Favre will be lucky to see a full quarter

The Dallas RB situation is a nightmare for FFL owners

I really like Julius Jones; but every time he looks really good they get into the red zone and in comes Barber.

Dallas Indy ain't the only game on tonite.

I'm watching that one, but also the local (Cincy) feed.

Yes folks, It's the Bengals vs the Detroit Lyin's.

Guess who's the Lyin's 2nd string QB (& doing pretty good for him)?

The immortal JT O'Sullivan!

I figured the Texans would have signed him long ago.

I am so pissed that we have to play IN Dallas again this year, they've only come to Lambeau once in the last decade. I know it has to do with how the previous years records pan out, but jeez, what a joke, we never see them in Lambeau. That's gonna be a tough game. They're my NFC pick for the SB.

Their D let teams run for 100+ yards on them every game during the regular season last year and they won the SB. I think that the Colts are the exception to the rule that defense wins Super Bowls. If they have trouble this year it's not due to their D, it will be due to their O-Line.

Actually there D was the reason they won the Superbowl last year. There D just completely shut down the other team, run and pass. As a matter of fact it was the story of the playoffs.

Now they have lost:

Doss
Harper
June
McFarland
Simon

And that’s just Defense. I offense they has lost there best Tackle and a valuable RB. I still believe there Offense will be unstoppable, but they better not be hoping there Defense is going to carry them in the playoffs again this year.

I don’t see more than 10 wins with them playing in the AFC.

Poppycock. Simon didn't play at all last year, and some of those other guys are solid but replaceable. Let's not forget they have the second best player in football, an up-and-coming running back, and a solid pass-catching trio.

I agree. It is true that the Colts D was mediocre during the season, but they stepped up in the postseason and played much better.

Partial, I agree that the Offense will still be unbelievable, I never claimed they weren't. But I see this colts team much like the packers of 04. Offense will all the games, gets them in the playoffs with 10 wins or so, and then an early exit because the D still can't get it together.

Doss
Harper
June
McFarland
Simon

Simon didn't play last year. Doss didn't play much. They've got three young picks ready to step in for Harper (and Jason David, who they also lost). Marlin Jackson was a 1st round pick in 2005. Kelvin Hayden was a 2nd round pick in 2005. Tim Jennings was a 2nd round pick in 2006. Damieon Hughes was a 3rd round pick this year. I suspect their corner play won't take a hit. Those guys were not drafted for immediate need, but it shows how a good time drafts. Philadelphia drafts in much the same way. Losing Cato June will hurt. Hard to fault them on McFarland. Any starter for any team could get hurt at any time. It's a good point though. I don't think they'll win the Super Bowl. Their defense was the story of their playoff run--with an improbable turn around at playoff time. I don't see that happening again.

Do we want them to come to Lambeau? I thought our road record was better than our home record.

I agree with you though..it has been a pretty lopsided schedule as far as the Boys are concerned.

The Pack NEEDS to start WINNING it's home games again.

Alright, since you brought it up.....this should really be in the Garbage Can section:

In pharmacology, all drugs have two names, a trade name and generic name. For example, the trade name of Tylenol also has a generic name of Acetaminophen. Aleve is also called Naproxen. Amoxil is also called Amoxicillin and Advil is also called Ibuprofen.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.
Pfizer Corp. announced today that Viagra will soon be available in liquid form, and will be marketed by Pepsi Cola as a power beverage suitable for use as a mixer. It will now be possible for a man to literally pour himself a stiff one. Obviously we can no longer call this a soft drink, and it gives new meaning to the names of "cocktails", "highballs" and just a good old-fashioned "stiff drink"..
Pepsi will market the new concoction by the name of:
MOUNT & DO.
Thought for the day: There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2040, there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them.

Well, just got home from the dome. Vikings offense didn't exactly light it up nor did they give up much on defense. Game was 3-0 Vikes when their starters left. Not sure if all the Rams starters on defense were in when they kicked that FG...I know the Rams sat Bulger early.

All in all the Vikings looked like a 6-10 team. BUT it was just the first preseason game and as Mad pointed out, it don't mean squat. Well, it might mean a little more for a young team......

I was pretty much forced to watch the entire game tonight. My thoughts:

1) Nobody really stood out on the negative side. The only guy that looked bad, to me, was the Rams CB Ronald Bartell. Really poor tackler.
2) The three young guys I noticed the most were Marcus McCauley, Bryan Robinson, and Ray Edwards. McCauley looks like a good find. Edwards and Robison destroyed the guys they went up against--although it has to be noted that Edwards got single-blocked by a guy who likely won't make the Rams roster. Robison dominated a backup also. Those two probably did flash more pass rush ability than James and Udeze have in previous preseasons though. Nobody else really stood out. I thought Mike Doss was flying around pretty good. Brian Leonard had a nice game for the Rams. He was their MVP.
3) Dontarrious Thomas had two interceptions, but it was typical preseason stuff. He had a gimme hail mary pick with no Rams around at the end of the half, and the interception he had for a TD was a gift also. I don't think he even moved on the play.
4) Peterson looked alright. Didn't get much blocking. He did take a couple of big licks, and his upright running style has to be a legitimate concern to the Vikings. He'll have to run with his pads lower if he expects to last in the NFL.
5) Troy Williamson had two easy, short catches. Nothing that would make you think twice if it was any other receiver. But, he did catch them.
6) Their offense looked just like last year. TJack was throwing short dumpoffs all night and he was running for 7-8 yards on 3rd and 10. He didn't look much different than last preseason. The one medium ball he completed was a wounded duck. He had another touch pass they he threw too softly.

One you missed was Bobby Wade....we all made fun of him when he signed but he made two really good moves and is really quick. He might be solid this year.

Troy Williamson didn't really show me anything, he caught a few in traffic, but he has to catch the deep ball to open up the running game.

Peterson didn;t get much blocking as you mentioned although he had one nice run...I had the field glasses on that play and he had no hole to run through but made 7. The rest was extremely average.

Hutchinson didn't play at for personal reasons, whatever that is.

McCauley and Robison did look pretty good.

Michael "Deion" Hawkins totally f'd up downing a punt but made a couple plays later in the game to redeem himself. (just kidding JH, don't get pissed)

Jackson looked avaerage at QB. He's pretty fast, but his decisions need to get better. That comes with experience obviously.

Vikings defense played quite well. Offense not so well. Something to build on though.

I agree with your other stuff, and I actually think Peterson looked good. Just nothing spectacular, and he got no holes. I wasn't impressed with the only catch that I saw Wade make. On TV, it didn't look his move was that great, but the cornerback (Bartell) just whiffed. The dude whiffed on a couple of other tackles in the game. He looked just awful tackling. Then again, I only saw the first catch, and I see he had two catches. I must have been eating when he made his other catch.

Yea, his first catch was good and his second was better. He's really quick as I said. Overall I wasn't real impressed but then I'm pretty jaded after last year. I'm trying to keep the kool aid flowing but really I gotta see it on the field. Blind optimism isn't working for me.

They made some steps and looked okay. They looked very average.

I'm gonna tivo the Pack and see how their offense looks....I have this sinking feeling it will look a bit better than I saw tonight, but we'll see.

I see what you mean after watching the first 3 quarters again, the first catch the guy whiffed but he made a nice move on the second which was just a couple plays later. Peterson was a little slow hitting the hole. He admitted he was nervous for his pro debut. I think by the end of preseason he'll be more decisive.
