Packers Sign FB Cobb, Release S Underwood
posted 08/21/2007
The Green Bay Packers signed FB Erryn Cobb, a rookie free agent from Northwestern, and released S Marviel Underwood. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, made the announcement Tuesday.
Cobb, a four-year letterwinner and team co-captain in 2006, played in 49 career games for the Wildcats. He began his career in 2003 as a linebacker before moving to fullback in 2004. Cobb was the team's starting tight end in 2005 and played 'superback', a combination of tight end and fullback, as a senior in 2006.
The 6-foot-1, 241-pound player also blocked two punts in 2006. He will wear No. 25.
One of the Packers' fourth-round picks in the 2005 NFL Draft, Underwood played in 16 career games for Green Bay.
Probably not enough to get rid of Bretsky's sig, but he will be able to give Korey Hall a breather.
