A lot of praise is getting tossed around right now and rightfully so. However, lost in all of the madness, is the great job that Bob Harlan did, setting things up for success from the top - down.

Bob Harlan fired Mike Sherman a year or two before he completely ruined the Packers for years to come. He went out and hired one of the NFL's most successfull up and coming talent evaluators and gave him complete riegn. Some organizations get involved in football decisions. They botch things up by making decisions that they are not qualified to make rather than letting the guy they hired (who is supposed to know) make the decision. Harlan does not do that according to all reports. Ted Thompson had complete control from day one. Most GM's wouldn't even have the option of hiring Mike McCarthy because nobody has heard of him and they would be affraid to take the dive. Harlan stayed out and gave Ted Thompson enough rope to tie the moon or hang himself. Same goes for the draft and all other personel decisions.

Bob Harlan made a great fire/hire. The firing probably equally important as the hiring. Ted Thompson has done a great job assembling a team. McCarthy has done a great job coaching and the players are all good guys who are holding up their end playing. Top down, the Green Bay Packers are a first class organization, and the credit has to start with Bob Harlan IMO.
