gosh, we only have 13,000,000 in space left. Here I thought it was 15,000,000. That makes me feel better

Well, at least maybe Snapper can get rid of the Fraud.

It's time for Robert Ferguson to be a man and a player.

The Packers have certainly stood by him. We need a payoff.

His saving grace may be David Clowney's poor TC to date.

Yet. . . Robert Ferguson isn't in Green Bay to be a #4 - 6 WR. It doesn't look good for him. He'll land on his feet in Houston maybe. For a final chance.

What a disappointment he's turned out to be. Sad.

Is TT saving the space for vet cuts?

Maybe.

The vets that could go are Ferg, Manuel, Franks, & KGB.

All those cuts ould still leave us around 7-8 million or so.

Tough to say what the old swami is up to.
