I agree. I actually think this is best for most quarterbacks. Phillip Rivers is the only one I have ever heard that says he regrets sitting and learning for a bit. He's just a cocky mother who isn't asked to do much. Had he been thrown into the heat from the start like Eli I don't think he'd be a very good QB today.

Driver injures ankle, carted to locker room

Receiver Donald Driver was carted to the locker room after injuring his right ankle on a completion near the end of the first half. Driver used second effort to get a first down on a pass from Aaron Rodgers, but he was hurt after being taken down by cornerback Terry Cousin.

Driver is being examined in the locker room and isn't expected to return for the second half.

If the injury is serious, it would deal the Packers a severe blow on offense. Driver is one of the few playmakers on the starting unit and is Brett Favre's go-to receiver.

Packers air it out to get on scoreboard

The Packers got on the scoreboard with a 22-yard Dave Rayner field goal that capped an 11-play, 76-yard drive. Only one of the 11 plays was a run. In fact, Brett Favre threw 10 straight passes. The Packers' commitment to the running game is obviously open to debate.

Favre completed back-to-back completions to his tight ends, a 21-yarder to Bubba Franks and a 20-yarder to Donald Lee. After seven straight completions, the drive finally bogged down inside the 5 when Favre threw a pair of incompletions. The second, on third and goal from the 4, was batted down as Favre tried to pass to an open James Jones.

Why run the ball when Favre can move the team down the field through the air? That seems to be the Packers' current offensive philosophy.

Rodgers engineers Packers' touchdown drive

Brett Favre finished his night by completing 14 of 20 passes for 130 yards.

Aaron Rodgers entered the game and engineered a 73-yard touchdown drive that culminated with a 1-yard touchdown run by Brandon Jackson. Dave Rayner's extra point gave the Packers a 10-0 lead with 22 seconds remaining in the first half.

Rodgers was 5 for 7 on the nine-play drive. It was Rodgers' first action of the preseason against a starting defensive unit.

Not saying he didn't. I was saying that isn't "typcial leftwich".

I think that last play just proved my point

He's a good player. He doesn't have any weapons except out of the backfield. He's one of my favorite players. Liked him since his college days. Tough as nails.

Hes never broken 3,000 yards passing a season...

Reggie Williams, the guy they brought in for him is a 3rd stringer and Matt Jones is a 2nd teamer.

His first 3 years he had Jimmy smith and smith put up 1000 yards twice and 800 the first. And the tough as a nail stuff? He hasnt played a full season yet, Games played has been 15, 14, 11, 6

He is injury prone, but anyone who is tough enough to play with a broken ankle and have his offensive line carry him down the field is a bad mother. He is tough as tough comes.

He had Jimmy Smith on the back-end of his career and likewise it was at the start of Leftwich's own career. He could easily put up 3k+ if he had a DD.

Not sure if Jackson was the out or blocking but he was on the turf on that 3rd down play.

Only in Wisconsin would we get 25 pages for a pre-season game where the starters are out.

and it is only the 3rd quarter!

Jackson with a decent run but not a good series

mine is always crabby

Mine too often as of late as well

Chicks should be more mellow and kind on game day; they should be naked on game day too. Game day should be all about guy neediness

That's what I'm saying!

Good luck with that.

If you don't swing it's impossible to get a hit. I nominate Rastak to try first and report back and let us know how it worked :P

I can assure you tonight it will fail...she's pissed at me...

Hodge is headed for the IR.

"Rookie" Rodgers headed for the clipboard.

Bishop headed for the roster.

Rodgers ought to be able to buy a first down!!

After watching that series, I am CONFIDENT that we can run against teams 2nd stringers. We ought to be able to negotiate that, shouldn't we?

What's up with Leftwich? Twice he has a guy and overthrows him....
Hes being the normal leftwich... Nuff said

Poppycock. Leftwich is good. His receivers are bad. Very bad. They cannot get a 1st round receiver to work out to save their lives.

I agree with Woodson, he overshot them TWICE.

Nothing to add; just felt left out not being in the threads longest loop. I don't think much of Leftwich though

hit coulda been harder, but it was hard. That was a weird defensive play, seemed like we brought the house and played a man/zone, wasn't a good play.
