This is my 1000th post (500 were lost but ask madtown about that 8-) ).

I'm just curious; where are peolpe from? I mean, where were you born and where do you live now. This is also to see how many fans are from the outside of America - yet all is interesting to me. This has probably been done before but I must have missed it somehow; so this one is for the 1000th post from Denmark.

Born in Phoenix, Arizona - USA.

Live in Odder, Denmark - Europe.

So the winters in NC are warmer than in Wisconsin & Iowa? I wish we had more snow in Denmark - we're not like Norway or Sweden.

I guess it depends on your definition of a nice winter. If you like snow in winter, don't move to NC. :) We are two hours from the Atlantic, 3 hours from the Blue Ridge Mountains and D.C. is four hours north. It's a nice area. Winter temps are usually low 50's. We still go through 4 seasons, we just don't get more than a few flurries of snow each winter.

I read an article last year where Cary, NC was one of the best places to live in the USA.

They said weather is fairly moderate, it is a good city to live and work in, wages and high and cost of living is low in comparison, lots to do, etc.

For awhile I was thinking that place sounds perfect to raise a family.

Any thoughts on this?

Yeah, this area is called the Triangle. There's an area called RTP (Research Triangle Park). With Raleigh (NC State), Durham (Duke University) and Chapel Hill (University of North Carolina) making up the Triangle. What you read about Cary is correct. There are a lot of NY'ers and some mid-westerners who come down here to escape the harsh winters, and love it. The joke about Cary is that it's actually an acronym (Containment Area of Relocated Yankees). Cary is a nice bedroom community in the middle of the Triangle, so you can work about anywhere. I would agree about the reasonable cost of living. As far as the lots to do, I guess it just depends on what you like. The golf courses are open year round. The area is great for Tech and Medical related jobs.

I also like Wilmington on the coast. It's great, especially if you'd like to live near the ocean. Very laid back; very cool place to live.

Some might like Asheville, NC, which is in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's a progressive place to live. Very green, filled with artisans, people patronize the downtown area a lot; nestled in the mountains, so you still get some snow for your winter if you like that.

I sound like I work for the chamber of commerce, but it is a very nice place to live and raise a family.

- I was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada (The Capitol of NB - 1946)

Fredericton, NB Back there for 3 years in 1985. Graduated with a B. Ed in Technology Education,1988.

- I grew up in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada - Elementry School through Community Colledge - Industrial Instrumentation and Controls Technologist.

http://new-brunswick.net/new-brunswick/image1/thumb/fred10.jpg

Saint John is the oldest Incorporated City in Canada - formally termed the Loyalist City as it was founded by the United Empire Loyalists. Saint John claims the largest Canadian Irish community in Canada. I am Loyalist on Dads side and Irish on my Moms side. I am an Irish Canadian. That accounts for who I am - my style of personality. :)

The Irish Canadians are predominant throughout the Maritimes,Quebec and Ontario ( the remainder of Canada as well ).

I became a Green Bay Packer fan in 1958; a Milwaukee Brave fan (1957).

http://new-brunswick.net/new-brunswick/image1/thumb/fred1.jpg

New Brunswick is famous for its majestic rivers Atlantic Salmon, and small mouth bass as well as many other varieties, waterways, and salt and freshwater sand beaches. Its Citys and Towns and Villages with Victorian and Loyalist archetecture.

An example of a Victorian House a Bed and Breckfast - wonderful dining room for all occasions on the Fundy Trail - in very beautiful, St. Martins,New Brunswick. I lived in St. Martins for three wonderful years. A magical place.

I recommend this place as a destination (St. Martins near Saint John, NB - 35 miles away) if you enjoy wilderness or public camping, hiking, cliff climbing - rapaling. :)

The three Maritime Provinces are: -

New Brunswick, Nova scotia and Prince Edward Island. East of the Maritimes lies the beautiful and very friendly Province of Newfoundland.

- I am Presently residing in ** Greenfield Park, Quebec - on the South Shore of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

I am posting on vacation back home in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Note: Our Youth Football Program teams at all levels 7 years to 18 years old, are called the GREENFIELD PACKERS.
