View Full Version : Just more confirmation to how bad our RB situation is.

SI's Bucky Brooks ranks GB's RB group as the worst in the NFL. I'm not sure many on here will argue with that prediction. The question is if TT will do anything about it.

"Worst running back combo
Brandon Jackson, Vernand Morency and Noah Herron are slated to handle the running back duties for the Packers, but the trio enters the season with only two career starts between them. With so much inexperience at the position, it is hard to imagine this bunch capably filling Ahman Green's role as the starter. Jackson and Herron have only averaged slightly over three yards a carry during the preseason while Morency has missed the majority of training camp due to an injury. With the season a little over a week away, the inexperience at the running back position should be a major concern in Green Bay."

Detroits is worse right now. Tatum Bell can't carry the load himself, he gets hurt to easily.

I don't know if Detroit's running backs are worse, but the running game has been non-existent this preseason for them. Makes you wonder if it's the offensive line that is the bigger issue for both teams. You open a hole or two, and even a mediocre running back will get a few yards, anyway.

Darius Walker from Notre Dame was cut by the Jaguars today. Is he any good? I know the Jaguars didn't have room for him with their backfield depth. Would he be an upgrade over what we currently have?

I wonder if Brian Calhoun is making it in the pros.

Darius Walker was a decent RB in college. He didn't get much attention because of Quinn. I suspect we will only pick up running backs who have experience in the ZBS. Evidently it's too hard for a running back to find the hole if they never ran in the ZBS, oh wait none of RB's found the holes in the pre-season?!?!?!?!?!

I heard that Ron Dayne was still out there. I haven't tried to confirm that yet. Even though he is a bruiser type back, with the way we blocked in pre-season, between him and White, that may be how we get any yards rushing this season.

We did better this preseason running the ball than last preseason. I believe the stuff about not cutting much, having limited number of running plays, etc.--to some extent. I don't think we'll be dynamic or even average, but I don't think it's going to look this bad once the regular season starts.

I still think you need a bruiser in your arsenal. That at least gives you options. Right now, we have no one on our roster who can take it to the house. Morency maybe but he would probably pull a groin or something. From what I saw of White, he seems to be a bruiser type. He runs downhill hard. Now we just need some speed back there.
