Please post all cuts from other teams here. Not only does it make it easier to follow the cuts, it cuts down on having threads for each player

Here's hoping for Pierre Thomas. :D

Some Viking cuts...

The following players were informed on Friday they would be released or waived: RB Ciatrick Fason, WRs Billy McMullen and Cortez Hankton, TEs Richard Owens and Stephen Spach, OT Jimmy Martin, Cs Norm Katnik and Kyle Cook, NT Howard Green, LB George Hall and FS Patrick Body.

Fason would be an ok 3rd back. Owens is not a bad 2nd or 3rd TE. S Parick Body had a good camp but dropped a 100% sure TD thrown right to him Thursday night. Vikings were very deep at S so he had no chance to make the roster.

What is the OTHER option in September? We should have patched holes in MARCH.

On the good news front LB Roy Manning was picked up on waivers by the Jaguars.

Always good to see former Packers in the league. At one time I thought it was a mistake to keep White and waive Manning. His position as a starter last year I believe was responsible for the awarding the compensatory 7th round pick.

Whats the story on safety Will Demps? He was a big free agent signing a few years ago from Baltimore.

Was it injuries, salary with under performance, and not the under performance that haunts Retailguy in the sack.

Well, then hopefully TT knows who played WR for Montana State last fall.

I tend to follow players that come out of Big Ten a bit. I don't know how the amateur GMs in this forum keep track of so many borderline NFL hopefuls. I certain hope thiey aren't spewing bullshit! Nah, I guess they read something somewhere.

From what I read on Giants boards some say he's lost it. Others are puzzled at why he was cut. However, he was injured earlier in camp.

haha, we had the best (BY FAR THE BEST) preseason that we've had in three years. This team acctually looks strong at every starting position other than RB of which we don't really have a full read on yet but we do know it's not strong. These cuts aren't likely to bring much nor are you likely to know if they did but I don't know why you are panicking the way you are with filling needs. It's going to come together, sometimes you rely on one area more than the other untill you find a solution at the area of need. It's about being oppertunistic.

I know we differ and you probably think I'm dead to the world how patient and willing to suffer I am with some things and in your experience you probably know that you get burned when you don't dot every eye and cross every T but I have reasons for it that I go into from time to time.

I understand you guys, there is logic here that would apply to a lot of areas in life but I don't think it applys here like it has applied to all of the success in your career and life RG. This is a different animal. Preparation is important, but it's not the preparation that you are used to. I can't really explain it well, but I've heard some of your views and I have thoughts as to why I don't think they fit what an NFL GM does but it's a sort of long post and I'm supposed to be leaving to visit my brother and his new baby soon so it will have to wait :)

CUNDIFF OUT, PRATER IN AS FALCONS' KICKER by Michael David Smith

Adam Schefter of NFL Network also reports that the Falcons have released kicker Billy Cundiff, meaning Matt Prater has won the kicking competition.

Prater made two of three field goal attempts and showed a strong leg on kickoffs in the preseason. He has never played a game in the regular season.

Cundiff spent five games on the Saints' roster last year as a kickoff specialist and played four previous seasons for the Cowboys.

Yes, Harvey, you're right. And exactly how many of those players were the "missing link" in the season they were picked up? We absolutely need to grab a couple of guys to help in 2008. We got who we got for 2007. If we get ONE player who'll contribute this year, THAT is our miracle for 2007.

Packers cut kicker Rayner

The Green Bay Packers have decided to go with rookie Mason Crosby as their kicker and have released incumbent Dave Rayner.

Rayner told the Press-Gazette this afternoon that he had been released after the team made several attempts to trade him.

“They said it was the hardest decision they had to make at any position,” Rayner said when reached on his cell phone. “It was one of those things where I don’t think I could have done any more. I was fighting an uphill battle the whole way after the draft.”

Rayner won the kicking job last summer over veteran Billy Cundiff and made 26 of 35 field goals during the regular season, but General Manager Ted Thompson shook up the special teams when he drafted Crosby out of Colorado in the sixth round of April’s draft.

“Who knows, maybe I’ll be back here someday,” Rayner said. “You never know if he’s the guy long-term or a quick fix.”

The Packers are expected to announce their cuts in a few hours. The NFL deadline for reducing rosters to 53 players is 5 p.m., Central time.

Seriously, doesn't your perspective "assume" that the remaining 50 minutes of the game would be played in EXACTLY the same manner as the 1st 10 minutes. What this means to me is that we'd have to either play mistake free football, or the other team would have to make at least one more mistake than we did.

Point being, it take SIXTY minutes of football to win the game. We haven't seen the #1 offense do that yet. There will be games where they play like they have in the preseason, and there will likely be games where they won't.

Your point is subjective, whether you consider the score... or you don't.

Packers trade for RB Ryan Grant of NYG.

Packers trade for running back
The Green Bay Packers reportedly have acquired running back Ryan Grant in a trade from the New York Giants.

The Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger reported that the Packers have given up an undisclosed draft pick for the former Notre Dame running back. Grant, who missed all of last season due to a hand injury sustained in a nightclub incident, rushed for 90 yards on 18 carries in the preseason.

The 6-foot-1 and 218-pound Grant will give the Packers some insurance in case Brandon Jackson (concussion), Vernand Morency (knee) and Noah Herron (knee) are slow to recover from their injuries.

The Star-Ledger on its website said the Packers had offered one of their kickers, Mason Crosby or Dave Rayner, to the Giants instead of the draft pick.

"Nall sounded like he knew his days were numbered in a Bills uniform when he spoke after the final preseason game Thursday night.

"There's going to be an opportunity for me somewhere at some point where I'm going to get a chance to go in there and prove that I'm capable of playing in this league," said Nall after the Detroit game.

It wouldn't be surprising to think that the Bills tried for the past 24 hours to trade the quarterback who did not play poorly in the preseason aside from a fumbled exchange."

Teams are delaying the announcement of their cuts to try to get players signed to their practice squads, and know who else is available before they do.

Denver breaks about every rule the NFL has, so it's no surprise they're late.

The biggest name among those 22 released by the Cowboys was cornerback Aaron Glenn, a 14-year veteran who was expected to serve as the team's nickel back this season. It may be the end of the line for Glenn, who entered the league as a first-round pick of the Jets in 1994.

All eight of the Cowboys' draft picks made the team.

Greg Eslinger was one of the top rated centers and I thought he would fit perfectly with the Broncos since they run the zone-blocking like us as well as at Minnesota. I think he would be a good pick up, but we might have already to much depth there.

I'm surprised that Eslinger hasn't made the cut. He's from my hometown in North Dakota. Tom Nalen is old, so if they don't see him as the C of the future, he must be really underwhelming them.

Johnson has been productive in the system, and he's available for the taking.

Keeping 5 TE's is nuts; they have to be keeping a guy to trade him. I read something at PFT (not a credible source) that TT was trying to move Cole last week. It would not be a bad move

I'm slightly surprised on a couple of Viking cuts. Devonte Edwards is a pretty decent prospect. They cut him while keeping Roynell Whitacker who sucks in coverage. Apparently they like Whitakers special teams play and with McCauley winning the nickle job and Charles Gordon and Edwards neck in neck for the dime job they kept Roynell's special teams ability over Edwards coverage skills.

The other was Greg Blue, but given the fact they have four veteran safties and $20 mil cap space to extend one or more (Doss and Williams aren't that old) they kept experience. Blue hits like a tank but whiffs on occasion and isn't the best in coverage.

One last surprise was keeping only 3 running backs and 5 recievers. They kept the right 3 backs but cut Martin Nance who played pretty decently this preseason. Chandler Williams is somewhat like Clowney and will hit the practice squad I guess. Not sure if 7th round pick Tyler Thigpen will clear waivers or not and make it to the practice squad. I think I would have cut Bollinger and kept Thigpen as the clipboard guy while he learns.

Any folks in Carolina know what the deal on TE Michael Gaines is? He has some talent, and is young yet. However, the Panthers put him on IR and then reached an injury settlement because he wants to play in the NFL this year. Is he worth bringing in as a 3rd TE and how long is he expected to be out?
