Nike terminated Michael Vick's endorsement deal last Friday, hours after court filings revealed Vick bankrolled gambling on dog-fighting and was involved in killing some dogs earlier this year.
The company released a two-sentence statement Friday evening saying it was ending the contract "following today's release of details of his plea."
"As we have said in previous statements, we consider any cruelty to animals inhumane, abhorent and unacceptable," the company said.
Ealier, Nike had suspended the August 23rd release of its $100 Air Zoom Vick V shoe. It had already manufactured 200,000 pairs of those shoes. Nike did not state what they would do with those shoes.
Nike already had pulled its Michael Vick "Heroe" T-shirts from shelves in retail stores across the country.
