The Green Bay Packers on Monday signed WR Shaun Bodiford and released WR Chris Francies. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, made the announcement.

Bodiford (pronounced BAH-dee-ford), a 5-11, 186-pound player from Portland State, played in three games for the Packers in 2006 before being placed on injured reserve. The second-year pro played in all four preseason games for the Packers in 2007 and was on the Redskins' roster for the first two weeks of the regular season. He will wear No. 19.

When it comes to #5 WRs, I'd rather have Bodiford than Francies.

Good move.

At a certain point I had high hopes for Bah-dee-ford, but after you've been cut three times I think, statistically, your chances of being an impact player are less than Bill Schroeder's.

Well, there's a surprise. I never could have seen that one coming... :pack:

I thought I read where the Redskins resigned him this weekend after cutting him last week. Must have mis-read that.

He was reported to have been signed to their practice squad after they released him.

They can have Francies for their PS.

Is there anyone actually IN the Francies camp?

I'm sure there are few good sports who like to rumble. I'll be Captain of Team Francies.

I like this move. Bodiford isn't going to make or break this season but he is a better option then Francies. Good move TT.

This is a bad omen. All of TTs best moves - drafting Collins, Jennings, Jones, etc. have met with the most criticism.

Having this move supported here - probably means it wasn't a good move.

There it is, the last piece of the SB puzzle, a quality 5th WR!!!!

It would be sweet to wake up in the morning and read that the Pack has signed a RB such as Corey Dillon or maybe made a trade for a high quality back. That's what this team's missing.

He just may be a better player than Frank Walker

I doubt this had much to do with ability as a receiver. There was an article about how effective Bodiford was as a wedge-buster on kickoffs. Plus, he was one of the primary candidates for the return jobs. I don't think Frances gave them much on STs. Bodiford does, so he has more opportunity to contribute at some point during the season.

The article: http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=645435

I loved Driver's comment:

"I went down as a 4 once or twice in pre-season my first year but never a 5," Donald Driver said. "You've got to be loony to hit a wedge. Shaun is one of those loony guys. He doesn't have a problem doing it."

Slant Patterns and Jugs Machines at 50 paces! Winner take all...er, ok, 5th WR.

The Packers are 3-0
The Bears are 1-2
Everyone is getting ready to have fun at the Bear game in two weeks
Bretsky is taking down his sig
Mike Sherman is still fired

This feels like the online equivilant to a group hug.

I wonder how bad the knee injury is though. Hopefully he can get it together and help us out this year.

Hopefully he can come in and pick up where Holiday left off on ST's.

Francies has to clear waivers before he can be added to the pracitice squad, again.

If by some miracle another team doesn't jump at the chance to sign him, he can get his PS locker back.

The Packers are training him to play for another team some day.

Lighten up, Francies!

That's just one more negative on Francies resume. HH is in his camp.
