With the weak NFC, the experts seem to think we're a fringe playoff team. I think we're a little better than they do, but they sure jumped on the band wagon quickly. Shows you how little they know coming into the season. All they can do is tell you what happened. They really have no clue what is going to happen. Anything they say is complete bullshit unless they are just recalling what already happened.

I'd feel better about the Packers being #11 in the rankings if the Titans weren't #4.

Dr. Z confuses me sometimes.

I was shocked to see this as well, and even more shocked that someone even put the Pack as high as 11 after the first week. Very generous.

I will admit, that this time he surprised me.......can't believe the lengths he went to prove what an ass he is.

Not that I gave ESPN any credibility before but Vikes 24? :?:

They haven't proven much yet. Packers beating the Eagles on a last second play at home > kicking Falcons ass at home. That's just how it is. Chilly needs to follow it up on the road.

Agree but for both organizations, a win is a win. If Minny's running game can keep the chains moving, they will be tough.

If Jackson improves as the season goes on they will be very tough, if not...they'll be average in the end.

MN, GB, and DET are all unpredictable.

I just did my pool games; scored 115 last week in a money pick em league.

But after breaking down all these game, I still ended up putting a 2 and a 3 on the GB vs. NY game and the MN vs DET game.

Who knows what any of us really have ?

So far I've seen 2 power rankings where the Eagles are ranked higher than the Packers.

How do you come to that conclusion? The Packers beat the Eagles. Sure, they got a lot of luck, but the Packers are 1-0 and the Eagles are 0-1. I don't see how you can make the argument that the Eagles should be higher than the Packers. Maybe you can argue the Eagles have more talent than the Pack, but that's it.

I think with the Vikes D,all Jackson will have to do is manage the game if his running game is top 10. Basicly in the north we have three teams that ask their QB's to manage games and just want them not to make mistakes while in detroit, CJ and co will be putting up some big offensive numbers with a shakey D behind them.

I can't think of anything more meaningless than NFL power rankings.

How about all our speculation? I'd say it all ranks the same....

Right and most posters know less about the other 31 thus rendering their opinion less than perfect when doing a 32 team comparison.

I'm not saying it's right, but fans of one team know everything about them and superficial stuff about everyone else. So who is better qualified to write a 32 team breakdown?

I don't think the national talking heads know any more about the 32 teams than anybody else. One national writer will spit something out, all of them jump on it, and repeat it like it's gospel. Fans read it. They repeat it like it's gospel. It's like the draft rankings.

Some of the more knowledgeable fans will find legit resources for finding information about the teams. To me, the best are the websites that use respected local writers covering the teams--like the Team Reports on FOX Sports, USA Today, and Sporting News websites.

I gotta crash but I will say I'm not putting forth they are right on all 32 teams. I've heard some complete bullshit over the years a million times.
Only saying they do ok, compared to the average joe trying to do all 32 teams.

Actually, I think they are lazy. If I got paid to cover the NFL, you can be sure I'd be reading the same stuff I do today. It's not that hard, for example, to know that Andra Davis was a very good LB a couple of years ago, but Leon Williams is pushing him for a starting job this year in Cleveland. Know what I mean? They also have a lot more resources available (e.g. scouts). I've always thought that if I had that job I'd try to do a better job of knowing each team. You could go on a message board for each team, find out who the posters think are the most respected posters on the board, and keep in contact with those people. Often, they'll know as much as anybody covering the team.

I wish every poll would put us at #31 and leave us there.

Taking the average of 5 or 6 different polls is probably a more accurate reflection of where everyone is at than just looking at 1 individually.
