For us older folks, Elvis died 30 years ago today.

What were you doing 30 years ago?

I was about to enter my junior year of high school back in Southwest Wisconsin, partying alot, pumping gas at the corner gas station, listening to punk rock, chasing after one of the Miesse sisters, and cruising in my "67 Buick Grand Sport. Man those were great times.

I was working as a Child Care Worker with emotionally disturbed, 9-13 year old boys at a residential treatment center in Wauwatosa, WI.

I had a nice bachelor pad in a house across the street from Hart Park. My buddies and I cheered for the Brewers in the summer and the Packers in the fall/winter.

I was a crazed 16 year old commercial fisherman around the waters of Kodiak island that summer. Made good money and partied with the cannery girls during fishing closures. It was a great summer.

I was likely grateful he hadn't died the year before or that would have been my name cuz Mama was a huge fan of his.

I was resplendent in my blue and white checkered bell bottom pants, savoring the achievement of graduating from middle school (and grateful I'd never have to go back there again...)

That must have been a good time, all those women smelling like fish.
I always wanted to be a fisherman, that reminds me of a girl I knew, Maria, she smelled like fish.

My wife loves Elvis, me myself and I are Beatles fans,

30 years ago, I was in my dad's balls.
