Some heat was thrown around on this forum when the exact same idea was expressed a while back.

Part of this is because you might be viewed as trying to dump it all on Favre and if they do not do well then you can deflect the blame away at how this team was built or any personnel failings.

Maybe that's not fair; maybe it it.

Because it's wrong and total BS. As Parcells said a week ago on ESPN, the common mis-conception is it's a QB driven league and that could'nt be more wrong. Football is the perfect example of TEAM game. A QB need's his line to give him time and a throwing lane. He need's the receiver to get a bit of seperation. Put Manning on a team with no line, max protect schemes, no running game and in-experienced WR's and no way does he put up the same numbers.

Favre is a major component of the team but he will never win it on his own....could not to it 27 and will not do it at 37.
It all comes down to the defense with this team, get off the field and not give up huge plays and we win more games than we lose.

The more opportunity Favre has to put the ball in the endzone the better, which means the faster the defense can get the other teams offense off the field the better.

Football is a simply game, you have to block, tackle, and control the football.

Well no shit sherlock he wouldn't put up the same numbers. But when your numbers are the best in the pack, they would probably drop to average. Good players @ QB can make a shitty team look average. Football is a team game that is dominated by players that command double teams and create mismatches. That's all there is to it.

I don't see Favre as the key at all. I think he is the constant. I've said all along the key will be the play of the OL. Now, because of all the injuries, I would add the play of the RB's to that. Favre is at the point of his career where he cannot carry a team on his back anymore. His success depends to a large part on the play of the guys around him. What he can do is manage a game and still make enough plays to be effective. Give him some semblance of a running game, and a stout defense, and the Packers can win a lot of games.

McCarthy told Favre he wouldn't have to carry the team anymore and in 2006 he had to. It's 2007 and it looks more so that Favre will have to chuck it up 700 times.
