Nice win, lucky, but a win is a win. Congrats.

We're coming for you Bears! Detroit loses big and the Vikes, forget it.

Actually the Vikes got fucked. Clear TD called no catch, even on the replay. But even if they had won, they are either the 3rd or 4th best team in the North I have to admit.

DID PETERSON GET HURT ?

He sat on 99yds and 48yds receiving for a long long time

Well just maybe the sawed-off SOB will throw his first INT this week!

Im getting sick of all this chargers fear. Who the hell are they?? They need to come in and out hit the G&G defenders. Not one player for the Packers has punked out since the season started. They have been abusing offenses. I have seen the eagles and giants have sad dejected looks on their faces before the game was even over!! Even when the eagles game was close Barnett and crew didnt look down and out or ready to call it quits. All game they kept hammering westbrook, shockey, etc. San Diego better come ready to go at it for the whole game.

Good Call Mad!You damn straight it was. Nothing but love and admiration for every player wearing that beautiful Green & Gold! No quit until the last second has clicked off the clock!

If you read Woody's posts is why their is a "I told you so" atttiude. because of his constant pissing and moaning about not TT getting Moss and Green here. Guess what? Though you have to admit that some of the individual instances of playcalling were a bit baffling. Coming out in an empty backfield set on both 3rd and 2 and 4th and 2? Coming out in an empty backfield set on 4th and goal in the 6" line? All in all, the playcalling worked, but both of those calls baffled me.

McCarthy got a chance to redeem himself on the playcalling front with that last 1st and goal, and he wisely ran it in on 2 tries. Makes up---at least a little bit---for the bad 4th and goal call before that.

Now I'm going to the box score for the details.

Box score isn't gonna come close to how exciting it was. Down 4 with 5-ish minutes to go, Packers have the ball on the 6 inch line 1st down, false start. We couldn't score from 3 plays on the 6, and one play on the inch line again. Chargers got the ball on their own like 6 inch line with about 4 minutes to go, we stopped em twice making it 3rd and 9, and they completed about a 20 yard pass, which some (including me) of us thought it was the dagger. We eventually stopped em on 3rd and 3, got the ball back and had nice field position thanks to a decent return by Woodson. First play incomplete pass to Bubba. Second play Favre caught Jennings on a slant and Jennings never stopped running, 57 yard TD. Philip Rivers attempts marching the Chargers downfield, Barnett INT returned to the 1. Brandon Jackson 1 yard TD run.

Pretty exciting even looking at the play-by-play at NFL.com.

Looks like special teams did good again. Crosby kicks were deep and punts looked good.

Question: Why did San Diego go for field goal with 32 seconds left instead of a throw or two into the end zone?

Thanks. I never agree with that. When you're down that close I think you should go for the TD. Although you still have to convert an onside kick.

They needed two scores and an onside ko return. On 4th down the fg was more of a sure thing than a prayer into the endzone.

Driver dashed their onside kick hopes with a nice recovery to end the game.

3-0. Who would have thought it?
Come on. The optimists have put up with the doom-and-gloomers posts that TT was destroying the team, didn't know what he was doing, was forcing Favre out, the Packers were going to suck, etc. etc. etc.

Screw 'em. The early look is that their points had little merit.

Yeah, gee. All those idiots crying about how our run game is going to suck. What a bunch of dumb shits. What about those dimwits that wanted Moss, when we all know for a fact that Moss is a washed up piece of shit with an attitude. Don't try to rain on everyone's parade with an "I told you so" attitude. It doesn't fuckin wash!

3-0 at the top of the NFC North. Enjoy it. :pack: :cow: :pack:

Did we need Jennings today, or what!!!!!!!

Plus, who was the ninny sportswriter that said John Elway was better than Brett Favre?

Now I'm trying to figure out who to root for tonight. A Bear's loss would be nice, but I hate those damn Cowboys!

Just be happy with whoever loses, or cheer for a tie. Bears loss helps us more though.

Swede,

The box score must have had it wrong. It said San Diego kicked the field goal on 1st down, not 4th. Now it makes more sense.

Now you've got me wondering...I was busy blogging when I heard the announcers remark that the fg try seemed odd but was the right call.

I can see a team taking their fg shot on a first down and saving the time for a legitimate game-winning td drive after a successfull onside kick.

But that story line was a dream and a fantasy that vaporized when DD scooped up the onside kick.

If I'm not mistaken, SD was on the GB 21 or so. I just think it's easier to get a TD from that close. You can always try a 60 yd. field goal. It's more time consuming getting field position yards after a successful onside Kick. Just my opinion.

Actually, that FG was a great call by Turner. Other coaches have blown it. If he doesn't kick the FG there, they have no shot at winning it.

Well, if I were coach, I go the other way. Take a couple shots into the end zone and waste maybe 10 seconds on the clock.

Getting Jennings in was detrimental to this win. I'm completely convinced we have three solid WR's capable of getting open now. But when we have Jennings getting covered by the #2 CB, then Jones can outduel the Nickel. We needed to get him back to win this one.

CRAP, Yes I did

Basically having Jennings and Driver being covered by the #1 and #2 CB's the whole game opens our passing game up for everybody. I'm not nearly as confident in JJ when he has to start and matchup against a starting CB. I was at game one; it was miserable. Phily took away Driver and Jones could not get open man to man against their other CB. The last play aside, we needed Jennings to be in this game

Couldn't agree more. JJ is doing great, and putting up numbers, but doing so against the #3/nickel back. Most teams (us included) have a pretty huge dropoff from the first two to the third. What's the difference between Harris/Woodson to Bush/Blackmon? Ya, that much.

What he's doing makes life easier for DD and GJ, of course. Can't cheat the safety exclusively towards one of those guys if JJ is going to light you up!!!

JJ is on par for a 800 yard 70 catch season.

To be fair, he started 2 of the games. Hopefully, he'll be the 3rd WR from here on out.

Greetings all. I was at the game yesterday and just got home so I'm not updated on what's been discussed here. I had mentioned last week that the Packers had lost the last several games I had been to, so it's great to get back in the win column. Bretsky had suggested that because of my losing streak perhaps I could be blamed if the Packers lost (his expectation), so I'm hoping B will give me some credit for the win.

I've been to a lot of games at Lambeau, but when Jennings broke into the clear on the TD play, that might have been the loudest I've heard that place. Until Barnett's INT, when it got even louder. Funny thing was, the place was kind of quiet as the packers were leaving the field. I think the 4th quarter had drained everybody.

It became obvious to me fairly early in that game that the Packers were definitely in the same class with San Diego, so this win was no fluke. Although the Packers defense gave up 24 points and quite a few yards, once again they prevented the other teams best offensive players from breakout games. It was thrilling to see what Favre could do with his full complement of receivers, even against a very good defense. Truly one of his greatest games, in my opinion. Finally, I think it his high time that Nick Barnett start being seriously discussed as a Pro-Bowl caliber MLB.
