In no way is that comparable to what that snake did. Recluses are much rarer in their bites then snakes.

The snake just did the damage on the hand. The docs made the cut in the arm to relieve the pressure in the tissue.

Umm that isn't even a bad recluse bite. People have limbs amputated because of them. That is the first google image result, though.

Venom is some scary, scary stuff.

Here's a bite several days old

A friend of mine got bit by a recluse on the stomach but was very lucky and it never got quite as bad as some of those pictures but was still rather disturbing. I have been chomped on by a scorpion and that was no fun, especially since I was way the fuck out in Baja.

Scarey stuff. My my family's last reunion in Wisconsin, my youngest was bitten by a spider on her thigh. Luckily, we rushed to the ER where she received an injection to reduce the infection and swelling.

Fortunately, she was fine the next day.

That was a 13 year old kid who claimed he was not messing with the snake.

Happened near Yosemite where schools around here always take kids on field trips.

Those rattles are all around and you have to keep your eyes open looking for them or at least be listening. Mostly if you leave them alone they leave you alone. But he didn't look around the rock before sitting down.

Most people who get bit like that usually have had some alcohol and think that they have seen even Steve Irwin shows to know what they are doing when they grab the snake.

It would be more rare for a rattler to bite without first warning... with you know its rattle and all.
