I'll second this. I think there is a chance we do pretty well in this one. McCarthy has done everything possible to achieve a fast start. I think our team is just going to be more physical. The Eagles will have no where to go on offense and they'll get warn out and run down on defense.

Packers win, 38-10.

Favre throws for three TD's, the Defense scores two TD's, and Crosby kicks a field goal early in the game before Favre gets warmed up.

The Eagles TD will come early as a slap in the face to our Defense, waking up a sleeping Giant that will open some eyes :drma: .Late in the game, after doing their best not to run the score up on Philly too much, the Packers Defense will give up a field goal out of generosity and pity. :)

The only detractor to the game will be that our running game will only provide us with somewhere between 60-80 yards of Offense. Most of which will be late in the game as we run the clock down. :(

The best part will be Kampman, Jenkins, and Hawk, combining for 7 sacks, totally layin the wood :smack: to McNobb. After the 4th sack, McNobb totally loses his composure :eyes: , throwing interception after interception.

Shortly after the game, McNobb will announce his retirement, stating that he finally realized that he could never be as good as the great and legendary Brett Favre. :knll:

(I should get a job with the friends psychic network huh? )

Sorry, can't drink the kool-aid. The Pack hasn't provided me any indication that the ZBS is working and that they can run the ball. The Eagles will pin their ears back and Favre will be running for his life. I see a lot of 3 & outs, an Eagle interception or two and a very tired Packer defense.

The question is: What will this game predict for the rest of the Packers’ season?

According to the experts, the Eagles’ are one of the best teams in the NFL. They are favored by most to win their division. Their offense is solid. Their offensive line is one of the best in the NFL. Bryant Westbrook is one of the best players. McNabb can be great but is coming off an injury. Their receivers are adequate enough to do the job.

Defense is the Eagles’ biggest question mark. Their defensive line is adequate. Their linebacking corps is being rebuilt. Their secondary is a step slower.

The Eagles’ special teams have no real standout returners. Their kicker is experienced.

We all know what are supposed to be the Packers’ strengths and weaknesses. But the preseason is over. This game counts and will answer some huge questions:

1) Can the Packers’ vaunted defensive line dominate a top notch NFL offensive line and disrupt a solid offensive scheme by stopping the run and pressuring the QB?

2) Can the Packer’s linebackers and secondary break last year’s habit of giving up big, back-breaking plays to the offense?

3) Can the Packers’ young receivers stretch a good defense and continue their strong preseason showing?

4) Will McCarthy’s game plan shelve the running game completely and pass, pass, pass?

5) If McCarthy shelves the running game, will Favre be patient and work the ball downfield, or will he take the team on his shoulders and force the ball into coverage?

The answers to these questions will determine whether things have really changed significantly in Green Bay. The game will predict either an exciting, hopeful season or a long, frustrating more of the same.

I'm hoping the progress we've seen in the preseason is real. Last year we gained over a hundred yards on the ground against the Eagles, so I'm hoping McCarthy gives the running game a chance. If he does, it's Packers 24 - Eagles 10. (James Jones, special teams and our DL have a big game.)

Right now the Packers are a 3 point underdog.

If you bet $110 on the Pack plus the point spread, and the Packers either win or lose by less than 3, then you would win $100. If they lose by 4 or more, you're out $110.

If you bet on the Eagles minus the points, then you'd win $100 if the Eagles win by 4 or more. If the Packers win, or the Eagles win by 2 or less, you're out $110.

If the Packers lose by 3, it's a push and noone wins or loses.

The $10 difference is called "the juice" and the point spreads usually move depending on which side the money is falling as the week progresses. The bookies like there to be the same amount of money on each side of the spread, so they can guarantee to basically break even on the bets - and then pocket the juice from the losers after paying the winners.

Sorry, but I think the Packers will not have a good overall showing against the Eagles, particularly on offense. The weaknesses at RB, TE and WR will cause Favre to take more chances resulting in more interceptions. The Packers' offense will have many "3 and outs."

Our defense will begin strongly but begin to wear down by the middle of the 3rd quarter because Philly will have a decided ball possesion time.

Eagles 27

Packers 10

I was leaning towards picking the Packers all week but now I am going with the Eagles. The main reasons for my pick are the huge hole in the running game for the Packers which will male my second reason even worse, Btrett plays terrible against these D's that pressure you from unconventional directions. My fear is that our running game is totally shut down and Brett throws two or three picks and we lose 21-16. The D plays very well but the turnovers kill the team in the end.

woodbuck27
09-07-2007, 03:51 PM
Favre has been playing better on the road than at home. The pressure of this opening contest at Lambeau will continue.

Favre gets a ton of heat from the Eagle 'D' and is on his back a lot in this contest. He has to scramble too often and has difficulty getting into any passing pattern. Late in the game he has to go for it and is picked twice by an Eagle 'D' that has been coached to be patient and take the game away in the fourth quarter.

Favre has one TD pass and the defense gets another.Mason Crosby nails two FG's for a total of 20 pts.

The Packer 'D' disrupts Donovan McNab early in this game as well. McNabb takes matters in his own hands carefully picking his times to rush the ball and contain the clock to rest the Eagle defense.

Donovan McNabb toss's two TD pass's, one to Brian Westbrook and the other to Reggie Brown. Brian Westbrook also scores one TD on the run. David Akers gets two FG's.

Final score. . . Eagles 27 - Packers 20.

A respectable game for our side in Lambeau against a solid NFC team.
